May was in bed in her Itachi shirt and black boy shorts. It was 4:30 am. "Wonder if Yoshida is thinking about me? Maybe I should tell him..." she said to herself, looking at her phone.
Her phone vibrated; it was Mbali. "Hullo?" May said, picking it up.
"It's Mbali. How are you doing?" Mbali was making herself a salad. She was wearing a grey nightgown. "I'm just making me a salad. Now, where are the olives...?"
"I'm just wondering if Yoshida is into me is all. Hopefully, he's thinking about me..." She let out a big sigh.
"He might, and if not, there are plenty more fish in the sea," Mbali replied. "Found some green olives! Now, all I need some salad dress-" She opened the fridge. "There's some Italian and Russian dressing."
"I'd go for Russian, but that's just me." May got up and cracked open the sparking juice Yoshida gave her. "Anyways, what's in your salad?"
"Romaine lettuce, spinach, bacon bits, olives, tomato, and now some Russian dressing." Mbali poured a dollop on her food.
"So, how was Mr. Bourne's class? You know, the only time we're both separated from each other." Mbali stuck a fork in an olive.
"I was in Mrs. Shikaraku's class; she was a hardass. Her son Manu is in the class as well. I didn't know her husband was Hawaiian. He also works at the school, but as a freshmen teacher."
"Good to hear, except for the fact your teacher acts like a bitch." May sipped her juice. "Blueberry juice."
"What are you drinking? That sparkling juice stuff the school sells?" Mbali asked, her pillow by her side.
"Sparkling juice that Yoshida gave me at lunch," May replied. "It's 100% natural!"
"I might get one; my mom gave me an allowance recently." Mbali ate another olive. "We should link up one day, just the four of us. Maybe we can go to the theatre. Or get ramen."
"Maybe we should." May drank the last of her juice. Her phone beeped. "Yoshida sent me a text!"
Yoshida texted, "I'm sick... That boerwors tore my stomach up!"
"So, you're not coming to school?" she texted back to Yoshida with some sad emojis. "This sucks... I'll bring you some soup."
"This sucks," May said to Mbali. "Yoshida's sick on his stomach... I know! I'll bring him some soup after class. I need some prawns and tomato paste."
"Don't forget the veggies and pasta," Mbali reminded her.
"Well, anyway, I'm gonna go get ready for today. See you later, Mbali."
