“Thank you again, Professor Kim,” Dohyun said, his voice measured yet warm. He dipped his head slightly, his sharp features softened by a polite smile. “I look forward to working with you this semester.”
Professor Kim chuckled, adjusting his glasses. “Likewise, Mr. Kang. Don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions. Give my regards to your father.”
Dohyun nodded curtly, stepping out of the office and shutting the door behind him. Pulling out his phone, he checked his schedule. The neatly arranged blocks of classes stared back at him, but his focus wavered back to earlier this morning.
He’d stopped by the school administrative office, his hands resting on the counter. “Excuse me, do you have a lost and found?”
The woman behind the desk barely glanced up from her computer. “We do. If you found something, you can leave it here.”
He hesitated, his fingers brushing against the edge of the wallet in his pocket. The leather felt warm, as if holding it any longer might burn a hole in his conscience.
“No,” he said abruptly, shaking his head. “It’s fine. Never mind.”
The woman gave him a puzzled look but shrugged and returned to her typing. Dohyun had walked out, the weight of the wallet in his pocket.
Snapping back to the present, Dohyun reached into his pocket and pulled the wallet out. His thumb ran along its worn edges before flipping it open to reveal the ID card inside.
“Gomi Kim,” he murmured, his lips curving into a faint smile. Her photo stared back at him—messy hair, a soft smile and warm expression. But he couldn’t help but laugh, thinking about how starkly different she’d been last evening. He would have never imagined she would be able to fight the way she did based on this picture.
He leaned against the railing of the hallway, idly wondering, Is she on campus right now? His gaze drifted across the bustling courtyard below, scanning the crowds for a familiar face.
The sharp buzz of his phone interrupted his thoughts. Glancing at the screen, he saw Shinhye’s name flash across the caller ID. His smile vanished. Without a second thought, he pressed ignore.
As he slipped his phone back into his pocket, he turned to leave, only to collide with someone head-on.
“Oh my gosh!” The girl stumbled back, her books nearly tumbling out of her arms. “I’m so sorry!”
Dohyun steadied her with a hand on her shoulder, his reflexes as quick as ever. “It’s fine,” he said coolly, stepping back and giving her a polite nod before continuing down the hallway.
Nayoung blinked, her mouth slightly ajar as she watched him walk away. “Whoa.” She glanced around to see if anyone else had witnessed the encounter, then quickly whipped out her phone, hoping to snap a picture of him.
But he’d already retreated too far, and she only captured the lighting perfectly capturing his broad shoulders and confident stride. Her fingers flew across the screen as she texted Jun.
Nayoung: I just found the best-looking guy on campus. Like, movie-star level. 😳
Jun: Pics or it didn’t happen.
Nayoung: [Image attached] I’m not even kidding. Look.
Jun’s reply came almost instantly.
Jun: Tell me his face is as nice as his body…
Nayoung: It’s even better.
Nayoung smirked, tucking her phone into her pocket. “Well, well,” she murmured to herself, glancing in the direction Dohyun had gone. “This semester just got interesting.”
