Yoshida was walking the streets of Sapporo to get a chocolate cake. He thought, 'Maybe I should get some Starbucks. I do want some pumpkin bread.'
He stopped and saw 20 yen on the ground; he picked it up. "My lucky day!" he exclaimed. He lowered his voice. "I'm gonna spend it on some pumpkin bread."
Yoshida walked inside a busy Walmart; it has a Starbucks inside. "I should probably take a shower when I get home -- I shoulda taken one last night..."
A girl with purple hair and a Growlithe shirt was in the dessert aisle. "My dad wants cannolis. Lemme get him one."
Yoshida bumped into her, not looking where he was going. "Oh, sorry."
"It's fine and... Who are you?" She looked surprised.
"I'm Yoshida Akamura."
"I'm May. Are you from here?" she asked.
"I lived in Sapporo all my life," he replied. "I see you like Pokémon. My favourite is Mega Blastoise."
"My favourite is Growlithe," she replied back. "Also, my family moved in from a rural part of Japan. I'm going to Tōtsuki International School tomorrow."
"Me too. I've been there all throughout my years of high school," he said. He picked up a chocolate cake. "Anyways, wanna get a coffee? I'm buying."
"Sure. I gotta get my dad his cannoli. He loves those!" May picked up a 2-pack of cannolis. "Let's continue the conversation."
Yoshida and May were at Starbucks. He bought a coffee, and pumpkin bread for 2. "I always get the Americano," Yoshida started out.
"I like banana milk." She started drinking her banana milk. "Anyways, how old are you?"
"17. My birthday is on June 10, by the by."
"I'm 17 too. My birthday is on July 17. I want my mom to buy me more Growlithe merch." She sipped her yellowish-white drink.
"You should see my room -- my mom bought me Blastoise merch. Posters, figures, bed set..." Yoshida ate the last of his pumpkin bread.
"Oh, that's neat! Anyways, what do you want to do when you get out of high school?:" May asked, munching on her pumpkin bread.
"Be a handyman and an MMA fighter," Yoshida replied. "My mom wanted me to be a doctor or lawyer or something like that. She said she's scared I might get hurt in MMA."
"My dad was a boxer. He retired with a 23-1 record."
"That's great! Maybe he can give me some pointers... What does he do for work now?" Yoshida asked.
"He does construction; he makes pretty good money. I wanna be a Youtuber. I can sing, thanks to my mother. She inspired me to do so." She folded her hands.
"You should serenade me one day. You gonna sing covers. Like Lieandlie?" he asked.
"Yeah, and I wanna do different genres of music. Speaking of music, what do you listen too? I listen to easy listening."
"I listen to electronic dance music. You know, rawstyle, rawtrap, dubstep, riddim, deep house... I also listen to rap and modern pop," Yoshida answered. "But anyways, I gotta get going, May, See you at school tomorrow."
"Okay."
And Yoshida made it outta Walmart and onto the sidewalk. 'We should be together,' he thought. 'Maybe she's the one for me...'
May was walking to her parents' house herself. 'He seems like a keeper,' she thought to herself. 'Maybe I should ask him out...'
