In an apartment, Benji is unpacking boxes and whistling a happy tune. Yet, he continues to explain, "My life was simple. Yeah, it wasn't perfect, but I was happy and in love."
Suddenly a 28-year-old girl with brown hair, which was in a ponytail. She was sprinkled with freckles all over her body, dimples showcased her baby-faced figure, and hazel eyes sparkled up her glowing smile that showed on her face. She wrapped her arms around him and kissed him gently on the lips.
Suddenly the scene shifted yet again showing her looking at the T.V. and it announcing, "Ladies and gentlemen! If you don't have a reasonable reason to go outside, we advise you to please stay inside."
"The streets have been overrun by thieves, raiders, and criminals of all kinds, because of this recent outbreak, it is no longer safe to be out, so please stay inside and lock your doors."
The Girl turns around and looks at Benji, her body now soaked in sweat, her skin ghostly pale. Her eyes are baggy, tired, and bloodshot, she is underweight as she is unhealthy and skinny, and looks sickly weakened, she wears a worried expression while wearing a sports bra and sweat shorts trying to cool her temperature down. She coughs and says with weakness in her voice, "Baby, they say to stay inside, perhaps we should listen to them."
Benji looks back at her with a caring smile, yet hides the concerned look on his face as he says, "Oh, will you stop? I'll be fine. Stop worrying about me and try to relax and try to feel better, my sweet dumpling."
Benji turns back around towards the door hiding his expression of seriousness and concern for his love, but continues out the door.
The city's air is suffocated with the sounds of sirens, screams, and wicked laughter. While the city streets are illuminated with the dim lighting of sirens from police cars and the streetlights. The stench of gunpowder, smoke, blood, smog, rotting garbage, and despair filled the air. as the feeling of unease, depression, and hungry eyes lingered in the darkness making it hard to continue with every step. While the taste of dirt, smog, and blood, caked lips that were in the night within the city.
With every step tested Benji's courage, as thoughts raced through his mind and his heart beat faster as if he was just waiting for someone to jump out of the dark and rob him. "Geez, they like to sugarcoat things, the news is useless," Benji said to himself inside his mind. "Have we stooped so low, that we turned into mindless beasts." he continued to say inside his mind.
Benji continued walking down the street, though he caught the attention of three men who wore hoods and masks and began to follow him. Benji knew they were behind him, he lowered his head and formed fists inside his hoodie's pockets. Benji picked up the pace, trying to fight the nervousness in his heart. However, once he picked up his movement speed, so did the men who were following him.
Benji continued to pick up his speed, now his heart was racing with fear and the only thing he could think of was his wife. He rubbed his thumb on his wedding band. The men that were following him, began to pick up their movement speed. Benji could hear the snickers and giggles from behind him, which made him move even faster down the street.
Benji could hear not only his but the men that were chasing him and they were all breathing heavily. He didn't just hear the breathing; he also heard the footsteps of his and theirs.
Finally, Benji saw the store he was trying to walk to before he got stalkers. However, the men saw the store also, and their movement quickly went to a halt. Benji rushed into the store, the sound of the bell when the door opened was calming, and felt like it was a lifesaver for a moment.
