Two hours have past, and I hadn't really done much, but think and be pestered by Kaylee's father about how we met, when Kaylee opened the front door and walked in, her father told her about how I, her friend had been waiting here and that I had a minor concussion. Kaylee looked over at me after her father had said that, but still looked shocked to see me.
"Ach du meine Güte...! Aurora... is it really you...?" She sounded a bit apprehensive and surprised, but I didn't read into it very much.
"Yeah, it's me."
Her demeanor shifted slightly but her tone is still slightly cautious and the surprise hasn't faded, but her voice sounds softer and slightly quieter this time she spoke. "The guest bedroom is upstairs." She led me to the stairs, warning me to be careful as the stairs were slippery.
"Yeah, I got a concussion..." I paused, taking a breath before speaking. "Can you tell me about our friendship? Like what we usually do together and such...?"
Kaylee halted on the steps, still holding the handrail, then turning to face me. I could see the uncertainty written on her face, it was very evident, but she shook it off and changed her expression, putting on a smile before speaking. "Sure, let's talk about that später, once you're situated."
I nodded in agreement, before I spoke. "Sounds good with me." She continued walking up the polished wooden steps, having turned away from me after I finished speaking.
I followed after her, taking my hand off the handrail before taking my next step.
At the top of the stairs, we took a left and walked down a hallway. The floor was barely visible, as it was covered in a red, very detailed and patterned carpet.
Kaylee opened the first door on the left and gestured for me to go inside. I walked inside and she followed, closing the door behind her.
The tension in the atmosphere changed the moment that the door closed. The room felt more suffocating.
"So... can you tell me more about our relationship? Like what we enjoy doing together?" I questioned in an attempt to break the silence.
She sat down on the bed, which was near the door. I looked around at the mostly cream walls. The wall with the door on it is randomly black. Huh... how random.
Kaylee finally responded. "Well... we were friends... and we liked... hanging out together, and just having fun. Yeah."
I nodded. "Yeah, that makes sense. Just chatting out in nature..."
"Do you remember when we used to hang out?" She asked, looking at me with hope in her eyes.
"I'm sorry... I don't even remember how we met." I replied sadly, wishing that I could remember the times we shared together.
A saddened look crossed her face and I immediately felt bad.
