Isaac was frozen in fear. What happened to Marilou? Why were her eyes shining with a dark red sparkle? He swallowed, yet he couldn't bring himself to detach his gaze from her.
His sister was having compulsions, her eyes fluttering open and closed. She looked possessed. The monstrous glare he saw in Marilou's eyes wasn't the one he used to know.
The young boy would've bet that someone took over her body. He would've recognized her cheerful and happy eyes in a whole crowd, but everything was foggy in what he was seeing.
Pettiness. A shadow with dark thoughts. Against everything, Isaac kept on staring at his sister, his curiosity taking over his worst fears. his heart throbbed with this paranormal experience, but for now, he didn't give a damn.
A shiver went along his spine, pulling him out of his trance. His lips parted as his eyes flickered open again. Bewildered, the teen quickly shifted his gaze away from his sister, speechless.
He didn't have any wo Irds to describe this situation but a void. Emptiness. Isaac wondered where Marilou was, in this present moment. Because he didn't feel like she was really right there, with him. Well, not entirely.
Realizing how real the situation was, Isaac choke. Slowly and surely, he started pacing around the room, moving towards the entrance. The exit, in other words.
A cold hand gripped his ankle tightly, metalical. Shocked, his breathing grew shaky as his heart bumped against his chest and he didn't dare to move. Neither breathe.
Isaac shuddered. He didn't dare try to imagine who took his ankle. Reluctantly, the boy glanced behind him and dropped a hand on his mouth, trying to keep himself from screaming.
His sister, or her body, was the one holding him back and stopping him from doing anything else. Isaac froze, staying silent. He never thought that Marilou had body parts that were metalical and fake. He didn't know her like that.
Confusion took over him, all foggy, clearing any remaining piece of logical thinking. How did she manage to get her hand through the glass, even though her ankles and wrists were tied? How could she decide when she could be taking over her own body?
The first thing Isaac noticed was her red eyes, her posture. Bloody red, shining in an odd way in the old dusty room. What troubled him the most was her appearance; it was his sister. But those eyes, that spirit....
- Stop it. He stuttered, although he knew really well it couldn't be helped.
As a response, Marilou smiled sadistically, creeping him out. Her grip tightened as Isaac struggled, squealing like a mouse in a trap. He battled like a maniac, hissing with his eyes wide with fear.
His thoughts were wandering around as he tried to defend himself, focused. He needed help. But who could help him out, in this lonely part of the manor? Nobody would hear his screams and his calls for help.
A thought crossed his mind. Lilith. If she was a ghost and knew the secrets of the manor this well-three hundred and five years-, she surely knew all the secrets of the place.
If someone could be helping him, it would be her. As he persisted to growl and struggle, Isaac cleared his throat. She had to hear him out.
Desperate, the young boy then spoke:
- Lilith, come on help me out right now.
Quickly, his sister's grip tightened even more, pulling him towards her. His eyelids became heavy, and he couldn't move. His world was inside out, and he was losing consciousness.
***
Lilith decided to help the boy. Honestly, she was quite offended that someone was asking help from her, but she wasn't complaining. Him, ask her? Lilith was flattered. She had to recognize it, he was clever for calling her out instead of his parents.
Her who knows the secrets of this place. The only fact that she has been called at annoyed her deeply, but she had to say her pride was growing. At least he didn't say "Mom! Dad! Save me!" Which wouldn't offended her. She would've been embarrassed for him.
Trying not to utter a word, the spirit watched the young boy sleep peacefully. Sitting on a wooden chair, Lilith was grateful that Isaac's parents didn't see her.
According to them, he did search his sister, yet, lacking sleep, fainted. They prepared a lot of food for when he'd wake up, convinced that they didn't give him enough food. Which was far from the truth, naturally.
They weren't even close to the truth. Their son was about to be possessed by an entity called the Wendigo. And that their daughter was currently possessed by one. Those were really bad news, and were in a disadvantageous situation.
Shannon right to Lilith without seeing her, she sniffled and shook her head. At her left, Philip sighed and took his wife's hand.
- It's not your fault. He mumbled softly as he caressed her hand
- Of course it is! The concerned one grumbled angrily, sobbing, I should've known, it's my son!
The adults kept on arguing and reassuring each other as Lilith stood there, helpless. She felt like a third wheeling, although she knew she wasn't supposed to be here.
Technically, yes. She was simply worried about them.
Suddenly, Lilith heard a breathing noice. Then, a choke. Isaac woke up, his eyelids fluttering open with the shock. His breathing was shaky as he watched around, a hand on his heart.
Shifting her soul, the ghost watched the parents looking at him in anger and worry. Philip took Shannon's hand again, to help her and himself from what has happened. The woman looked terrified, her hands running through her hair aggressively.
Isaac sat quietly, his azur eyes scrutinizing every corner. His gaze becoming tender, he looked at his parents, then to Lilith, grateful. Of course, his parents raised their eyebrows, thinking he saw ghosts now. Well, he did.
His throat feeling dry, the eldest tried pronouncing a word, anything. One, at least. The worst thing was that he didn't even know what to say. Clearing his throat a few times, he could finally speak. Try, at least.
Lifting his forearm to toss hair away, he winced and moaned. Around his arm was a bloody plaster covering its totality. White with horror, the teen eyed the room anxiously, seeking the truth.
Then, Shannon spoke.
- If you don't remember, Isaac, you were looking for Marilou and fainted because you didn't eat enough. It's our fault, that's why we prepared this much food for you.
Distantly, the spirit and Isaac looked at each other, shaking their heads. Lilith sticked her tongue out and gestured to his parents, making an interdiction signs with her arms.
- Thanks. Isaac affirmed as he slowly grabbed a slice of banana bread
Shannon and Philip started to calm down. Nodding their heads, they looked at their son with a gaze filled with tenderness and good intentions. Which did reassure him. If his parents were reassured, well so could he.
After five minutes, the adults started to get bored staring at their son eating. And so, their eyes met, and they both nodded again. They declared:
- We'll leave to go and find Marilou, call us if ever you need something. For now, stay if your room, you're tired.
Isaac fought the thought to yell at them that Marilou was nowhere to be found, and that if they saw her, they'd have a heart attack. Which wasn't a good idea. When his parents walked off, Isaac glanced at Lilith, completely furious.
- I have to go find her. He said, struggling
Folding her arms, the spectrum shook her head and squinted her eyes, leaning against something invisible.
- No, I can't let you. She replied, trying to stop him
Unfortunately, her invisible body didn't help her much. Yet Lilith kept him there with a pleading look.
- I have to save her! Let me go! Isaac added, standing up from his bed brutally
Lilith's gaze hardened. Her eyes shined with a dark sparkle, holding thunderstorms, which would've made him shiver, normally. But in the situation, he was too stubborn. Groaning in frustration, Isaac passed through LIlith, stepping on his foot while pressing his weight.
- No, come back! She's not what you think she is! Lilith said, desperate
When Lilith pulled out of her trance, Isaac was already gone. Far away. And he didn't know how much danger he was going in. Because he wasn't going to be able to save his sister in this lonely room in the manor.
And he couldn't do that alone. Isaac would need experts. Ghosts, for example.
But LIlith had already warned him, and she wasn't coming with him. He had to take care of this alone.
