"Want some salt?" Aze offered, jiggling the little salt shaker
"No, thank you" Raphael smiled tightly as he continued to eat his multicolored ring cereal.
Aze then proceeded to add salt to his chocolate chip cereal. "You know I could make you something more interesting. Maybe some sandwiches, arepas, an omelette… Maybe some soup with a salad on the side, because I know-"
"Aze, you can't escape this conversation" The angel said sternly while eating his saltless cereal.
"At least let me try…"
"No. What did you mean when you said you took my curse?" Raphael asked, golden eyes looking directly into the demon's, leaving no room for any more distractions "What does it do?"
Azazel tried to avoid eye contact, but yielded in the end.
"When I saw your wound there was a dark matter spreading all over your body”, he started; “there was no time to waste" He said trying to stay nonchalant while playing with his plate.
"I don't know exactly what it would've done to you, but I know for a fact it came from hell and you're an archangel. So... Endless suffering was ensured" he reasoned, as if he was on the right.
"I'm a demon, I'm used to it. That shit wouldn't leave you otherwise, so I gave it a new host by consuming it and now we're here". Azazel concluded, though his teary eyes betrayed him as he looked back at his angel.
"I failed you when you needed me the most, I… I didn't listen to you, so it was an easy decision that I would do as many times as needed if it meant keeping you safe"
Raphael was left speechless. They stayed silent for a minute or two just looking at each other. The room was really quiet, the only thing that you could probably hear was the angel's quickening heartbeat.
And then eventually the chair creaked when the angel stood up and went to the demon's side of the table.
"Aze-“
"I'm not in pain or anything. Might be because we're from the same place, I don't know" Azazel frowned at the last words as if ashamed of that part of him.
"Did it leave any marks?" Raphael didn't care about their fight, the attack, his wound, Heaven, Hell- He did not care for anything but making sure his love was ok.
"Eh, I’ve got some streaks on my wrists. They look like tattoos."
The angel grabbed both of his hands and gently rubbed his thumb against one of the markings. He couldn't heal them "Oh, my lovely goat…" He said in a soft voice.
"It's nothing I can’t handle, sunshine."
"You shouldn't have done that. I'm-"
"Don't apologize, you didn't do anything wrong."
Raphael pulled Aze up to his feet, making him stand up, and softly placing one hand on his husband's cheek while the other kept holding the demon’s hands.
"I'm so grateful for you."
He said leaning in until their lips connected.
