Oh god.
What did Mitsuki do in her life to give her all this karma?
Her son has done it again. He went out of his way to get into the most unbelievable bullshit that, of course, would only happen to him.
Even with the whole thing explained to her it’s still hard to completely wrap her brain around it.
She looked over to the baby, Katsu if she remembered correctly, who was fast asleep in the arms of his father. Now that she was no longer filled with utter confusion and rage it allowed her to finally get a good look at Katsu. He was quite a cute baby. Round, rosie cheeks and the little soft tufts of brown hair. It’s no surprise he’s adorable, he is her grandson after all.
Huh, grandson.
That little innocent baby, her grandson.
Fuck, that makes her a grandma. At just 48, her 17 year old son made her a grandma. Shit. If she didn’t love her son he’d be a dead man by now.
Masura wasn't faring well either. His hands fidgeted without his knowing. Knowing her husband she reached out and grabbed one of his hands, halting their movement for him.
Masura, feeling reassured from his wife, gathered the courage to speak up but was interrupted by the cries of Katsu.
“Shit, he probably needs his diaper changed.” Katsuki stands from the couch, reaching towards Kaminari for the baby. “Give him to me, I'll take care of it really quick.”
“Oh, no worry Kacchan! You got him last time so I got this one.” Kaminari insisted.
Kacchan? Her son hated whenever Izuku would call him that (poor Izuku would get berated for it every time) and now here he is letting someone else call him something he loathed hearing his whole life.
She watched as her son gave the other boy an incredulous look before sighing and sitting down. The other boy takes his place in getting up to help Katsu.
“Just make sure not to get shit on you again,” he added, a giant shit-eating grin covering his face.
“Hey! That was only once and you said you wouldn't bring that up again!” The poor boy looked like he was about to catch on fire with how red his face got. Now embarrassed, he tried to leave for another room to change the diaper. Only a few steps were made before remembering that this isn't his house and he has no idea where to go.
Masura noticed the confusion immediately and decided to spare the boy from any more embarrassment, “Up the stairs, first room to the left. You can change Katsu there.”
“Right, uh, thank you.” He replied, hastily moving towards the stairs.
Once he made it up a few steps Mitsuki turned her attention back to her son. Who was busy looking down at their hands, picking at the calluses. A habit she had tried to stop but no luck.
“So, Katsuki, what's the plan now?”
That captured his attention away from his hands. “The same as before.” He looked at her as if she proclaimed she planned on joining the circus. “Graduate, work my ass off, and become number one. I'm not going to let some baby stop me from accomplishing my goals.”
All that answer earned from her was a sigh.
“Son, do you really think you can just keep doing the same as you were before? I know you've only been taking care of Katsu for a week but he is going to be taking up a lot of your focus and energy. Don't you think that you should shift your goals somewhat?” The older man voiced concern evident on his face.
Of course their son didn't react well to that, “What? You don't believe I can handle it?” His hands balled into fist at the idea.
“You know that's not what your father means, brat.” Mitsuki defends.
“Then what does he mean? Because it sure did sound like he doesn't believe I can be number one and raise Katsu.”
Great, he's even more ticked off.
As much as she hates to admit it, Masura was right, their son is just like her. So you would think she'd have an easier time getting through to him but they jell together as much as water and oil do. Not at all. Don't get it wrong, she loves her son more than anything but that doesn't mean she can't think he can be a dumbass.
“Jeez! He just wants you to think more before acting. We want you to be sure of your decisions and to understand what they mean for your future.” Her voice sounded a bit desperate towards the end for him to understand them. It's not that they don't think he can do it, it's just that they want him to know all the implications of his choices.
“I know I shouldn't butt in, but I do think Katsuki has thought this through.”
Whipping her head to the voice she realized it was just Kaminari, who had gone unheard returning while they others argued. Shit, that scared the shit out of her. Can't believe she forgot about him. Though from the slight jump the other two made it seems she wasn't the only one to forget.
“Well he was a bit apprehensive in the beginning, but without him I’d be totally lost in raising Katsu.” The little boy cooed upon hearing his name, “Even he agrees! So you don’t need to worry about Katsuki because he is the most capable person I know and I wouldn’t want to be in this situation with anyone else.” The young boy face was determined as he spoke, not taking eye contact off of her and Masura
“Wow, uh…” Masura couldn’t find the words to respond and she couldn’t blame him. To see someone have so much trust and devotion to their son is all they could dream of. After his fall out with Izuku there hasn’t been anyone else that has truly had the best interest in their son and actually been there for him.
“Tch, damn idiot, don’t say shit like that.” Katsuki turned away from Kaminari, not believing how he could say something so cheesy with a straight face.
No matter how hard he tried to hide it as his mother she could spot the blush dusting over his face a mile away. He has always been bashful when it came to others complementing outside of his quirk.
While this bout of courage didn’t erase her worries it did change how she was going to treat this situation from here on out. She wont let herself get in the way of getting to know her grandson.
Mitsuki stood from her spot on the couch, dragging everyone's attention towards her.
“If you guys are going to do this then you guys have to let me hold my grandbaby!”
