"What are you doing?" I ask him immediately after having a little giggle at my thoughts.
"I’m relaxing" he answers calmly.
"Of course! I had no doubt!" I exclaim sarcastically. I ignore him and throw myself on the bed trying to forget this bad day.
After a few minutes, someone knocks on the door, and after I open it, Nick and the others come in eager to hear some news. While the others sit down, Azel comes off the wall and sits on the floor with his back against the fence.
"So... What happened tonight?" asks Aria curiously.
"I shouldn’t tell you this story!" I reply a little annoyed since I would like to explain it to them myself.
"Why?" asks Azel.
"Because the headmaster will explain everything later!" I explain with a puff.
"What were you doing in his office?" asks my best friend.
"He told me a lot of things! I met your parents, Ice, and they asked me to help them find some people called 'the Chosen Ones' because they haven’t discovered them yet. They also informed me that we need Them to save the world!" I answer to Nick. Everyone glances at me like I'm a stranger, especially Ice.
"Why are you looking at me like that?" I ask confused by their stares.
"I don’t know! I don't like this, but if you need a hand remember we are always here for you!" Aria says looking at me with her bright eyes.
"Alright! Now let’s change the subject! We’ll think about this later!" Terra exclaims, trying to lighten the atmosphere.
"So... What do you want to talk about?" Alexa asks after a few seconds of silence.
"I don’t know... We say a lot about being friends but, in the end, if we think about it, neither of us knows the other" answers Nick.
"Why don’t we sit down and each tells something about himself! If we are to be a team, we must be able to trust each other blindly" I say, looking around for everyone’s approval.
"I’m in!" Ice exclaims.
We sit in a circle and with dubious eyes try to decide who should start.
"I’m sorry, but I won’t participate in this nonsense" Azel intervenes taking his backpack and trying to leave.
"Come on! You can’t mean it!" Luke scolds him angrily before he can open the door.
"You think I’m stupid enough to hand over to you the weapon that can kill me!" he answers with flames in his eyes. Even if he is angry, that gaze is gorgeous. Who knows how he will look at someone about to make his own!?
"By chance, don’t you like us?" asks Aria timidly with melancholy eyes. I assume she is a little afraid of his answer as we all are... Especially me!
Azel completely ignores the question and leaves, slamming the door.
"It’s not possible! He’s always the same!" I exclaim, huffing in disdain at his behaviour. I get up and decide to follow him.
"Where are you going?" Nick asks me.
"To check that he doesn’t do anything stupid" I answer annoyed.
Reaching the corridor I notice that, as usual, he vanishes into nothing and, if I want to find him, I must not be fooled by his tricks. What is the most isolated place in the dorm...? Of course! It's the roof! I head to the attic and, once there, I climb over the window that leads me directly outside and, as I had predicted, find Azel sitting on the ledge carving a tree’s bark with his cutter.
"Why are you acting like this? You’re not funny, you know?" I say sitting next to him.
After a few minutes of silence, he finally opens his mouth to talk.
"Do you ever feel afraid to shout out to the world what you are?"
"If I have to tell you the truth, yes! I live every day with the anxiety that someone will judge me" I answer, sighing.
He’s so handsome! Especially now that the air moves his beautiful silver hair. I wonder if they are soft...
"You shouldn’t! At least you’ve been able to accept yourself"
"What about you? Can’t accept yourself for who you are?"
"I don’t think and maybe I don’t want to do it!"
I look at him blinking a little because I'm quite surprised by his answer.
"Then how do you live?"
"If I could, I’d give my life to someone who deserves it more than me"
"Although it’s selfish if you could, I would want your life"
After those words, he turned to me and approached my face moving a strand of my hair and kissing me gently. We part after a few minutes and I feel my heart running wild. I don't know what to say so I only look him in the eye.
"You..."
"Come on, you can say it" I say with a laugh.
"Sorry, I can’t... It’s too weird!" he says, lying down and looking out under this huge starry sky.
"Come on, it’s not that hard!" I exclaim, teasing him a little.
"I just realized that I’m gay! Give me a break..." he says, covering his face with his hands.
"As you wish" I answer, lying next to him.
