The mom is his actual wife and she also has some time travel related power. She is the dukes actual daughter.
Points of suspicion:
1 whatever happened to his wife happened 5 years ago
2 mom looks like his wife
3 previous emperor was hiding them from the public
4 why did duke start a rebellion?
5 daughter has time travel powers when she dies, could be inherited from mom or could have used them from inside the womb
Of course the evidence against is that mom didn’t seem to know him (only a future amnesia or time travel plot could fix this)
