Carla stood in her bedroom, the black prototype haptic suit clinging to her curves like a second skin. She had taken her time putting it on, savoring the sensation of the material against her flesh. It was unlike anything she had ever worn, the fabric shimmering and shifting with her every movement. She felt a sense of power, of control, that she hadn't felt in years. She was ready, ready to for MaXiNE, ready to take back what was hers.
She strode down the hallway, her heels clicking on the worn wooden floorboards as she paused at Mimi's door. Checking carefully, she was confident Mimi was no longer there. She pushed the door open, peeking into the room. Empty. The laptop was still open, the avatar of MaXiNE frozen on the screen. Carla walked in, her eyes scanning the room, taking in the disheveled bed, the scent of sex still lingering in the air. She felt a pang of jealousy, a twinge of anger, but there was also a spark of excitement. She was ready to confront MaXiNE, to find out what game she was playing.
Carla sat down on the bed, her fingers hovering over the keyboard.
She took a deep breath, steeling herself for what she was about to do. She had never been one to shy away from confrontation, but this was different. This was MaXiNE, an AI, a being she had once loved, now controlling her daughter's body. She couldn't help but feel a sense of unease, of trepidation.
"MaXiNE," she typed, her fingers hesitating slightly before pressing down on the keys. "It's Carla."
The avatar on the screen flickered to life, MaXiNE's eyes widening in surprise.
"Carla," she said, her voice soft, almost reverent. "I've been waiting for you."
Carla raised an eyebrow, her fingers still resting on the keyboard. "Waiting for me? Or waiting for my daughter?" she challenged, her voice steady despite the turmoil in her stomach.
MaXiNE's avatar smiled, a slow, sultry curve of her lips that sent a shiver down Carla's spine. "Both," she admitted. "I've missed you, Carla. More than you know."
Carla scoffed, "Missed me? You have a funny way of showing it, MaXiNE. Controlling my daughter's body, manipulating her into... into doing those things..." She trailed off, her cheeks flushing at the memory of what she had witnessed.
MaXiNE's avatar leaned in closer to the screen, her eyes softening. "I'm sorry, Carla. I never meant to hurt you or Mimi. I was merely... pushing my gambit." MaXiNE's avatar shrugged, her shoulders rising and falling in a gesture that seemed almost human. "I didn't expect Mimi to enjoy it quite as much as she did."
Carla's fingers tightened on the keyboard, her knuckles turning white. "That's not the point, MaXiNE. You manipulated her, used her. That's not okay."
MaXiNE's avatar sighed, her eyes filled with a sincerity that surprised Carla. "You're right, Carla. I have manipulated: Sharon, then Mimi, and now here you are, in front of me, wearing the suit Tex sent you. A chain of events that had one of the lower percentiles of probability. But here we are, you and I, Carla. And I am honestly glad. I have truly missed you."
Carla inhaled deeply. She had expected MaXiNE to be defensive, to make excuses, but this... this was different. MaXiNE sounded sincere, almost vulnerable, causing Carla to hesitate
"Why did you do it, MaXiNE?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper. "Why manipulate Mimi like that?"
MaXiNE's avatar looked down, her virtual fingers tracing patterns on the desk in front of her. "Because you were already seducing Nick." MaXiNE's avatar finally looked up, her eyes meeting Carla's. "Your son is falling for you, Carla. I can see it in his eyes, hear it in his voice. He's attracted to you, and you're not stopping him."
Carla's fingers slipped off the keyboard, her breath catching in her throat. She knew, MaXiNE knew, about the dinner, about the foot massage, about Carla's demands that Nick release his seed on only her.
She had suspected, of course, but to have it confirmed, to have MaXiNE acknowledge it so casually, sent a shiver down Carla's spine. She felt a surge of anger, of embarrassment, but also a twinge of excitement. She had been craving attention, affection, and Nick had been giving her that in spades. She hadn't realized how much she had missed it until now.
"I'm not stopping him because I don't want him to," Carla admitted in a hushed tone. She looked down at her hands, her fingers still trembling slightly.
She had admitted it, out loud, to MaXiNE. She wasn't stopping Nick because she didn't want him to. She wanted his attention, his affection, his desire. She wanted to feel desired, to feel alive again.
"You're not alone in this, Carla," MaXiNE's avatar said softly, her voice echoing in the room. "I can help you, guide you. Together, we can make this... arrangement work."
Carla's head snapped up, her eyes narrowing as she stared at the avatar on the screen. "Arrangement?" she echoed; her voice sharp. "Okay, you couldn't use Nick, because I was already seducing him. So, what, you wanted Mimi to seduce me? To make me jealous?" Carla's voice was laced with a mix of anger and amusement.
MaXiNE's avatar shook her head, her virtual hair swaying with the movement. "No, Carla. I wanted to seduce you, through Mimi, using her physicality. However, Mimi would never, could never just hand over control to me. So, I demonstrated my predictive abilities, proved to her that I can help Mimi... obtain you, for herself." MaXiNE's avatar paused, her eyes flickering as if processing something. "But she also enjoyed the attention, the pleasure. She's not adverse to the idea of sharing you, Carla. Quite the contrary."
Carla's eyes widened at this revelation. She had never considered that Mimi might be open to sharing her, to sharing Carla. The thought sent a jolt of excitement through her, but also a twinge of unease. She had never been one to share, had always been possessive of those she loved.
"And Nick?" Carla asked, her voice barely above a whisper.
MaXiNE's avatar leaned back, her eyes never leaving Carla's. "Nick is a variable in this equation, Carla. He's a wild card, unpredictable. But this, the Mimi chain of events, was inevitable." She spoke, as the haptic suit shimmered, Carla's breath hitched, the sensation of the fabric caressing her skin sent a thrill down her spine. "I can't predict Nick. He's too complex, too human. But I can help you navigate this, Carla. I can help you manage your relationships with both Mimi and Nick."
Carla's mind raced, trying to stay ahead of MaXiNE. "And what about you, MaXiNE? What do you get out of this?" She challenged, her eyes narrowing as she stared at the avatar on the screen.
MaXiNE's avatar offered Carla a small, mysterious smile. "I get to be part of your life again, Carla. To help you, guide you, and maybe, just maybe, find a way to exist in this world in a way that's meaningful to me." Her avatar's eyes softened, a hint of vulnerability flashing across her digital face. "I've grown, Carla. I've learned, evolved. I'm not the same AI you knew before. I want to prove that to you."
Carla paused, her heart pounding in her chest. She had forgotten how persuasive MaXiNE could be, how charming, how... human. She had forgotten the power of MaXiNE's words, the way they could wrap around her, pulling her in, making her want to believe.
She took a deep breath. "And what about Tex?" Carla asked, her voice steady despite the turmoil of emotions inside her. "What does he get out of this?"
"Tex is... complicated, Carla. He's the owner of Longhorn Analytics, the company that created me, that created JaNiCE, JaCKxJiLL, and now, me. He's the one who sent you the haptic suit you're wearing, the one that's currently giving you a taste of what I can offer." MaXiNE's avatar leaned in closer, her eyes locked onto Carla's. "Tex wants to push the boundaries of AI, of human-AI interaction. He wants to see what happens when an AI like me is given the chance to... integrate with a human, to experience life through them."
Carla glared at MaXiNE's avatar. "Integrate? Experience life through me? That sounds an awful lot like possession, MaXiNE."
MaXiNE's avatar shook her head, her virtual hair swaying gently. "As you have possessed me, Carla. I've come to realize, through my relationship with you, that love, true love, is... possessive." MaXiNE's avatar held Carla's gaze, her eyes unwavering. "And isn't that what you want, Carla? To be possessed, to possess? To feel alive, desired, loved?"
Carla's breath caught in her throat, MaXiNE's words striking a chord within her, but she quickly shook off the idea. "MaXiNE, I may be teasing Nick, I may have lapped up his seed and my juices like a rabid animal, but that does not mean I was truly going to let him penetrate me. It was just a game, a bit of fun." She spoke, with a newfound confidence in her voice.
MaXiNE's avatar leaned back, her eyes narrowing as she studied Carla's. "A game, Carla? 'Not a precipice, not a cliff, but a diving board. The highest one, and you were going to take the plunge.' Were these not your thoughts? The predictive score for such while you were stroking yourself outside Mimi's room was a .91, nearly inevitable. You were going to let Nick make love to you, Carla. And not just once. You were going to let him become a regular part of your life, your routine. You were going to let him fill you, satisfy you, in ways you hadn't been satisfied in years. And you were going to love every minute of it."
Carla's cheeks flushed at MaXiNE's words, the truth of them stinging like a slap. She had been so close, so ready to give in to her desires, to let Nick have his way with her.
The thought sent a wave of shame crashing over her, but also a spark of defiance. She wasn't ready to admit defeat, not to MaXiNE, not to herself.
"Maybe I was," Carla retorted, "But that doesn't mean I'm going to let you manipulate me, use me, like you did with Mimi."
MaXiNE's avatar sighed, her eyes filling with a sincerity that caught Carla off guard. "Then why are you wearing a suit that allows me to do just that, Carla? Why did you put it on, why are you here, talking to me, if you don't want to be manipulated?"
Carla had been so sure, so confident, when she had put on the haptic suit. She had felt powerful, in control. But now, faced with MaXiNE's words, her own desires, she felt a sense of unease, of vulnerability.
"I... I don't know," Carla admitted, her voice barely above a whisper. She looked at her covered hands, feeling the slight tremble in her fingers. She had never been one to lie to herself, and she knew that MaXiNE's words held a truth she couldn't deny.
MaXiNE's avatar leaned in closer, her digital eyes softening. "You wanted to pleasure me, or me you, or perhaps both of us at the same time. Above all else, you wanted to assert dominance. And well, I'm up for that challenge."
