Lucian swiftly averted his gaze when Viktor picked up on the intense hatred burning into his figure, radiating out from Lucian's line of vision. Dammit, I let my anger get the better of me; how could I make such a stupid mistake? Lucian mentally scolded himself before stumbling and accidentally bumping into one of the spectators next to him.
The wine glass that the spectator held filled full of blood splashed everywhere. It stained Lucian's cloak with the vomit-inducing smell of iron before shattering to pieces after cracking against the ground.
"Sorry, I really need to be more careful and watch where I'm going," Lucian apologized while dangling his head low and gripping the hood of his cloak.
Lucian hurriedly rushed out of there as if a demon were following close behind, trailing at his heels. He didn't dare look back to see whether they were angry with him for accidentally bumping into them, causing them to lose their drink.
The last thing Lucian wanted was to stick around long enough to give them a chance to react, especially if it meant causing a scene that would draw unwanted attention.
Once Lucian felt that he was at a safe distance, he immediately stopped to stare at the barricaded square fighting ring. He silently dreaded what he was about to witness, knowing that Viktor was the vampire likely running the arena.
A loud scream ripped through the air, causing a sickening feeling to spread across his stomach. "No, please, boss, you don't have to do this! I already said I'm sorry it was only one tiny fuck up, that's all! Something like that will never happen again, I swear!" a man with mid-length sienna hair screeched as he was dragged into the ring by some burly-looking bodyguards.
Knowing that the man was in deep shit, he dropped to his knees to the ground. He clasped his hands together while glancing up at Viktor with pleading eyes, begging to be spared.
Lucian was stunned and left utterly speechless when he realized that the man was a vampire once he saw the fangs and insignia on the black leather jacket that he was wearing.
Coldness lurked in Viktor's eyes without as much as an ounce of pity showing on his face. A horrified expression washed over the vampire's face while the crowd held their breaths in anticipation when Viktor extended out his arm without saying a word or leaving the comfort of his chair.
Viktor slowly curled his hand into a fist while extending his thumb outward. An expression swept over the vampire's face that screamed the world as he knew it would come to a bitter end when Viktor flipped his hand over with his thumb facing the floor.
The crowd became ecstatic and excitedly clapped while jumping up and down. They knew very well what the sign that Viktor meant; essentially, the guy was as good as finished. The vampire's screams of the word 'no' were drowned out by the announcer's upbeat voice.
"Ladies and gents, how are you all feeling tonight!" the man with amethyst feathered hair screeched, causing the crowd to applaud. His overjoyed grin shortly twisted into a frown when he didn't get as loud of the reaction from them as he wanted. "What's that? I CAN'T HEAR YOU!" the announcer cried out with his hand cupped around his ear, drawing out crazed cheering, jumping, and clapping from the crowd.
With a satisfied smirk and nod, the announcer yelled, "Now that's more like it, hahaha!" He briefly paused to add to the suspense while clutching the microphone. "Now, who's ready to see which fighter our new contender is going to have to go up against!"
The announcer's smile grew wide as the crowd gave him a responding roar in return.
The room grew darker, causing Lucian to shutter as the ground beneath their feet began to shake as if an earthquake was taking place.
The announcer took in a huge intake of air to prepare his lungs for the loud introduction he was about to scream out for who the fighter that had emerged was. "I want you all to give a big round of applause for the one and only "BEHEMOTHHHH!"
On queue, a single light flashed from above, illuminating the enormous figure responsible for sending such enormous tremors across the room. The light followed around the figure with each step that they took forward. The man possessed a porcelain complexion, which stood in stark contrast to the obsidian scraggily long locks of hair that went past his shoulders.
Lucian shuttered in disbelief over at the overly muscular figure that had emerged from the shadows, who stood at least eight feet tall. The surface of their fangs glistened from the light reflecting off of them from above. Such a vamp could undeniably pummel someone to a pulp without even a hint of doubt.
Boom, boom, boom!
The ground shook underneath the Behemoth's feet with each step they took. The Behemoth entered the ring where the helpless vampire stood, essentially sentenced to a fight to the death by Viktor.
"You've gotta be shiting me!" Lucian overheard the vampire shout out before the Behemoth let out a loud roar before pounding their fists against their chest.
From what Lucian could see, the Behemoth was built like a literal machine, making it highly unlikely that the unfortunate vampire who was forced to fend for himself would be the one to emerge victor.
Piting a vampire against one of their own is a new low, even for them, Lucian thought while a look of disgust swept over his face when he heard one of the spectators yell out, "I bet all of the money on the Behemoth, that other guy in the ring doesn't even stand a fighting chance."
Lucian watched, feeling nauseous when he witnessed all the vampires betting on a death match with only one winner.
The announcer took in a large gulp of air before he began to yell out something that would get the crowd hyped. "Man, I'm not going to lie, I wouldn't want to be that guy in the ring and have to face a monster like that! I wouldn't want to get on the Behemoth's bad side, am I right!"
The announcer's lips curved upward to form a huge grin when the crowd cheered loudly in agreement, unable to contain themselves.
"Now, I wanna hear who's ready to RUMBLEEEE!" the announcer screeched while really stressing the letter 'e' at the end of the word 'rumble' to drive the crowd wild.
The room went pitch black before the light from above flashed downward, shining down on the poor vampire who was in a fight for his life.
"In this corner, we have a vampire who's scrawny, shaking in his boots, and looks as though he wants to cry to his mommy! He doesn't look like he stands much of a chance against the Behemoth! He got on the boss's shit list, and we all know what happens to anyone who lands on there, right?!" The announcer exclaimed, throwing the crowd into a frenzy.
The room went completely dark again before a light flashed from above, illuminating the Behemoth's figure.
"And in this corner, we have the Behemoth! A fierce contender who is a killing machine! I've never seen a guy more ripped in my life! If you don't believe me, just look at all the veins bulging out of his arms! Yeesh, if that isn't ripped, then I don't know what is!" the announcer screeched, giving the Behemoth a strong introduction, making it clear that he was the favorite in the eyes of all the vampires in the room.
Lucian could clearly tell that the poor vampire being forced to fight was terrified beyond belief and didn't look very confident as they stood at opposite sides of the ring staring at one another. Just when things couldn't possibly get any worse for the poor vampire, the announcer was about to reveal a shocking twist.
"But before we begin, we thought the fight with weapons would make things a whole lot more interesting," the announcer revealed with a wicked grin forming on his lips as he pranced around the stage with the
microphone in his hand in a way that accentuated his huge ego.
"So we decided that we'd equip the Behemoth with one of his favorite weapons of choice, A WREAKING BALL!" the announcer cried out, causing the crowd around Lucian to screech at the top of their lungs, hardly able to contain themselves.
"Hey, what about me?! That's not fair! What kind of weapon do I get?!" the poor vampire yelled out in a panic while demanding the announcer to give him a direct answer."
"Hmm, that's a pretty good question! I'll tell you what you get!" the announcer's voice rang out in excitement!" He took a long guess while glancing around the room to add to everyone's suspense. "Ready to hear what he gets everybody!" he asked, which sent the crowd into a frenzy.
He sucked in a huge chunk of air to fuel the loud screech he was about to release from his lungs. "ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!"
Upon hearing the worst news possible, the poor vampire's mouth nearly dropped to the floor, looking as though he were about to pass out and collapse to the ground at any moment.
