“You truly believe your lover will come save you?”
“I never said I needed to be saved.”
“Oh dear, but from here, it looks like you are in desperate need of it.”
There are three rules the village of Ereos follows:
1. Never wander into the woods alone.
2. Never leave the safety of your cottage past nightfall.
3. And never, ever, leave a light on. It's seen as an invitation—and invitations here are fatal.
Vera wants nothing more than to live a life in the shadows—to not be seen or heard. Not a second glance from prying eyes as she works in her family's field…
But an ancient god lurks in the darkness, waiting for their offerings—in return, it will keep them safe from famine, blight, and other terrors that plague them. All they ask for is six, young sacrifices on the day of summer solstice every year.
But what happens when Vera’s little sister is chosen? What happens when Vera leaves at night to enter the woods alone to save her?
Are the gruesome hymns sung to her as a child true? What will happen once she steps foot into his domain?
