Hero gripped his right wrist where a mark lay hidden under his sleeve. His worry about his sister's fight weighed like a stone in his heart.
"She won't break the code," Okami assured. Hero looked up at him. "None of the demons' dirty tricks will make her break the code."
Okami touched the collar of his shirt where his own mark lay wrapped around his neck. He knew Hero's feeling well.
"We've already broken the code of not killing humans once," Okami said, his tone tinged with regret like soft rain over a funeral. "And once was enough."
The sound of the reapers ordering the humans around snapped the two back into reality. They saw the reapers splitting up the group into one that went back to their cells and the other to the arena to view the fight.
"Looks like they're separating us," Okami noticed.
"But why?" Hero asked. Okami crossed his arms.
"I don't know, but I'll have my shadow go with the group that's not going inside," Okami stated. "We'll go inside incase the demons try to pull something."
"Got it," Hero replied, seriously.
Risika had followed the tunnel the Top Hat man ordered her to take. The light coming from it led her to a giant arena. People were there in droves as spectators. She could sense demons and humans mixed into the crowd. Because humans were there, she couldn't risk attacking every demon in sight and them getting caught in the crossfire.
From a high seat in the stands, secluded for one person viewing, a man with groomed dark hair, a mustache with beard and a pristine dark violet suit sat on a throne adorned in bright violet crystals. He looked down with eyes of pure black at the checkerboard styled arena.
It won't be long now, he thought, his demonic aura itching with excitement at seeing humans destroying each other for an attempt at freedom. Their fear, their anxiety, their giving into their bloodlust was like an intoxicating drug and he was ready for his high.
"There's our girl," Okami said from where he and Hero were sitting. The Top Hat man came to the center of the arena as the lights shown on him.
"Welcome, Ladies and Gentlemen!" he greeted. "We have a real good show for you tonight!"

After a hundred years in sleep, three hybrids of angel and demon awaken with a new mission by the angels they work with: eliminate the demons torturing humans in an amusement park. Sounds easy, right? The demons aren't the only threats in the park, however, and will our trio be prepared to find out who's really running the show?
(This is a novelized version of my manga of the same name. Please feel free to check it out as well!)
