Fortunately, the team was too busy to start any other discussions, even after what had happened, making it a hard and busy day.
It was already late evening, and the two had finished work but had to complete some reports. The sound of their growling stomachs became loud.
Maria couldn't help but notice Kilee and burst into giggles. "Maybe I should cook something," she suggested with a playful smile, eyeing Kilee mischievously.
"Hah, look at her, shes in the same boat but prank only me," said Kilee.
"Alright, alright," continued Maria while getting up. "What would you like?".
Kilee crossed her eyebrows, trying to think of something. "How about a mixed salad or something light?" It was already late.
"Deal!" Maria exclaimed, then took two bowls, the salad, olives, and other ingredients while Kilee continued working. Before she knew it, she glanced at Maria, feeling warm. Her mind was already hugging her, but reality was far from that. Maria had beautiful round cheeks and big eyes, a soft smile on her lips, and pinky lips. "What am I thinking?" Kilee was ashamed. Suddenly, she noticed that Maria was looking at her with some concern.
"I'm... hungry," said suddenly to change the subject.
"The food is almost done," she said, turning back to chop the salad.
The evening ended quickly, and the night passed by. It was already morning, and the sun shone brightly, its rays streaming into my eyes. "Aaah, I'm sleepy!" I tossed and turned in bed, not wanting to get up.
A knock on the door brought me back to reality. "Maria, you're up?" It was strange at first to be roused up by my boss, but now it has become way too comfortable. "Yeah, I'll be out in a minute." I am not a morning person.
Meanwhile, Kilee prepared the coffee and took a scroll on her tablet. Before going to bed, Maria wrote down the schedule for the day. They were a great team!
Meanwhile, in the other part of the city, Ioan had a quiet morning.
"Can you stop calling me?" said Ioan angrily at his phone. "Irina, youre unreasonable, it was you who cheated on me and twice!" he held up without letting her speak more.
The phone was constantly ringing. Even when he blocked all her numbers, she would call from another number. However, he had no intention of speaking to her; his only focus was Maria. Spending so much time searching for her and finding her with another man made him angry.
Ioan was still dealing with a lot of emotional turmoil and frustration. That would be a long day.
He got the car and went to work one hour earlier, staying in the car, waiting for Maria to come to work so he could talk with her. Time passed by very slowly, and his impatience grew stronger.
All kinds of people started to arrive one by one. It was almost time for him to get in, too. He waited and waited, but Maria wasn't there. Where was she?
Standing in that full elevator, waiting for the door to close, he saw the director talking with one of the secretaries. Besides them was her, Maria! But it was too late to talk to her, and there were too many people.
He stood before his desk, looking at the empty desk, immersed in his memories. Everyone could notice with just a glance that something was wrong. It was already eleven, and he took a break. He was standing in a corner with his coffee, thinking of a way to talk with her without many people around, when he noticed from the window that the secretary was talking with someone very loudly. There, indeed, was a problem or something. Looking better at them, he saw that the person who was dealing with them was no other than the director. If he was there, then maybe she was there too!
He looked attentively behind the corner to scorn a trace of Maria, but she was not there; then, she must have been in her office on the ninth floor.
Ioan quickly drank the coffee and threw the cup in the trash. He then went straight to Maria's office on the ninth floor to confront her. He was consumed by thoughts of her moving on and felt his anger rising.
He is determined to uncover the truth and vents straight in. She was surprised to see Ioan in her office doorway, his face flushed with anger, leaving her fearful and confused.
"What brings you here?" Maria asked, seeing him getting onto the director's floor. That place was not for someone like him; he shouldn't be there.
He looked at her intensely. "What's the meaning of this?" asked him, leaving Maria momentarily speechless.
"What are you talking about?" continued her firmly.
He took some steps toward her, making her blood turn cold. There was something wrong. She had known him for a long time; she knew when he was mad.
At that moment, Helena exited the elevator and saw this scene before her.
"Everything is alright? " she asked, stepping in as a jaguar on her prey. She did not like Ioan; he had something fishy.
"AH, eh... nothing..." he tried to explain. His excuse did not convince Helena. She could feel his unease and knew he had something to hide. She narrowed her eyes and growled a warning.
"Go back to work," she said firmly while looking at him. He could nod and stroll away, not daring to look back.
He knew he had to keep his head down and be careful. He couldn't afford to lose this job. After he left, Maria let out a sigh of relief.
Helena stood there looking at her, but her expression was somehow unreadable. Helena couldn't shake the feeling that something was between them. She was determined to keep an eye on Ioan; his comportment made her suspect. She liked Maria a lot. She was the perfect match for her cousin and wouldn't let anyone hurt her.
After discovering that her boyfriend was cheating, Maria was offered a job at B-Corp, the company of her dreams. However, she was surprised to be hired as the secretary for the workaholic director, Kyle. The only hope remains that they will understand each other over time and eventually learn to communicate. Or will there be more?
