Chapter 16.
Could it be…
She was surprised, she had always believed that mobsters were faithful to their partner for their entire lives out of loyalty, however, he was telling her that those were simply facts that some producers had invented to make the plot more attractive…
If reality was very different, this man must have other women around him, and if so, ¿why didn't he leave her aside and stay with his favorites?, ¿Why did he have to give her the benefit of developing herself before him?, ¿What should she do?, ¿Should she kill other people so that he would leave her aside and not make her life miserable or should she simply obey his rules?
Her attention was on his thoughts and he was watching how her forehead wrinkled for a second and then returned to normal, there was a hint of pain in her eyes, perhaps the girl was feeling the burden that he must have, which is why he told her: don't worry or think about it so much, you will take my wife's place; Whatever happens within our marriage doesn't have to leave the four walls.
She looked at him and lowered her head, she didn't know what to answer, she was a lonely person who was practically forced to marry without love and obey a person she didn't know and who was twice her age...
The man was 41 years old and she was only 27 and had been in a coma for two years, which is why she felt like she was 25 internally... his hazel eyes seemed to contain a bottomless darkness, his scar and his burn made her feel intimidated, ¿what the hell was waiting for her inside her marriage?, ¿Could she be happy?
That was what she asked herself, she hadn't realized that she had been sitting at that table for almost an hour and a half with half of her breakfast, with her nerves on edge, her heart in her hand and her tears begging to come out.
She didn't want to feel used, but basically that was her Fate, her mother had not been very smart in her youth to get involved with Leo; any man was better than that parent she had given her, even a vagabond would have been more considerate of her as his daughter than the filth he had known and was already offering her as a bargaining chip.
When the man stood up she did not realize it and before leaving her with her thoughts, he let a kiss rest on her shoulder like an anonymous farewell that remains in the air…
She heard the man's footsteps leave until he was completely away… she saw them come to clear the table, but she was still sitting, no one seemed to be completely interested if she was still there or not, but, on the contrary, they ignored her presence and continued on their way as if she really were a ghost that inhabited the place, a desolate ghost that did not know how to scare away those who inhabited the haunted property.
