Chapter 13.
Fire.
The woman opened her eyes to find herself staring at by her jailer, the man who had hurt her dozens of times… that man who had raised a gun in front of her; the same man who pushed her away when she was pregnant and made her feel humiliated…
That same man had just woken her up and for some reason she was handcuffed to the bed, before she could even say anything, Leo wiped the sweat from his forehead and silently lay down beside her…
This brought back memories of her youth, and he knew it, he was using that card to his advantage, he was a manipulator who at 23 years old locked her in a house and set it on fire just to hear her beg for help, and he would go in to get her out of the scorching flames that burned her skin.
He was a cruel, ruthless and heartless man, but he was the man she had loved and hated the most at the same time, however, now that he involved their daughter in a marriage with God knows who…
History could repeat itself and that was what she was afraid of, because she knew that her daughter was not as strong and brave as she was... she did not have the wood to survive, but, on the contrary, her eyes would water, and she would cry, and in the world that Leo operates in, one cannot show weakness or much less fragility, so in the silence of dawn, she told him: please, cut my body into pieces, but free my daughter, I promise you that I will not appear in front of you anymore and much less make you feel responsible for her, but set her free, she does not deserve to learn to survive in such a cruel world.
She thought that the man was asleep and had not heard her, but his hoarse voice answered: It is very late, her future husband, and she has already seen each other for the first time, and he has been getting to know her from a distance since she was only 15 years old, now she is asleep and do not ask me for things that you know I will not fulfill.
That revelation left the woman impressed… So much time had passed since she had been away from the world for nothing; in the same way, the world in which her father moved would always reach her, what she did not know and did not expect to hear was that the man she was destined to marry had seen her in secret since she was a teenager.
That made her feel like the worst mother in the world, one who is not even capable of protecting her children, ¿how had she let history repeat itself? She only prayed that she would not suffer calamities in her marriage, it was not fair for a girl who was afraid of the ghosts that lurked in the night,
that the shadow of the trees could terrify her outside her house as if she was being watched all the time…
