Chapter 11.
Playing along.
Brandon noticed the shy Juliet clapping and almost shouting bravo, bravo, bravo, magnificent performance… the other people who were watching not only the girl, seeing that the man had done the same, also stood up and applauded perhaps it was because he was a multimillionaire and had much more power than any of those present, who could be considered nouveau riche or simple people of good fortune.
The fact that a man of that level congratulated the performance, was practically like a distinguished award to the actors who had participated in that play with such detail.
Some photographers who were present took photos of the moment not only when Julieta congratulated her, but also when Mr. Brandon had played along with his companion, and while they were heading to the exit.
One of the paparazzi openly asked him if the girl was his love interest, so putting on a hard face Brandon said: this girl is my daughter, she is Norman's fiancée, ¿can't I come to the theater to enjoy a play that is shown once every 50 years with my daughter-in-law?
So the paparazzi was impressed and wanted to ask more questions inquiring what the girl's name was, who her family was, where they lived and what she did for a living…
The cameras with the flashes blinded Julieta, who tried to cover herself with one of her hands, then Brandon took her by one of her shoulders and guided her to the car where he chivalrously opened the door for her and there she entered, letting out the air she had inside once the door closed properly.
There was no turning back, and they had practically stolen all the attention of the media present there, leaving aside any other celebrity who was at the Theatre, because the news that Norman Reing was engaged was the boom that all the magazines and newspapers needed.
Brandon asked her about the play and if she had liked it, to which she replied that it had been a beautiful play, full of sensitivity and human details; her actors were really very well-prepared in detail for every little expression and every emotion.
Brandon confirmed that the play had been like that, completely captivating, but that it was very likely that in the future new generations would not feel the need to continue performing it at least once in their lives… Probably the manuscript would be forgotten when they were intimidated by new projects.
She told him that she felt lucky to have been able to see him when he was still alive, although, on the other hand, she felt very uncomfortable with all those people looking at her and all the camera flashes, which made her feel as if she were guilty of some murder.
He laughed a little at the expression she used, but he said: calm down, it is normal for you to feel that way because you have not had a public life at this point, but that she should get used to it from now on, because when she went out with her son to meetings and celebrations the flashes and questions would also come, so she had to be well-prepared culturally for any question that was asked with the intention of humiliating her…
She simply said to him: ¿do you really think that a woman like me is prepared for a life like that?, and he told her: absolutely I believe it, we all have the capacity to obtain this type of life, it is just that people continue to think like poor people and that is why they live their whole lives full of debts…
