Ikol nodded to Luciel then reached for the magimob in his desk drawer.
“The fabrics and yarns are with my wife at home.” Ikol said as he dialled a number on his magimob. “I’ll just ask her to come over, she’s been wanting to see you anyway. In the meantime, do take a seat.”
Ikol’s call was picked up.
“Eiira dear?” His eyes softened as he spoke. “Could you come over with the enchanted fabrics and yarns you did for Luciel?”
“…”
“Yes, he’s here with me right now.”
“…!”
“Now now, no need to rush. Just get here in one piece.” Ikol chuckled and started to speak of trivial things with his wife on the magimob.
Luciel walked
over to the leather armchair Ikol had gestured to, he sat down and sighed in
comfort, perhaps I should get a few of
these for home, big bear would certainly enjoy it. He looked around as he
waited for Ikol’s call to finish. Ikol’s office had a large ceiling to floor
window that was as wide as a wall behind where Ikol’s desk was situated. On either side of the doorway stood two magnificent
trophy cabinets, filled with achievements from students long graduated or
currently enrolled. The two walls parallel to each other on the left and right
of the room were covered in books of all kinds; magic books, story books,
instruction books, academic books, forbidden books, adult books… let’s
ignore that last one. The smell of books permeated the air. The book wall
nearest to Luciel had a parting in the bookshelves, where there was a fireplace
roaring with a gently crackling fire.
The office was quiet and warm, the occasional jovial voice of Ikol talking with his wife blended in with the background. Luciel had just finished the last treatment and restoration of his body, naturally he was quite tired. Within the cosy atmosphere of the office, he gradually fell asleep, curled up in the armchair, his breath softening and steady.
Ikol was just wrapping up the call with his wife as he glanced at Luciel, only to be momentarily stunned before gently chuckling.
“…?”
“Be sure to be quiet when you come into the office.” Ikol lowered his voice. “He’s just fallen asleep.”
“…!?”
“He’s alright, it’s a good thing, you’ll see when you get here.” Ikol reassured his worried wife.
“…”
“Love you too, see you in a bit.” Ikol hung up and placed his magimob back into his drawer quietly.
He picked up the quill on his desk, dipped it into the ink pot and proceeded to mark Sera’s history homework whilst waiting for his wife’s arrival. The rest of Sera’s homework would be marked by the teachers who set it, and the records would be handed to him the next day to check that Sera can be pardoned from her parents being told. However, I do believe that Luciel’s question is going to make the lass’s efforts to be done in vain… oh well.
After an hour quietly passed, the sound of the platform rising to Ikol's office could be heard. The platform came to a halt revealing a stern elegant lady with dark brunette hair combed back into an immaculate bun, with small ringlets framing her face, her dark red eyes scanned the office taking in the harmonious sight. Her lips curled up gently causing her sternness to fade away, replaced by a smothering gentleness.
Looking upon Luciel, who was curled up quietly in the armchair, she realized what her husband meant by a good thing, Luciel's looking healthier than he has in a long, long, long time, which means... She made eye contact with Ikol pointing towards Luciel with her brow raised. Ikol nodded with a grin, put down his quill and put both thumbs up at his wife and then gestured a complete circle with his fingers and showed thumbs-up once again. His wife’s eyes sparkled in cheer, she tried not to make a sound as she didn't want to wake Luciel up.
He woke up anyway though, as he sensed a new presence in the room. He uncurled himself and stretched as he stood up, greeted by the looks of pity from the husband and wife.
“Oh Luciel, you could've kept sleeping, you clearly needed to rest.” Eiira sighed regretfully, He looked cute curled up in the chair... I should've taken a picture for that silly boy Phim.
“I can't spend too much time sleeping, I've somewhere else to be today a bit later.” Luciel shrugged.
“Eiira, the goods.” Ikol reminded her.
“Right, yes.” Eiira brought out a large bundle from her magic bag and passed them to Luciel.
“Thank you.” Luciel smiled. “Lately the Twins have been going through more and more clothes due to sudden transformations and it's going to be a while until they stabilize, so I figured I'd make them several sets of size adjusting clothes.”
“I had a feeling as such.” Eiira chuckled. “We Titans are much the same when young, shifting between our full size and human size. It could get quite hectic.”
“I can imagine.” Luciel nodded. “Luckily so far, the kids haven’t shown any signs of shifting into Titans, or by now we'd have had to move house several times, then again Phim never shifted into a Titan either.”
“For late bloomers in the Titan clan, it could even take centuries to start shifting, especially mixed races. All descendants inherit the Titan’s strength though.” Eiira explained.
“I'll make some for Phim too then.” Luciel took note. “Now then, what exactly did Sera do?”
The conversation suddenly switched to Ikol leaving him a bit dazed for a moment.
“Cough Right, well simply put, she succeeded in pulling a prank on me in front of the entire student body, so as punishment I tasked her with a month's worth of homework within a week.” Ikol cleared his throat and glanced at Luciel. “Or I'd tell you, her Mother, all about it. Honestly telling you was more of an incentive to get her to do it.”
“I see, however, that was supposed to be an impossible task to complete, wasn't it?” Luciel crossed his arms, brow raised. “Because that girl is always asleep during history class, as you’d know.”
Ikol scratched his nose guiltily.
“I'm not mad about it.” Luciel chuckled. “She got exposed by you as the pranker, of course she needs to learn the consequences of being found out. So that she can hone and improve herself afterwards.”
“Yes, kids need to learn through their mistakes.” Eiira thoroughly agreed.
“And I can guess why she always sleeps through class, for which I must thank you.” Luciel smiled. “I had neglected raising their resistance to sleep charms over the years.”
“Hahaha, it's alright, in fact just this morning that lass of yours dispelled my sleep charm, but she couldn’t control the range and dispelled it for every student!” Ikol laughed heartily. “Ah, it was fun chaos in those few minutes.”
Eiira and Luciel laughed along with him.
“Ahem, by the way Sir.” Eiira shyly brought a book out of her magic bag. “Could you sign the book?”
Luciel was surprised for a brief moment.
“Of course, I can.” He smiled gently as he took the book Eiira passed over. “On the cover or inside?”
“On the inside please.” Eiira grinned.
“Here you go.” Luciel passed the book back after using his mana to sign it. “I'm glad you liked the book.”
“I love all your books! So does Ikol.” Eiira smiled pleasantly. “The historic events depicted in these books feel so real! It's always so hard to put it down.”
“When's your next book going to be out?” Ikol inquired.
“I've yet to write it.” Luciel shrugged. “I'll be collecting references first and then it'll take a while to write it. So, it'll be some time until it's published. Speaking of, I must go. One of the references I need is far away, and I need to go now if I'm going to be home for dinner.”
Ikol stood and walked next to his wife. The couple spread their arms and surrounded Luciel in a hug.
“It was good to see you.” Ikol patted Luciel’s back.
“Take care of yourself.” Eiira warmly reminded him.
“You two as well, take care of yourselves.” Luciel hugged back. “Ikol, I leave Sera’s skill development in your crafty hands.”
“Leave it to me!” Ikol laughed.
Luciel turned around and strode out the office, going back down on the platform.
