A week has passed since when I moved into the director's house. We use our time to work overtime and usually eat together every meal. It's warm to stay with Kilee, even if we are just working. But I know I have to move away one day, and then I will be all alone again.
"Hey Maria, what are you thinking about?" Kilee was beside me, holding a glass of yogurt and looking at me. "You seem strange," she laughed.
"Ah, sorry. I fell into my thoughts." Her deep eyes were looking right into mine. She was stunning. The fact that the director is a woman initially left me speechless.
Look at me. I was first sad that I had to leave, but now I'm thinking of something else. Did I turn into a pervert?
"Are you sure you are fine?" asked Kilee, placing the yogurt on the peninsula behind us and stroking my forehead to see if I had a fever.
My heart started racing suddenly at that moment; everything was clear; I was beginning to catch feelings for Kilee.
"Really, I am fine," I said, laughing a little. "I was thinking about getting a new house," I said, noticing her eyebrows furrowed.
"Why?" That simple question made me hope, but did I have the right to stay here. I knew I had to say something.
"I can't stay here forever." Hearing that, she placed one hand on my right and the other on my left on the kitchen island and looked deeply at me.
"Stay," that's the only word she murmured to me. Out breaths were mixing. It was delirious. I was losing my mind, hoping to receive a kiss.
The phone ringing turned me back to reality. I turned back and grabbed it, but Kilee took it from my hand. "Then you're answer?" asked her.
"I will stay," I said, blushing like a tomato all season. She then let me go and turned at her yogurt.
"But I can't stay here for free," I continued. She turned back and looked at me. "Then what do you propose to pay rent?" she was somehow laughing.
"If you don't want me to pay rent, how about cooking?" I asked.
She grinned big, "That's great coming out. I will leave the cooking part to you," she said before leaving the living room.
Once in her room, Kilee sat on the bed, lying backward, and put one hand on her forehead. "It's like you're my wife," she said in a low voice.
Maria was still in that place, trying to calm her heart.
The phone started to ring again. It was Helena, the secretary.
"Hello" asnwered Maria.
"Hii, Helena here! I'm calling you to let you confirm that the documents are ready." What was she talking about? Did we miss something?
"The documents?" I asked her, concerned.
"Oh yes," she continued. Director Kaji has already confirmed the new business and sent the documents. I will email them to you shortly.
"Awesome! That's great." I was happy to hear that.
"Yeah! I have to go now. Bye." She was somehow super friendly. I would love to have a friend like her.
"Bye and thanks, Helena." I put the phone back and got the laptop.
I started scrolling back and forth through the emails, and my eyes went right on the business with "Kaji," and the files were all good. However, the files I worked on stood out more, which did not make me happy but made me feel unusual.
I stood up and went toward Kilee's bedroom. I knocked on her door, "Director." Hearing me out, she opened the door and looked at me.
"Kilee, I told you to call me by my name when we are alone." She was correct; we had agreed on that precedent.
"Sorry, I mean Kilee," she was satisfied.
"Then what is it?" asked her.
"Kaji, have approved the documents; it's all ready." She was speechless. "Already? " Then we both returned to the laptop I left on the kitchen island.
She sat down, and I stood beside her, looking at the files.
"You're right, he signed everything. Good!" she let out a massive sigh, knowing everything would go well from then on.
Maria stood right next to her, pleased to see Kylee relaxing a bit. That was a huge contract, and she had finalized it.
"Then, " I said with a big smile, "what would you like for dinner?" waiting for her to think of something.
She looked at me with a grin on her face. "Chicken and beer?" she said, waiting for my answer.
"With fries?" I said with a big smile, and she fell laughing. "DEAL!" She took her phone and ordered our dinner.
I stood there looking at her, talking at her phone, walking back and forth, and making some grins in my direction before returning to help with the call.
Some time passed, and before dinner, I took a quick shower. The water was sliding all over me, softening the skin with bubbles. The thought alone of having Kilee next to me and her smelling the skin around my neck aroused me and turned me back to the present.
"What am I thinking?" I was mad at myself for thinking about Kilee like that: "We are both women. " Even if I am attracted to her, this is absurd.
When I went back to the living room, the table was ready. Kilee was standing on the carpet, looking at the TV, but she was waiting for me to start to eat.
"You must be hungry," she said. I put on my pajamas without knowing where my confidence came from.
She looked at me briefly, then said, "Here, take a seat." I sat near her and took fries from the table.
"Yummy," I said intrinsically, making Kilee giggle.
"Do you wanna see a movie?" asked her, switching through the internet.
"Sure." Then I took another frie, making Kilee giggle more and more.
From the outside, they would look like a couple of teenagers on a first date, but they were nothing like that.
After discovering that her boyfriend was cheating, Maria was offered a job at B-Corp, the company of her dreams. However, she was surprised to be hired as the secretary for the workaholic director, Kyle. The only hope remains that they will understand each other over time and eventually learn to communicate. Or will there be more?
