Whilst Sera was taking her seat, Ada and Rubim arrived at their school and alighted from their hoverboards. Approaching the gate, there were four people waving in their direction. The Twins’ eyes lit up as they waved back.
“Good morning, guys!” They spoke loudly in unison.
“Good morning!” The other four smiled in reply.
These four were Ada and Rubim's closest friends.
Ailil Nix was a girl who’d be roughly Ada's height when she's not a Centaur, her parents were an unusual combination of a Dark Elf and a Wood Elf. She inherited the Dark Elf's skin tone with silky long platinum blonde hair that's half up, pointed ears poking out from beneath. Her eyes were a pale blue.
Her Brother, Secilas Nix; was a bit taller. He has pale skin with silky long silver hair that'd been plaited on either side and tucked behind his long pointy ears. His eyes were a luscious amethyst.
The other two are also a pair of Twins. They are the children of a lioness and rabbit Beastmen.
Suvic Ammeg was a head taller than the Nix siblings. He had sandy blonde hair that appeared spiky but was fluffy upon touch; popping out from his hair on the top of his head were a pair of long furry ears. His eyes were a pinky red that, depending on the lighting, can shine like a beautiful ruby. He also had a big fluffy round tail.
His Sister, Erama Ammeg; was a little bit shorter than Suvic. Her bright white hair was in a short bob with two round ears poking out on the top of her head. Her eyes were a fiery amber that blazed in the sunlight. Her long furry tail had a tuft of hair at the tip.
The three pairs of Twins happily greeted and hugged each other then proceeded to enter the building and head to class.
They naturally walked in two groups: the Brothers and the Sisters.
“Hey, what was it we're learning today?” Suvic asked cheerfully.
“We're learning about the Adventurer’s Guild, how it came to be and the significance it holds.” Secilas answered as he glanced at Rubim, who, as expected, had a smug grin on his face. Selicas just rolled his eyes.
On the Sisters' side, they were having a similar conversation.
“Wait, that’s what we’re learning today?” Erama pouted. “Couldn’t we just directly ask Ada’s Dad and save ourselves several hours of school?”
“No way.” Ada admonished. “Ask Daddy, and we’ll definitely hear a biased or overexaggerated version of how it came to be.”
“Indeed.” Ailil nodded her head. “It’s sometimes best not to listen from the source, lest we become disillusioned.”
“Couldn’t we just ask her Mum?” Erama complained. “He’ll definitely say it without a biased filter!”
Ailil and Ada looked at each other, then at Erama.
“Oh please.” Ailil rolled her eyes. “You just don’t want to go to class.”
“…I don’t particularly want to either.” Ada said as she turned her eyes as though the brick walls surrounding their school looked interesting.
“Actually… me too.” Ailil admitted.
The three girls looked at each other and just giggled as they entered the corridor where their class was located.
“What are they so happy about?” Suvic pondered.
“Who knows.” Secilas shrugged.
“Girls really are so weird.” Rubim tilted his head and raised his brow as he scratched his head.
The three pairs of Twins took their seats in class and prepared what they needed for the lesson as they waited for the tutor. They talked amongst themselves or with the surrounding classmates in the meantime.
After a while, from the corridor, came the click-clack of high heels. Every student quietened down and faced the front from their seats. The door was opened by a slender hand followed by a petite woman with short red hair, cat ears sprouted atop her head. A long silky tail swayed behind her as she walked to the tutor’s podium at the front of the class.
“Good morning, class.” She smiled gently as she gazed at her students.
“Good morning Mrs. Atei!” The class stood as they replied.
“Now then, sit down as I call your names for attendance.” Mrs. Atei stated as she picked up the computer tablet that contained the student register that's connected to the school's intranet. “Going by the order of your surnames.”
“Erama Ammeg."
“Yes!”
“Suvic Ammeg.”
“Here.”
“Ada Atas.”
“Here.”
“Rubim Atas.”
“Yes Missus.”
...
After she finished calling out the names on the register and the students were all sitting down, she began her lesson.
“To start with, let’s review some basic of basic knowledge.” Mrs. Atei’s voice was pleasant to listen to. “What’s the current average life expectancy of most races?”
The students raised their hands. Mrs. Atei picked out a young boy in the middle row of seats.
“Yail, go on.” She smiled.
The boy stood up and answered her question.
“The average life expectancy for the majority of the races is 500 – 700 years.”
“Very good, please sit.” Mrs. Atei nodded with a gentle smile as she asked her next question. “Who can tell me which of the races with the longest life expectancies?”
Once again, the students raised their hands. This time she picked Rubim.
“Rubim.” She gestured with her hand for him to speak.
“The races with the longest life expectancies are The Dragon Clans, Demons, Faeries, Titans and Elves.” Rubim stood as he answered, and special Demons like Mum. He added in his heart.
“Yes, those are the races that can live for a millennia or more. Good answer, please sit.” She smiled gently. “And who can tell me of the races with the shortest life expectancy?”
The students raised their hands once more. Mrs. Atei picked Ailil.
“Ailil.” She nodded towards her.
“Humans and Beastmen.” Ailil stood and answered like the others previously.
“Correct, those races' life expectancy range from 500 to 700 years depending on health, and they set the average as they have a much denser population. Good, please sit.” Mrs. Atei looked happily at her students. “Now let's begin the main subject for today. How the Adventurer’s Guild came to be.”
The students sat up straight in their seats looking eager to know. The majority look up to adventurers and wish to be one themselves when they come of age. So, they were yearning to know more about it.
