Chapter 5.
Free me.
Thais' chest rose and fell because that had been nothing more than a dream, she couldn't even call it her dream because she was awake and the bathtub was filling up, she had hallucinated about that woman called Cora,
And even though it felt completely real, she had to wake up, because that hadn't happened, however, the girl was a little scared, because from fiction to reality there is only one simple step to become completely true.
That could become a much bigger hell; the bathtub was overflowing and the girl was immersed in her thoughts when one of her hairbrushes fell as if it were a warning to turn off the water, she immediately did so, turned off the water and sat in the bathtub, the water overflowed and evidently wet the bathroom floor, but hugging her knees she looked at a fixed point on the wall and tried to find a way out.
Mom had done everything wrong and left her alone to take care of a debt that was not hers, now she had a woman with a scar under one eye watching her like a prisoner and practically counting her every breath and heartbeat to know how much to collect and how to do it.
The situation was mentally exhausting, but if you look a little closer, it's not that there was no escape, but that Thais was only seeing it from one point of view and completely ignoring the other options.
In her hallucination, Cora had told her that she belonged to her and even affirmed that her place was in the world of the living, so it was as if her inner self was screaming at her not to see death as an easy way out because it intrigues her; What lies beyond could be more painful than the very short step one takes in life…
The girl submerged herself in the water and then took her head out, she repeated it several times, but she could not get rid of the terrifying image of Cora Park's gaze, who seemed to unconsciously tell her that she was everywhere and nowhere at the same time, that she had eyes even in silence and ears in solitude, so everything she did would always be watched by her; that included everything she searched on the Internet
. Well, she had already made it clear before: even if it was a dream it wasn't completely a dream, because when she was getting dressed she checked her laptop and there were the airline's responses stating that she was prohibited from leaving the country, unless she was with a companion, which suggested that it wasn't difficult to get from that illusion to reality because even if they didn't say Cora's name directly, it was obvious that the companion would have to be her, if it wasn't with her, she wouldn't be able to leave the country, so she thought about it several times... and even fleeing by boat occurred to her as well as doing it by train, but then she remembered that if the airline had answered her in that way, it was more than certain that that woman would have already alerted them to refuse to take me out by train or by water, but if it wasn't her directly who asked for the ticket they would surely not deny it, so the name of Henry flashed in her mind, one of her lifelong friends who lived no more than two blocks from where she was, so putting on her shoes, the girl went out with hope in one person.
Could Henry free her from this prison with different courtyards, but the same silent jailer? She was about to find out and that only showed the fear and anxiety that the girl felt.
