Josh, the leader of the army, has improved the army's food by cooking pork because of Chance, and this event has changed his opinion of Chance, so he intends to follow Chance loyally, and he reports on the problems that the army is currently facing,
"Fourth Highness, the army has now mastered many skills under your leadership, but our weapons are too few, I'm afraid it's hard to win when we actually enter the battlefield. "
Chance thought deeply of what josh said, and he decided to solve the problem of weapons himself. Back at the mansion, chance thought for a long time, and thought of the possibility of building guns, so he drew the design drawings of the guns overnight.
The next day, Chance went to the General Ordnance Directorate with his gun designs. However, the Director General of Ordnance was loyal to Crown Prince Simon and only focused on designing weapons for Semon. They were not interested in helping Chance.
The director had a serious face, always frowning, and barely looked at Chance's design drawings.
"We do not have the extra resources to fulfill your request," he said dismissively.
Josh, the soldier beside Chance, said angrily, "You old man, you just don't want to serve the Fourth Prince!"
Chance's voice was smooth and firm, "If you don't want to help me make weapons, then at least find someone who can."
The Director said helplessly, "I know a man, his name is Lubin, you show him your drawings." The director thought to himself, "Lubin is a notoriously difficult person to work with, if the design is not attractive enough, he won't help, and Chance will most likely be turned away.
Lubin was a singular weapons genius, known for his excellent craftsmanship. Legend has it that he designed a dart capable of flying two kilometers and so powerful that it rivaled the strength of a giant. After creating this masterpiece, he played a key role in helping the royal family defeat the rebels. The emperor was so impressed with his talents and contributions that he wished to reward him handsomely.
Lubin, however, refused any reward. Instead, he asked for a modest hut and a steady supply of materials. He did so in order to focus more on weapon crafting. Without his highly respected blueprints, it would be difficult to convince him to design any new weapons.
The next day, Chance arrived at Lubin's workplace. Lubin had a personality and its eccentricities, but was reputed to be a genius in weapons manufacturing. The studio was filled with half-finished products and complex designs.
Chance was walking around and saw Lubin buried in his weapons, Chance tried to greet him but he paid no attention until Chance put the designs directly under his eyes.
Lubin was a man with a sharp eye and a bright head, and he looked at the drawings with interest.
"These designs are amazing," Loubian marveled, his eyes sparkling with excitement. "I've never seen anything so ingenious!"
That's when he looked up at Chance, for whom he'd agreed to build the weapon.
"Give me seven days. It's an extraordinary design, and I need time to gather the necessary materials."
Chance left Loubian's workshop hopeful, his mind flashing back to the finished gun being made.
Seven days later, the Emperor summoned the princes to present their weapon designs and assess who had the potential to become Crown Prince.
The large training ground was filled with imperial sons and officials who had come to take part in this grand competition.
The second prince, Simon, was the first to speak.
"This is my design - an iron-armored chariot. The front of the chariot has a shield that will protect our soldiers from arrows as they advance towards the enemy." He explained, his tone filled with pride.
Then there was the Fifth Prince displaying a sword...
"Everyone, please see, this is my weapon design, the Five-Edged Knife, this knife can unfold 5 edges, just like a bushel, and can defeat multiple enemies."
Numerous imperial princes showed off their achievements
Just then, Lubin appeared, holding Chance's finished gun. He confidently aimed the gun at the dummy and fired the first shot. The martial arts arena erupted in cheers. The humble gun, powered by gunpowder, shocked everyone.
"If our kingdom possesses such a weapon, we can defeat the neighboring countries and unify the world!" A courtier exclaimed, his eyes wide open.
Crown Prince Simon hurriedly said, "Father, this is also my design, this gun can shoot from a long distance, with my armored chariot, we will be invincible."
The soldiers walk up to Lubin and try to coerce him into saying that this is the Grand Prince and Semon's design. The soldiers whisper threats, but Lubin is a decent man and stands his ground.
Chance stands silently, watching the scene. He wasn't sure if Lubin would be bribed by those at Semon, and just as he was getting worried
Lubin spoke up, his voice clear and unwavering, "This gun is powerful, but it has a fatal flaw, whoever can identify this flaw and come up with a solution is the one who actually designed this firearm."
The martial arts arena fell into silence, waiting for an answer.
Lubin continued to explain the flaw trying to give the royal sons some ideas, "The spring in the gun is made of wire and it's not flexible enough, so it often jams."
Chance immediately replied, "Tying the oxbows with iceworm silk can improve the lack of elasticity."
Lubin nodded, a satisfied smile on his face, "Without a doubt, this is Chance's design."
Lubin nodded, a satisfied smile on his face, "Without a doubt, this is Chance's design."
Semon and the others who wanted to grab more of chance's achievements felt embarrassed and jealous as they watched Lubin not being bribed by them.
The Emperor was unhappy with the lies of Semon and the others, and he favored chance when it came to the succession of kingship.
This well-designed gun soon came in handy on the day the palace hosted a banquet ...
