After looking through his stats, Freyr checked the other tabs on the game-like system and was relieved to know he could go to the dimensional farm whenever he wanted.
Now that he was awake, if he went to the dimensional farm, his body would not stay in the real world and would go into the dimensional farm. This was particularly useful if he couldn’t find a place to live after getting discharged from the hospital.
When breakfast came, Lucian Park also came along. It was 7 in the morning, so Freyr didn’t expect to see him so soon.
After he awakened at the start of the dungeon breaks, Lucian’s black hair turned navy blue, and his eyes became crystal blue. He specialized in ice and water-based attacks. There were countless videos of him walking on water or creating ice bridges to traverse through dungeons.
Overall, he was a handsome, tall, and strong man.
“Good morning, Mr. Tran.” Lucian sat down next to the bed while Freyr’s breakfast was put on the bedside table. “Dr. Hernandez spoke to you about my visit, correct?”
“Yes, sir…” Freyr felt a bit shy because this was his first time meeting his idol! “You can just call me Freyr.”
Lucian nodded. “Then Freyr it is. You can call me whatever you like.” Meaning, he was okay with Freyr calling him by his first name.
“I understand, Mr. Park! Thank you for saving my life. Dr. Hernandez told me that you were the one who took me to the hospital. To be honest, I thought I was going to die there…”
“No need for thanks. There were more than a hundred of those giant worms… It took some time to get to you, so the one who saved you was yourself.”
Freyr shivered at the thought of one hundred of those giant worms. One already gave him trouble, so any more than that and he would have died.
“I understand… Then thank you for taking me to the hospital.”
“Okay, your thanks have been accepted. Let’s move on from that topic.”
Freyr nodded, trying to eat as quickly as possible so Lucian could comfortably talk with him. He didn’t want to annoy his idol any longer!
“You have become a S-ranked Hunter and I am here to ask you what your plans are. Would you like to join the Liberation Guild?”
“Yes, I was planning to sign up and get training through the Liberation Guild.”
That made it a lot easier for Lucian.
Freyr wasn’t a combat-based Hunter even with his stats. He had no idea how to use a sword even though he was given one, he had magic but right now, it was used to water his plants, and his occupation was that of a dimensional farmer. He may not get combat-related skills like the other occupations.
He expressed his worries though. “I am a bit worried because I am not a combat-related occupation but… Actually, let me just show you. Please, think of this as a gift for taking me to the hospital.”
Freyr took out one of each crop that he had and handed them to Lucian. “When you consume my vegetables for the first time, you will get a permanent stat increase. After that, there are temporary bonus stat increases. The type of bonuses and how long they last depend on the quality of the vegetables I can produce. Right now, it is regular quality, so the temporary stat increase lasts one hour.”
He didn’t tell Lucian that eating one of each quality is the same as eating it for the first time. The higher the quality, the higher the permanent stat increase.
“I am still pretty useful even if I don’t have a combat-related occupation… Right?” Even though he knew he could definitely sell these, he wasn’t 100% sure that guilds would want them. Maybe there was someone else they were hiding that could do the same thing he did.
Lucian held the carrot, turnip, and potato in his hands and almost wanted to eat them raw. The carrot was fine to eat raw, but the other two, especially the potato, could not be eaten raw. Turnips can be eaten raw but the taste was intense on their own. Potatoes on the other hand could cause digestion issues if he eats too much of it raw.
Wait, that’s not the point! The point was, he couldn’t believe that there was another way to increase stats permanently. The only known way was through leveling up. You could increase your stats through weapons, armor, and accessories, but once they were damaged beyond repair or taken off, your stats would go back to normal.
The carrot increased speed and accuracy by two points each; the turnip increased defense and intelligence by two; while the potato increased the defense and strength by two.
He could see that there was a level on the vegetables, which was in line with what Freyr said about the quality going up. Even if he didn’t mention it, he imagined that you could get a permanent stat increase by eating the higher quality vegetables once. That would make sense since the temporary stat bonus would increase as well.
That’s why, being able to create items that permanently increase stats and temporarily do so was amazing! Many countries would fight to have Freyr in their country. If not, his vegetables could be sold at exaggerated prices.
“More than just useful. Worth fighting countries for…” Lucian mumbled the last part to himself. “You should keep your occupation hidden until we can have you as a member of the Liberation Guild. Then, if you want, you can slowly sell the produce you have. We may have to keep it regulated because it can get out of control with scalpers.”
Scalpers were people who bought a product and then sold it at ridiculous prices. There were always people who would pay large amounts of money to get what they wanted when the supply was low, so they always had customers.
Freyr thought what Lucian said was right so he nodded his head. He also worried that people would resell his vegetables and wondered if there was a way to combat that.
“Well, we can talk about selling your vegetables at a later date. What you should do is rest up so you can be discharged sooner. Then, you should go to the Hunter’s Association to get your Hunter’s ID created. Once you do so, you can apply to join the Liberation Guild. I will make sure everyone knows that you will automatically be accepted into the guild. How does that sound?”
Since Lucian planned everything out for him, Freyr felt he didn’t have much to do.
“Ah, wait, but where should I stay after I leave the hospital? My apartment…”
Most likely, his apartment was destroyed by monsters.
“Do not worry about that. You can talk with the Hunter’s Association and they can give you temporary housing until you can join a guild. You won’t have to pay them back until you get into a guild, but you can set up a payment plan with them if you find that the price is too high. Larger guilds will usually pay it if you get accepted though.”
That meant, once he joined the Liberation Guild, they would pay off his debt free of charge.
“That’s a relief. Thank you, Mr. Park, for explaining everything to me.”
He knew that Lucian didn’t talk much for interviews, so he was shocked that he would take the time to explain everything he didn’t know about being a Hunter. He really was the amazing Asian-American representative for the Liberation Group! He finally understood why he was elected for the position.
“It is no problem at all.” Lucian took a piece of paper out of his pocket and handed it to Freyr. “Your phone broke, so when you have the time, add my number.”
Freyr gently took the piece of paper and put it in his inventory box. If it was in there, he would never lose it. This was his idol giving him his personal phone number!
“Thank you again, Mr. Park.” The first thing he needed to do was get a new phone so he could have Lucian’s number as his first contact. That was the way of a fan chasing after their idol, right?
Lucian saw the admiration and happiness in Freyr’s eyes and pretended he didn’t see it. There were many people who looked up to him because of his strength and his status. It was nothing new. At least Freyr’s admiration was innocent and didn’t have any ulterior motives. If it did, he wouldn’t have given Freyr his number even if they were in the same guild.
“I still have some work to do, so rest up. Do not worry about the hospital bill as the Liberation Guild will pay for it.”
After that, he didn’t give Freyr the chance to thank him and walked out of the room as quickly as he came. Still, Freyr didn’t feel offended at all. His idol had things to do, so why would he stop Lucian from leaving?
Plus, he could finally finish his food. It was cold, but he felt it was worth it.
