Quentin had never felt so concerned and confused, perhaps it was the corpse below him, but it also might have been the blood-soaked girl giggling as she caressed his ears.
“Can you stop that?! They’re sensitive!” He squealed as that only made her eyes sparkle.
“Then can I feel your legs?!” She chimed.
“No! That’s even weirder!” Quentin said, all while she rigorously fluffed the top of his head.
What’s wrong with this girl?! She’s bonkers!
His face tinted pink the more she petted him as he squirmed around, flustered until he huffed and grabbed both of her hands, holding her wrists.
“No! And, we really need to get out of here! The howling will attract others and-“ He began to say when promptly interrupted by a yell.
“Hey Hopper?! Down here!” With a gunshot, the wolf's brains were blown clean through as it fell with a giant thump.
From the forest, red-cloaked people waved, they seemed to know Mister Ram quite well.
“Alright! Let’s go uh- miss….” Mister Ram said, looking to her while tilting his head.
He wants my name…I don’t have one…I’m just a color….the color of blood….
She thought, closing her eyes as he took her in his arms and hopped down, and when opening them, the green grassy fields glowed with dew light, and in the grass she saw them…
“Clover….” She mumbled.
“Clover? Is that your name?!” Mister Ram asked, and she smiled, her feet touching the ground as he put her down.
“Yes! It is Mister Ram!” Covered with blood, she brimmed.
“Hey Hopper, who's that?” One of the three cloaks asked.
Red cloaks, she adored them, they were perfect in every way.
The first one was a cat, the second a human with strange horns, and the third, very small, was a mouse.
“This is Clover! She was inside the stomach of one of the bigger Moon Fiends!” They all turned to look at her, surprised.
“How?! Did you get eaten?!” Mister Kitty asked.
“Goodness gracious, you poor thing, it’s a good thing you were found!” Miss Horn says, looking at her with a sorry face.
“No wonder you’re both covered in blood!” Mister Mouse says, he seemed rather rude.
What a strange group of people…..it didn’t matter though be-
Torn from her thoughts, she looked over to see Mister Ram's ears twitching as he thought, and a squeal left her lips as she grabbed his ear again.
“H-hey! W-what did I just say?!” He muttered out as she began scratching his chin, grabbing her hands over and over again, they fought over his ears.
“She’s quite lively.” Mister Cat chuckled as he looked to the forest and nodded.
They needed to leave, and now, clapping his hands, everyone looked his way and he took out another carving, this one in the form of a wolf.
Bringing it to his lips, it was a whistle and mist began to surround them, and before she could even process what was happening she was in a town!
Falling from the air, Mister Ram caught her and the townsfolk looked their way, covering their noses from the blood.
“Haha…let’s go wash up, our clothes are pretty bad, and it’s late.” Mister Ram said, and looking up at the moon peeking through, Clover couldn’t agree more.
Would he get fluffier after he was cleaned?! So soft and wonderful! Giggling, the group walked to this large building with three floors and many windows.
There was a large door, it wasn’t the usual door she would see every day…
Wait…..what door….? It's best to just forget….
“Wait, so you don’t know why you were there?” Mister Ram said, now freshly washed as Clover sat across from him.
“No, it was just dark, and then I saw you.” Clover said, wearing a cozy nightgown while she picked at the bread in front of her.
Watching Mister Cat dip his bread into the soup from the other side of the room, she did the same, the bread getting soggy but good.
“What do you remember?” Mister Ram said, tapping his hoof beneath the table.
Ram’s are so cute when they’re thinking!
Clover squealed as she picked at her soup, it was salty and filled with strange chunks.
“A big red door covered in wolves!” She said, enjoying how happy he looked every time he got more information to chew on.
“A red door hmmmh?” His hoof tapped faster as Clover began to slowly creep up on him to grab his ears.
“Well, whatever happened, you’re welcome to stay here, Hopper told us it was you who took the eyes of the Moon Fiend.” Mister cat said, he had this warm face, his fur white and black.
“Hopper? Do you mean Mister Ram? And what’s a Moon Fiend.” Clover asked, and everyone looked her way, confused.
“Poor thing truly doesn’t remember a thing.” Miss Horn said, pity in her eyes as Mister Ram clapped his hands.
“Here, let me explain!” His ears twitched as he spoke.
The fire crackled as Mister Ram began to speak.
“Many years ago, the red moon rose, and with it came these large, man-eating wolves known as the Moon Fiends, every moon they creep from the shadows and attack villages, gorging on people, of course, there’s more to the story but that’s the basic one.” He said with a smile.
“You’re cute even when explaining death.” Clover said with a happy sigh as Mister Ram simply took a deep breath.
There’s definitely something wrong with her. He thought, as she suddenly started creeping closer, stopping herself from petting him, for now.
“Either way, would you like to join the huntsman?” Mister Cat said, as Clover looked him in the eye, clearly uninterested.
“You’ll get to stay with Mister Ram.” He said again, and quickly Clover shook his hand.
“You have a deal!!” And thus, the strange girl with no memories was recruited into the hunters of the valley.
