CHAPTER 17.
“No time to judge, Olive, just for her own life, with her arrogance, power and the money to do it.”
By now, Olive was upset with herself, upset with life, upset with Patrick and worried about her missing sister, Ami July. ¿Why the hell out of so many people, her sister had to notice a man as mysterious as Patrick? The man basically had the power, the money and everything he wanted, and yet, he was like a wild animal that couldn’t seem to get enough of anything or anyone, maybe her sister was silenced and sent far away from Whistler so she wouldn’t meddle in Patrick’s life, he could do it, he was God and he was the Devil at the same time.
There were no impossibles for him and now she had nowhere or nothing to hold on to…
Ami was no longer there, she knew nothing about her, ¿where to start?, Patrick Tempus was a box of surprises that she was discovering little by little, but ¿what did he feel about all this? ¿Did he have no opinion about these cases? Or was he just a good liar who turned a blind eye…
The case she began to review was that of some babies that were found in a convent, probably a nun had given birth to them in secret and wanted to keep them hidden and this time the name of Patrick Tempus could be seen, it could be felt.
Olive was excited with emotion, she could finally link it to other cases; but the reality was that Patrick was the one who assisted the nun in giving birth, who had secretly given birth to triplets and Patrick's mother was the one who took care of the nun in secret, it was a scandal when this came to light, because of the mystery of who the father of the children was; and why had she gone to a recent graduate to assist in her birth, there were many gaps in this case, ¿could it be that Patrick's father had had an affair with the nun and his wife had found out and this was the only chance they had to hide their fragmented relationship...?
In the meantime, the nun was dismissed and sent to Zaxonia to live alone with her three children, while the Tempus family clarified the rumors involving Patrick's father as the possible father of the children, but they denied all this by stating that the only relationship they had with the former nun was purely religious; and that they found out about her pregnancy two months before she gave birth, because she had been the one who came to them with the intention of them helping her keep the secret, and so it was until the day of delivery, where she could not bear to scream because of the strong contractions... people seemed to believe what the Tempus family claimed, but some peasants claimed to have seen Mr. Tempus in Zaxonia without his wife, this could be a clandestine relationship that his wife accepted, but ¿why was there a scandal then?, It turns out that when the triplets turned one year old and began to walk, someone had invaded the property and had implanted some chips in the left hemisphere of the infants' brains, which allowed them to be handled over long distances; And so it was that on a Tuesday, April 22, the house where the former nun lived caught fire in the early hours of the morning….no one could help them, they did not survive and the chip was found in the remains, but it was a device that no longer had a function and they could only conclude that after having died where the body had fallen, the chip had been placed in that part of the brain.
The authorities wanted to blame the Tempus family for this crime, but some people who lived in Zaxonia came out in their defense, stating that one day before the fire, the priest had been seen leaving the former nun's house, and therefore, when they began to look for fingerprints, the only ones they found were those of that priest, who was sentenced to a maximum security prison despite claiming that he was innocent….
Olive wondered if the priest was really innocent. It wasn't that she didn't want to side with the priest, but it was clear that if he hadn't been present the day before, another story would have been told, since the Tempus family always claimed that they were all innocent and that they were only helping the former nun in good faith, which was somewhat credible, since many townspeople claimed that the Tempus family sent the woman food and money to support her children, it was like an allowance they left and nothing that could compromise them in anything else; ¿were the members of the Tempus family really such good people?, She didn't know, she wanted to believe that there were still good people, but with so many things going around in her mind, that seemed impossible.
Therefore, when she posted the article, people rejected it saying that she was staining the honor of the family of the beloved Dr. Patrick Tempus, and that she should respect the memory of his parents, who had supported multiple social works.
and not only that, but they had donated a lot of money to people who had been affected and had lost their home.
Olive understood that the Tempus family would always maintain its honor and that even if her son was the author of multiple murders, no one would believe it, because all the people were in favor of Patrick and not her, but even so she gathered her courage, she left the letters that correspond to the article (N.A.S.), she would only have to wait to see if Patrick made any statement about it, and if he did, it was because he was guilty, but if he didn't it was because he was trying to keep the peace of his parents' memory…
