Chapter 15.
A monster with an angel's face.
After several hours of interrogation under the polygraph to Chester Valt, it was proven that everything that Glades had said had been pure lies, situations created by his imagination, because Chester provided the necessary evidence to prove that they had had a relationship in the past, also managing to prove with a medical report, that she was diagnosed with double personality with early schizophrenia, so the officers simply left the man alone and free after making him pay a fine for psychological violence against his ex-partner... Chester, without refusing, kindly paid that fine and left the premises...
Once Chester left, the officer went to look for Glades where he had left her previously; and as soon as he entered, he confirmed the features that were described in the medical report about her condition, since she was asleep, but she did not stop shouting incoherent things, she even stood on top of the table while asleep and jumped on it laughing as if she was crazy, so the officer carefully approached her and began to try to wake her up and bring her back to reality, but although it was a little difficult to get her out of the world of dreams and nightmares where she seemed to be submerged, as soon as she managed it, the officer told her that she could go, that the man had already made his statement, also asking her why she had omitted that she had psychological problems of bipolarity and schizophrenia, to which she flatly denied it... and the officer then, in order not to beat around the bush, told her: just go home with your children and live your quiet life...
She left there, but as soon as she was outside, she realized that all this was part of a game of Chester... he had made her look like the bad guy knowing that the he was the bad one… now they looked at her as if she was crazy when she knew that she was telling the truth; she also knew that the only way that everything could be proven was by finding Emily and that she would also testify, but there was a problem, perhaps he would have done the same with Emily, so she began to walk towards her house and almost instantly it began to rain, then she began to take out everything she had inside and cried her sorrows under the rain with her heart torn from pain and tragedy; she could not believe that in the end he was the winner and she had to resign herself to being a loser… it was then that she fell to her knees on that sidewalk, bringing her hands to her face and wiping away her tears, letting the rainwater take away all her burdens, perhaps the best thing was to forget that those months she spent in Chester's hands had really happened.
Emily, on the other hand, had gone through a great depression that prevented her from leaving her house, being afraid of seeing Chester again, such was the panic, that at night after she closed all the doors and windows, she used to leave a light on in the corner of her daughter's room, so she could visualize her night terrors, which seemed to want her to lose consciousness in order to manipulate her; and in this way be able to affect her daughter; but she would never forgive herself if something happened to the owner of her heart... she would not allow it, she would always find a way to make her daughter see that her mother was fine and happy even if everything was a lie.
Maybe they had condemned her life by crossing it unconsciously with his in the past, and that was currently a high price they seemed to have to pay, especially for Emily, who told herself day and night that he was not human, that he was a demon escaped from the depths of Hell, that he tormented her thoughts, her life and what surrounded her, and that because of that, even though he was far away, she could not live normally because of the fear caused by the mere possibility of seeing him again.
She herself would not know how she would react if she had to see him again: if she would run away; she would remain static, scream, cry, or faint, she always thought that one of those would be her reaction, but she was also aware that she could not think exactly how she would react in reality; maybe she should have listened to the words he himself had told her: leave it to fate, but then fate was cruel because it had led her to meet him and that was something she herself regretted, besides, she couldn't live in the past, she knew she had to live in the present and think about the future, she could continue looking at the past thinking that she could have changed something, but she was aware that if she had to live through some misfortune in that past, it was because it had to be that way in order to learn something from it; then she understood that a monster with an angel's face can also be a cold and ruthless demon.
