CHAPTER 14.
“Friends are pagans, you will probably never meet the psychopath sitting next to you…”
Humans can be cruel, stupid and ignorant, many times they do not respect the nature that surrounds them and end up innocent creatures paying for the demons that a person carries inside, is it “hate”?, maybe, we do not know… “anxiety”? It is unlikely that she felt it… “suffering”?, probably she had the suffering internally, but nothing compared to what Olive was investigating of the strangest cases of the last fifteen years, how can all the felines disappear from a zoo along with the reptiles was something strange, very strange to tell the truth, because clearly a zoo is a very protected place to prevent animals from escaping without making noise, but somehow these animals disappeared: three lions; two pumas; six tigers; twenty of the most lethal vipers; two foxes; a brown bear and two wild boars… …
But nobody saw how these animals got out of their cages and even less did they manage to find out how the cameras failed that day of stormy rains with lightning. Absolutely nobody suspected that while the security guards were in their control cabin sheltering from the rain, the animals were being kidnapped, and when dawn came and they began their normal work day and were relieved, they found that the animals were missing, and obviously, the authorities were notified of the disappearance and the community of East Whistler was alerted to be very careful when leaving home, because animals had disappeared from the zoo that could be lurking for anyone at this time…
Panic spread among the inhabitants, and although they were already afraid to leave their children at school because of an alleged kidnapper, the fact that exotic and wild animals were everywhere at this time did not help, many families had weapons to defend themselves from these animals in case of a possible encounter, but unfortunately that never happened because two weeks after the disappearance of the two wild boars… animals in the wee hours of the morning, three lions were left silently on the doorstep of three congresswomen much loved by all of Whistler and Inkitt; the lions were missing part of their fur and some organs…
Then, two cougars were found crucified in front of the Whistler Mint… the cougars were missing part of their fur and their teeth…
The six tigers were found in different parts of Whistler, such as in front of the congress and the courthouse; the tigers were missing part of their fur and all 4 legs…
A brown bear and two wild boars were found without vital organs in the main squares; the vipers were never found and the two foxes were left in front of a religious convent without any fur and with their throats torn out; This was clearly something that shocked all citizens when they woke up and found these animals that were supposed to be missing, covered in flies in front of specific houses and key places, as if the kidnapper wanted to send a clear message that he was still among them and his target was not only women and children, but that no one could be incriminated due to lack of fingerprints and evidence, or traces of any kind, just like in the case of the children: nothing to hold on to incriminate anyone…
Olive felt like vomiting and she really did vomit after writing this article, but she knew that if the kidnapper was the same as the one of the infants, children and adolescents, he was not afraid of death, because holding on to keeping the vipers, announced that he was probably looking for a serum for immunity to the venom of all of them, but regarding the fur of the animals: or he was creating his own type of animal; Or he was just a hunter who had fun creating terror in a nation…
But either way, Olive couldn’t prove who this mysterious man or woman was, however, she followed her heart, which told her that Patrick Tempus was the key to everything, and for that, she would try to prove that even if he was evading the law for years, in the long run, justice could prevail over everything, but would he live to tell the tale? She didn’t know for sure, but she hoped so.
After uploading it to the forum, comments immediately filled her inbox, leaving key questions about how this crime was related to the one of the minors, clearly Olive couldn’t declare to the world that it was a hunch, but she just uploaded the letters (D.O.R.) in the hope that people would calm down a bit and be attentive to her next review…
