Chapter 14.
Time, faithful companion.
About six months had passed, the relationship of both women with their respective families and children had strengthened even more, neither had seen each other again since then... From time to time they asked each other from a distance ¿what would become of each of them?, and unconsciously they also asked for the other's family...
Meanwhile, Chester monitored them from afar, laughing at what they were thinking of doing, because Glades had decided to report him to the authorities, since he had his body as testimony and in this way he would convince Emily and other possible victims to help her with the case to put him in jail for the rest of his life.
Gathering her courage, Glades walked from her house to the nearest police station, where she filed a complaint against Chéster Valt for torture, kidnapping and psychological harassment… immediately, the officer on duty took her statement and fingerprints… he also asked her to describe what her attacker looked like and bravely she did so, so, once she left the police station, she could feel that she could breathe a little freely again, she was not doing much, but she felt that the little she had done was enough.
The next day they call her from the police station where they tell her that there are eighty-seven people registered with the name Chéster Valt, so she must find out if any of them have any previously opened file; she agreed and asks the officer if everything surrounding her statement can remain as an anonymous complaint, since she fears for her life and that of her children. The officer assured her that it would be so, so she calmly left… Once she got home, she was greeted by her three children, who admired their mother’s bravery and never tired of telling her that she was the most important thing in their lives.
Two hours later, the same police officer was knocking on the door of Glades’ house to tell her that they had located three possible criminals with the same name and that she had to go and identify them… she agreed, leaving her children with her mother and leaving with the officer…
Upon arriving, they took her to the interrogation room with tempered and smoked glass… And upon looking at each of the three men, she immediately recognized that the first one was the one she was looking for… her nerves were on edge upon seeing him again, so the officer had to ask her to calm down, that he couldn’t see her, so she told him: he is a monster; I am not the only one, there are many other girls, men and women and who knows if even children who have passed through his hands, because he claims that my children are his, but I never remember having met him… The officer takes note of what she was telling him and that she herself had omitted in her initial statement, taking her to another room, where they let her stabilize emotionally, since the officers thought that she would repeat that reaction when she saw her aggressor again.
Without realizing it, she fainted, losing consciousness in that room and reliving in her mind each of the rooms through which she and Emily had passed, where anxious to free herself from those tortures, she did not stop screaming in her dreams and asking for help, but no one heard her there because all those around her did not exist and were only a product of her imagination; and the most frustrating thing was, that she knew it herself and no matter how hard she tried to wake herself up convincing herself that it was just a dream, she couldn't get out of that darkness, to which her mind seemed to cling, reminding her of the horror where she had come from and torturing her with every memory, as if she were an extra character and was trying to help herself as a main character... the only thing she could hear was the torment; and even so, she could see again the hunter's eyes of the owner of her nightmares, who seemed to keep her conscious in that place in her mind... It seemed that she would never escape from the strong gaze of Chester Valt.
