Surprisingly enough, Lynx didn’t let Cory work in the Underground after what happened. Cory was a bit confused, remembering how the whole agreement was because Cory would need to work there but Lynx was adamant that Cory would be staying in his house and tending to it instead. He would be able to pay off the debt that way.
Cory was a little hesitant, wondering just what Lynx was thinking but he decided not to worry about it too much. Truthfully, he has a bit more to worry about rather than someone touching him. So long as nothing happened like the night before, he would be okay.
Lynx didn’t seem to care though and basically just gave him a chore list. Cory cleaned everywhere, seeing how Lynx didn’t seem to mind that Cory could be able to find his deepest, darkest secrets. Truthfully, this might just be the right thing for him to do that way he could easily get Judas back and get away for Lynx…
He doesn’t understand it but the thought of losing Lynx makes him a little sick to his stomach. He thought it would be okay with time, but something tells him that it isn’t going to be easy. He knows what kind of person Lynx is but a part of him doesn’t seem to care.
Just as he is finishing up cleaning, he receives a text message. Pulling out his phone, he realizes it is from Lynx.
From Lynx: I’ll be home soon. Get ready.
To Cory, that didn’t make a lot of sense because he wasn’t prepared to be going anywhere. Most of the time when Lynx got back here, they ate the dinner that Cory prepared, watched a movie, and then crawled into bed together. Cory should be embarrassed at how many times he has been caught cuddling with Lynx when he woke up.
To Lynx: See you soon.
Cory wondered if that sounded too clingy, like he is excited at the fact that Lynx is going to be home soon. The Underground is a little ways away from Lynx’s home, so Cory knows that he has a little bit of a time, but he doesn’t know how Lynx wants him to get dressed.
Although it took a while, Cory managed on a simple cardigan since it is a little cool tonight and black slacks with his normal tennis shoes. Messing with his hair a little bit, he wondered if he should style it but the sound of the doors opening tells him that he doesn’t have a lot of time to do so.
Walking around the corner, Cory sees Lynx look like absolutely perfection, like usual. Cory isn’t so sure how he hasn’t tried to jump Lynx’s bones yet, but he has been trying to keep the distance that way he didn’t end up falling for Lynx’s charms. He continuously has to remind himself that Lynx is not a good man.
That Lynx is doing things that Cory should hate and he has to keep the distance between them before he ends up getting swept away. If he lets himself get taken, then it’s just going to get ugly and then Lynx is going to have that control over him.
“Where are we going?” Cory asks curiously, seeing how Lynx looks up.
Lynx smiles slightly, a glimmer in his eyes that does something to Cory’s heart, “you’ll have to see.”
Cory hates when Lynx does that, but he doesn’t get a chance to say anything because he is already being dragged out of there.
The ride is a little long, seeing how they are going away from the city towards the other towns and cities. It is getting dark out, a notion that Cory is very aware of and there’s no way that he is going to be able to think about anything else as he is being swept away.
Until they arrive at a really nice restaurant, Cory’s jaw drops slightly. He has never been to something like this, knowing that he just never saw the point in going to a fancy restaurant and spending that kind of money. He wants to protest but the glimmer in Lynx’s eyes tells him that protesting is just going to break Lynx’s heart and Cory doesn’t want to do that.
“What are we doing here?” Cory asks curiously, seeing how he doesn’t understand why Lynx is being so sweet to him, “do you normally take your workers to fancy restaurants?”
A weird look spreads across Lynx’s face, and he doesn’t look very happy with Cory’s question. Cory doesn’t care, not understanding why Lynx is doing this to him because they are supposed to not be this way together.
Lynx is making Cory feel weirdly, like he is being swept away with everything that is Lynx. He has no control over his body, being completely overtaken by him and he doesn’t want to let go. He wants to be completely one with Lynx and that scares him.
“It’s like you have feelings for me.” Cory whispers, needing answers before it ends up being an even bigger mess, “and I don’t like you playing games with my mind. I don’t want to get that hope that you like me and that our relationship isn’t as fucked up as it’s turning out to be. Please… Just tell me the truth.”
Cory felt like he was going to start crying, the weight of everything crashing down on him and it felt like nothing was going the way that he needed it to. He didn’t want to do this with the one who has been blackmailing him but also hasn’t done anything to hurt him.
Like a real relationship, the odd sensation building within Cory as he is thinking about how far their relationship could end up going. If Cory gives his heart to Lynx, will that mean Judas would be able to come home?
Can Lynx truly be the one for Cory?
Will Cory live to regret it?
As the questions plague Cory’s mind, he didn’t even realize Lynx was moving into action.
Lynx’s big hand cups the side of Cory’s face, making Cory look up at him almost immediately. There is a strange look on Lynx’s face, like he is contemplating on what he is going to say to Cory. He longs for a lot more, knowing that Cory is not going to believe just words.
So, he does the one thing that he knows he can do…
Leaning in, Lynx softly kisses Cory on the lips, a promise of how he feels. A promise that no matter what, Cory will always be Lynx’s top priority.
The beast fell in love with the beauty…
And neither one could have stopped it.
