You exit your chambers the following night to wander around the palace, that is when you are stopped by a grinning priest beckoning you closer to him. "Come here brother" he whispers at you, his hulking cleavage held tight by his revealing priest robes.
You hesitate for a moment, taken aback by the priest's unusual appearance and demeanor. His smile seems to radiate a sense of mischief and secrecy. Despite your initial unease, you approach him, feeling drawn to whatever information he might impart. "What do you want from me, Father?"
The priest chuckles softly, his eyes glinting in the flickering candlelight. "Oh, I've heard of your exploits, young one. You've been delving deeper into the ancient scrolls than anyone in recent memory. I believe you're destined for greatness."
You raise an eyebrow, intrigued by his words. "And what exactly do you mean by that, Father?"
The priest smirks and steps closer to you, his voice dropping to a conspiratorial whisper. "I've heard rumors of a secret society within the palace walls."
You lean in closer, intrigued by the priest's words. "A secret society? What kind of society?" The priest's grin widens. "A group of like-minded individuals, dedicated to uncovering the hidden truths of our world."
"And what about the scrolls?" you ask, feeling a sudden surge of excitement. "Do they hold clues to this secret society's existence?" The priest nods, his eyes gleaming. "Indeed they do, young one."
You feel a rush of excitement and anticipation as the priest reveals more about the secret society. You can't help but wonder what other secrets the scrolls hold and what role you might play in uncovering them.
As you ponder these thoughts, the priest steps closer, lowering his voice even further. "There are those within the palace who would see our efforts thwarted," he whispers. "They fear the power that knowledge holds. It is up to us to ensure that the truth remains hidden no longer."
You nod solemnly, understanding the gravity of the situation. "Then we must continue our work with caution," you reply. "The last thing we want is to attract unwanted attention." The priest nods in agreement. "A wise decision, my young friend. Remember, knowledge is power. And with great power comes great responsibility."
You part ways with the priest, your mind racing with the possibilities that the scrolls hold. As you make your way back to your chambers, you can't help but feel a sense of purpose and determination.
You go back to studying the commandments, reading over them carefully, but, something calls you to the other scroll.
As you sit down to resume your studies, you can't help but feel a sense of anticipation and excitement. The energy from the scroll continues to course through your veins, making you feel more focused and determined than ever before. You unroll the scroll once more, feeling the ancient parchment beneath your fingertips.
As you begin to read, you notice that the text seems to resonate with you on a deeper level. Words and phrases that you had previously struggled with now make perfect sense, as if they were illuminated by a sudden flash of understanding. You feel your mind expanding, your thoughts becoming clearer and more precise.
You continue studying the commandments, the energy from the scroll coursing through your veins. As you delve deeper into the ancient text, you feel a strange sensation in your hands. Looking down, you notice that your skin is glowing faintly, as if infused with an ethereal light.
You gasp, startled by the sudden transformation. The glow intensifies, spreading up your arms and across your chest before fading away as quickly as it had appeared. As you try to make sense of what has just happened, you hear a soft voice whispering in your ear once more.
"What was that?" Fu asks, his eyes wide with surprise. "I don't know," you reply, still reeling from the experience.
"I do not know Fu, I do not know at all, but it felt... powerful." You glance down at the scroll, wondering if there's more to be discovered.
As you continue studying the scroll, you notice that the glowing sensation returns, this time spreading more slowly and deliberately. The voice whispers once more, this time offering guidance and insight into the ancient text. You feel a deep sense of connection to the scroll, as if it's communicating with you on a level beyond words.
The experience is both exhilarating and terrifying, as you sense the enormity of the power that you're unlocking. Fu watches in awe as you continue to study the scroll, his eyes fixed on the ethereal light that now seems to emanate from you.
As the hours turn to days, you find yourself lost in the world of the sacred text. The teachings of The Mirthful Ones become a part of you, shaping your thoughts and guiding your actions. You feel a profound connection to the divine, a sense of oneness that fills you with a deep sense of peace. One day, you are summoned back to the grand chamber where the Pharaoh and Crown Prince Nefer-Hotep reside.
The servants lead you through the palace's labyrinthine corridors, and you can feel your heart begin to race as you approach the grand chamber once more. The doors creak open, revealing the same regal figures that you met before. The Pharaoh regards you with a stern expression, his eyes scrutinizing every detail of your appearance. Crown Prince Nefer-Hotep, on the other hand, remains silent, his gaze steady and unwavering.
As you enter the chamber, the Pharaoh beckons you forward. "Have you memorized the sacred text?" he asks, his voice echoing off the stone walls. You nod, confident in your newfound knowledge. The Pharaoh signals to his advisor, who approaches you with a scroll. "Then recite it for us," he says, his expression unreadable.
"Thou must make sacrifice in my name every night, splash the blood of the wicked across the walls of judgement, my miracles. Thou must kneel before my altars with pieces of thy sacrifce to honor me, to do so will grant ye three boons. It is forbidden to take up any false gods, for I am the angel of double meaning, the triple death of all things both here and before"
The Pharaoh listens intently as you recite the sacred text, his expression unreadable. Once you finish, he nods slowly, deep in thought. "Very well," he says finally. "You have proven yourself worthy of our trust. We have a task for you, should you choose to accept it."
You feel a mixture of excitement and trepidation as the Pharaoh speaks. "We have received word of a growing threat to our kingdom," he continues. "A group of rebels who seek to overthrow our rule and replace it with their own. We believe they have discovered the location of a powerful artifact that could help them achieve their goals."
You lean forward, intrigued by the Pharaoh's revelation. "What kind of artifact are we talking about?" you ask, your voice barely above a whisper.
The Pharaoh's expression remains grim. "An artifact of great power, one that has been hidden away for centuries."
You feel a surge of adrenaline as you listen to the Pharaoh's words. "What do you want me to do?" you ask, already sensing the gravity of the situation.
The Pharaoh nods. "We need someone to infiltrate the rebels' ranks and gather information about their plans."
You swallow hard, wondering if you're up for such a dangerous task. "And if I accept this mission, what assurances do I have?" You ask, needing to know the stakes involved. The Pharaoh leans back in his throne, considering your question.
"You have our word that if you succeed in your mission, you will be rewarded with riches beyond your wildest dreams. And if you fail, you will face the wrath of the kingdom." His voice is solemn, but there's an unspoken promise in his eyes.
"But first you must complete the ceremony and become one of us" The Pharaoh's voice is firm as he looks down upon you.
You nod your head, understanding the gravity of the situation. "I will do as you ask," you reply, feeling a mixture of fear and determination.
The Pharaoh nods, satisfied with your answer. "Very well," he says, his voice ringing with authority. "Then you must prepare yourself for the ceremony. It will be a rigorous test of your physical and mental endurance, but if you succeed, you will be welcomed into our ranks with open arms."
You nod, feeling a surge of determination as you prepare to embark on this new journey. "I understand, my Pharaoh," you reply, bowing your head in respect. "I will not fail you."
As you step back from the throne, you feel a rush of energy coursing through your veins. The weight of the Pharaoh's words hangs heavy on your shoulders, but you know that you have no choice but to see this through. You hold the commandments in your grip and begin to finish the task before you, the first part of the first ceremony.
