A week had passed since their disappointing date night and Irene had been correct in assuming Eve wouldn’t remember to stop by the atelier to get her measurements taken for the dress she was making for her. Irene had to remind her multiple times during the week and when Eve finally did show up, it was late and she was in a bad mood, making excuses for her tardiness and complaining about Irene having to measure her as she thought Irene should have her measurements from before. Irene had made clothes for Eve before, so she did have measurements from then in her notes, but she didn’t want to upset Eve by explaining that she had noticed her size change since then and that was why she really needed to take new measurements, so instead she just apologized and claimed she must have misplaced her measurements during a deep clean of the atelier or something.
Irene was tired and almost didn’t want to bring up the fact that they didn’t have any plans for date night this week, but she felt she had to as they had never missed a date night since they got back together the last time. “So, what do you want to do for date night tomorrow? Any ideas?”, Irene asked as gently as possible, not wanting to make Eve’s mood worse than it already was. To her surprise Eve brightened up at the mention of their date night. “Oh, right! I thought it would be fun for us to go to that new club that just opened. I heard it’s very LGBTQ+ friendly, besides we haven’t gone out properly in awhile.”, Eve said excitedly, giving Irene her famous puppy eyes when she looked like she was hesitating. Irene could never say no to that face, so she agreed. Eve’s mood stayed up for the rest of the measurement session as they chatted about what they were going to wear to the club and who they thought they might run into there. Eve always knew a lot of people wherever they went and so she had a lot of gossip to share, which Irene found entertaining, if a little mindless.
The next night they made it to the newly opened club, no queuing as they had gotten VIP access immediately, and headed straight for the bar to get their first drinks. Irene suspected it wasn’t Eve’s first drink, though, as she had already seemed tipsy in the car on the way to the club. Eve was in a good mood as she ordered them drinks and sang along to the songs the DJ was playing. They were both dressed to the nines, which pleased Irene as she still remembered that Eve hadn’t put much effort into her look last time. Maybe Eve had just been tired last week? Maybe getting out for a bit was just what they needed, Eve seemed more upbeat and Irene had never been opposed to a little bit of partying.
They were dancing, body against body, very much in each other's personal space, ever closer on the dance floor as the music was pounding and the drinks were hitting just right. Eve looked so seductive in the club's dim light and something about the heat of her body against Irene’s had them both glued to each other like magnets. Soon they were making out, tasting like liquor and anticipation. Eve wrapped her arms around Irene’s neck, leaning ever closer into the kiss, eyes closing in bliss. It took some time for them to separate and when they did, they were smiling and laughing at each other out of pure joy.
On a break from dancing they were sitting at a table to the side, Irene tracing patterns on Eve’s arms, sipping drinks and not chatting too much as the music was too loud to be easily heard over. Eve’s phone was on the table with the screen up and so while Eve got up to get another round of drinks for them Irene happened to see a message notification pop up. The message was from some girl named “Mandy” and it just said “meet up?”. Irene tried to ignore it, they were having fun, it was probably just a friend. But who was Mandy? She didn’t think she had heard Eve mention anyone with that name before. On the other hand, Eve had a lot of friends, it was impossible for her to keep track of all of them.
Eve made it back to the table with their drinks and Irene decided not to ruin the mood by being paranoid about something as silly as a text message. Eve was mouthing the words to a song that was playing, swaying to the beat in her seat, as she picked up her phone to check her notifications. She kept swaying, but started typing a reply, which Irene assumed was to that Mandy girl. Not long after Eve got up. “I’m going to the bathroom, be right back!”, she shouted to be heard over the music, pointing towards the bathrooms. “Okay!”, Irene yelled back, motioning with a hand sign that she understood. Eve made her way towards the bathroom and was gone for quite some time.
In the bathroom Eve was indeed meeting “Mandy”, but it wasn’t so much a friendly meetup as it was a business deal, as “Mandy” was what she had named her dealer in her phone, who sold her MDMA. Eve walked out the club bathroom and ran into some friends, so she stayed and chatted with them longer than she had anticipated, so maybe half an hour later when she made it back to the table, Irene didn’t look so happy, unlike Eve who now was feeling an euphoric bliss and just wanted to continue where they left off on the dance floor earlier, in each other’s arms, touching… So when Irene said she didn’t feel like dancing, Eve called her boring and went to dance on her own for some time, time wasn’t really important and Eve couldn’t really keep track of it so she had no idea how long she danced without Irene.
Irene had immediately noticed the abnormal size of her girlfriends pupils when she finally made it back from the bathroom, she was already bummed about having been left alone at the table for so long and now she had to put up with Eve getting high as well. So much for a fun date night, they weren’t kids anymore, why was Eve still getting high at the club? Besides, she had promised over and over not to do it. She guessed Eve just couldn’t help it in a setting like this, she was known to party hard after all. Maybe she should just let it go and go dance with her before someone else got their hands on her girlfriend. Irene had noticed some other people on the dance floor eyeing Eve dancing alone and the state she was in could only lead to trouble...
