I can breath... truly can breath...
The last time I came to Laje beach was with Damian and Kylie right before starting college. Where everything was just right. I couldn't help but recall the sheer happiness and the wonderful memories we created together.
With gentle waves lapping against the shoreline and refreshing sea breeze carries the scent of salt and freshness. The soft sand beneath their feet felt warm, inviting them to relax and unwind.
Anna felt the fine grains slipping between her toes as she strolled along the shore, hand in hand with Damian, and Kylie skipping ahead, her laughter echoing in the air along with their friends.
As the sun began to set over the horizon, leaving a golden glow across the beach, they sat on a blanket, savoring a picnic dinner. The rhythmic sound of the waves crashing against the shore created a soothing symphony, providing the soundtrack to their heartfelt conversations and shared laughter.
The third day was the most memorable one. It was a day filled with warmth and sunshine, the kind that seemed to infuse their surroundings with an extra touch of magic. Anna and Damian had found a separated spot on the beach, away from their friends.
They sat together, their fingers intertwined, gazing out at the vast expanse of the blue sea before them. The world around them had faded into the background, leaving only the two of them in a realm of their own.
In that moment, Damian turned to Anna with a soft smile. His eyes sparkled with his obvious love, a reflection of the emotions swirling within his heart. Anna's heart skipped a beat as she saw the sincerity in his gaze, knowing something special was about to be shared.
With a voice filled with tenderness and nervousness, Damian uttered the words that would forever be etched in Anna's memory. With teary eyes, Anna threw herself into his arms. Rush of emotions flooded over her, overwhelming her senses.
She leaned in, her lips brushing against his, sealing their love in an intimate and passionate kiss. As the kiss lingered, a loud gasp of delight and surprise escaped from their friends' lips. They had been silently observing the romance between Anna and Damian, and now they erupted into cheers and applause.
"I totally believe this is the one." Luca's voice pulled me back from my memories. I gazed back at him. "The house is isolated but just twenty minutes walk to downtown."
I smiled at him. Luca is Kylie's cousin, and he owns one of the most significant real estate agency in the country. I called him the day I opened the first draft of Euphoria; I wanted to go to another city, somewhere where I could be happy, and Seixal was one of the few places where I solely had memories of Damian.
I thought I would never forget him... yet his memory gradually faded. This left a bitter taste on my heart.
I took the stairs to where Luca was standing across from the main door of the house. "Yeah, I love it."
Luca placed his hand on my shoulder, giving me a sided hug. "I'm sorry, I couldn't get you the old house." I smiled as I returned the hug.
"It's fine, don't worry, I totally appreciate your help in getting this house in such short notice." I smiled again; I didn't want to overthink it. When Luca mentioned the old house we used to rent, it brought up the same memories.
The place where Damian and I shared many moments. I can't... just too much for me.
