Carson's pov
I always like this time of the year not necessarily because my birthday comes right after school ends but because it's finally summer!
Summer is my favourite season, I love the warmth, the sunshine and of course no school that's the best part.
The only negative about the end of the school year is the finals but that is fine, we always do those every year, and I'll pass no problem.
But this year I'm especially excited for another reason, this year we get to have an end-of-school-year school trip and I can't wait!
It's gonna be so fun! It's even better than all the trips I've done with the school. This time around we'll be sleeping in cabins and we'll stay two nights and three days.
I already can't wait!
But that's only after the finals are over, so right now I have to do well on those exams and today it's one of them.
Today I have two final exams, it's math first and in the afternoon it's English. Ugh, math is the worst but I'm sure it'll pull it off.
Since the school schedule changes during the finals, we'll have lots of free time after the math exam. Well, it depends on how long it takes for people.
I'll probably study with Ella.
Speaking of her there she comes.
Mid-length typical bond hair, well-styled with her piercing blue eyes. She is quite beautiful but it's her height that makes her stand out, she's small. She's just 5.1 ft which is small in comparison to me but I find it cute.
Today, she's wearing a light blue sleeveless crop top with high light blue jean shorts paired with typical stylish summer sandals. The perfect outfit for a summer sunny day.
Meanwhile, I am wearing a navy thin shirt with a white border paired with dark jeans shorts and sandals for me too. I guess I am well dressed too but I can thank my papa for that.
She notices me and smiles, the metal on her teeth appears. Oh, I forgot to mention she has braces. It's common for our age and even if she looks cool with it, she told me how much it hurts so I'm glad I don't need one of those.
"Hey, handsome." She says smiling and I smile.
"Hey, cutie," I say back smiling and she smiles even more.
"Did I make you wait long at the lockers?" She asks suddenly worried and that makes me slightly panic.
"No, no. I've arrived not long ago." I hurry to say.
Even if I did wait a bit, I can't just tell her that.
"Oh ok. I was afraid I got you waiting." She says relieved and I smile.
She opens her locker and I compliment her even before she looks at herself in her mirror, we both laugh.
But suddenly we get rudely interrupted.
"Well, well look at these love birds laughing together. When's the kiss?" A guy says that and it turns out to be my brother Cayden.
Gosh, he can never leave me alone, can he?
"Oh, piss off Cayden," Ella says annoyed but my brother smiles.
"Aw, what are you so angry about?" He says teasing her but I know him, he's annoying.
"You of course." She says annoyed and my brother still has a smile.
"Oh me? I'm flattered." He says laughing a little but I don't like that.
"Leave us alone Cayden," I say annoyed and he turns to look at me.
"Oh, jealous much?" Cayden says smirking and that makes me angry.
I'm about to say something but suddenly a girl comes right next to Cayden, his girlfriend Sofia.
"Leave those losers alone, they're not worth it." His girlfriend says while looking down at us.
"Fine, you get saved this time around but don't hope on that next time." My brother says smirking and then he leaves with his girlfriend.
"Gosh, what is their problem? Especially your brother. Why is he always on our case?" Ella asks frustrated.
"You know how he is, he always annoys us. It's good his girlfriend keeps her in check." I say a bit annoyed too.
"Yeah but did you hear what she said? She called us losers! What is her problem?!" She says complaining and I start to freak out a bit.
"Ella, like she said, we're not worth her time, and so is she." I try to convince her and luckily I do.
"Yeah, you're right. She's just a b*tch." She says annoyed and my eyes widen.
"Ella, no curse words remember?" I say still frightened and she seems to notice her mistake.
"Oops, sorry Carson, I didn't mean to say that." She says apologetically and I accept her apology.
"It's fine, just don't do it again," I say a bit bothered.
"Promise I won't." She smiles apologetically and I smile too.
Then she goes back to her locker which is still open.
She asks which subject is the exam about and then she takes her math things and then locking her locker.
Then, as usual we head to my locker which is in the either side where I take my math stuff too and lock my locker.
"Now let's go ace this exam!" She says confident and we high-five.
"Let's ace it!" I agree equally confident.

Emerick's pov
Finally, the math exam is done. I was afraid I would run out of time.
I didn't even understand the wording of some of those sentences. The exam was so complicated but I think I should pass. Well, that's what I hope for.
It's not math I'm worried about, it's English. English is my worst subject. I'm not that good in the competence of writing especially not the competence of reading. I'm really not good at that and the exam is about both of those competencies. We'll have to write a 500-word essay based on a text we've read in advance.
I'm very worried about this exam because if I fail, I might have to retake my grade.
And what I find unfair is that no matter how hard I try, I can't get better.
As frustrating as it is, I can't complain, I just need to try my very best and hope there's gonna be a miracle.

Carson's pov
The math exam went well and I already can't wait for all the other exams to be over.
As it's now time to eat lunch, Ella and I head to the cafeteria and go wait in line.
While waiting I can't help but notice by the side of my eye Emerick sitting all alone with his lunch, studying what must be the English text.
Emerick is such a nerd, he's always studying all the time, even when lunch comes around.
I'll never understand how he does it.
"Carson?" Ella questions me and that snaps me out of my trance.
"What were you looking at?" She asks confused.
"Nothing!" I say a bit too suspicious and she looks at me skeptical but lets it go.
"It's our turn."
"Oh, ok," I say still shaken up.
We let the lunch lady put food on our tray and then we go sit down together.
As we sit down, I can't help but think about the school trip once again.
And that makes me think about the class meeting we have on Wednesday to select the partners of the cabins.
Then I start to fantasize about who could possibly be my cabin partners.
"You know how the school trip is in a few days," I say to Ella and she nods.
"Yeah? And what about it?" She asks suddenly curious.
"I was just thinking about who are cabin partner could be," I say ecstatic at the idea.
"Oh yeah, I almost forgot about that. I hope I get good partners. I don't want a girl that snores or something." She says a bit disgusted at the idea and I chuckle.
"I wouldn't want that either but I don't know who could be my partners. I just hope it's not like my brother and his friend." I say a bit annoyed at that idea and her smile drops slightly.
"I really hope you don't end up with them." She says sympathetically.
"Let's just hope we'll get good partners," I say and she agrees.
"I hope so too." She says.
