Skylar remembers the morning after The Event.
The day after the biggest mistake of his life, when he had to deal with his consequences and also just the fact of what happened. The night before, after they both achieved several orgasms, Skylar was absolutely exhausted. Ashton did what he could to clean them with a towel, but Skylar's mind was fucking blown. For some reason at the time he was under the impression that that was probably the best sex he would ever have and Ashton had some goddamn talent.
Obviously now he knows he was just delusional from pleasure or something, but that's besides the point. He was basically brain dead when it was over, and Skylar is pretty sure one night stands are supposed to be over as soon as the sex is over. However, Skylar was lying naked in bed with Ashton's cum leaking out of him after getting his brains fucked out, legs twitching. Seriously, he couldn't think. Therefore, he didn't fight it when Ashton grabbed him and situated them both under the covers.
Yes. Ashton fucking cuddled him after sex, which Skylar is pretty sure is not supposed to happen when it's no strings attached. Still, he was too exhausted to care. He actually snuggled further into Ashton's neck, lying half on top of him as he drifted off to sleep, enjoying the warmth.
The next morning was a serious fucking wake up call, though. So much for the bliss from the night before.
He opened his eyes to light peeking through the curtains of a luxurious room it took him a minute to remember. Once he realized he was in an unfamiliar place, he woke up quite fast. He couldn't move very well at first, so he just slowly sat up. The interior design was a dark theme, and he saw a pile of clothes on the floor. Some of the clothes he could recognize as his own, and that caused a surge of alarm.
Skylar was naked.
He was also in pain, and not even just from his injuries the night before. No, he had pain in his lower back, including a specific orifice of his. He was feeling more relaxed and at ease than normal, which in hindsight probably had something to do with the orgasms. He didn't have many of those usually.
Still, as soon as he laid his eyes on a passed out Ashton beside him, he went into panic mode.
Ashton had a tattoo his back, as well as a half sleeve on his arm, that Skylar had never really noticed before. Well, he'd seen the sleeve, but it never processed. Ashton also had scratch marks down his back, which had Skylar already blushing. He was lying on his stomach with an arm across Skylar's waist, the other hanging off the other edge of the bed from the elbow down. He was asleep, Skylar could hear his soft, stead breathing, and that's when it really hit him what happened last night.
Skylar got out of there as fast as he possibly could. He was immediately putting on some of Ashton's clothes without permission, just leaving his own ruined ones on the floor. He called Jessie to come pick him up and take him back to his car, and the guy obliged. He was there in ten minutes, and Skylar was able to slip out before Ashton ever woke.
The drive to Skylar's car was awkward, but almost entirely from his own end. He felt bad keeping this from Jessie, but he absolutely could not tell him. He did ask if Jessie had ever been in Ashton's house, which the guy responded to with a negative. Skylar was then questioned about the hickeys on his neck, and he made an excuse about it happening with a girl at school or something. Jessie accepted the answer without question.
That was the first time Skylar awoke to Ashton. The second, was the morning after the whole ordeal of Ashton being mad and Jessie being confused and Skylar getting the shit beaten out of him.
He woke up to his phone buzzing, and groaned, rolling over onto his back. He felt minutely better than yesterday, but that wasn't saying much. He still wanted to curl up into a hole and die, but decided to just answer his phone and get it over with. He didn't look at the caller ID, though it's not like he actually had Ashton's number saved yet. Still, if he knew it was Ashton he probably wouldn't have answered.
He pressed the green button and put it on speaker. Immediately, Ashton's irritated voice was coming out of the device. He didn't even say hi. "You better be at a hospital."
"Oh my god, drop it," Skylar groans, blinking up at the ceiling as he tries to wake up. He feels like he got hit by a truck.
"I'm not fucking around," Ashton says, and Skylar is still way too sleepy. He blames the headspace he's been in lately, and also his lack of logic due to having just woken up, but the only thing going through his mind is how hot Ashton is when he's mad and protective and shit. God, Skylar needs therapy or something. "Maybe Jessie couldn't tell, but you're in bad shape and you know it."
Skylar sits up in an attempt to wake himself faster. He looks down at his fucked up body, and it hits him that yesterday he was wearing pants and a hoodie. So, how on earth did Ashton see?
"Okay, and how are you so sure?" Skylar asks, finally beginning to get his wits about him. He has never woken up and been confronted with a pissed off Ashton. This is a first.
"I can tell." Ashton replies simply, and Skylar is getting sick of this guy being so fucking cryptic. "Don't make me come down there. You really want to deal with more questioning?"
Yeah, he's actually right about that. If Ashton comes down here and kidnaps Skylar to force him to get the medical treatment that he most definitely should seek, it will absolutely arise some questions. Even worse, Jessie may begin to catch on. It's not like Ashton is being all that discreet. Discreet about what, Skylar's not sure, but he's acting noticeably strange.
"I can't go to the hospital. My dad said that if I get hospitalized or fail another class he's kicking me out of the house."
There's a silence, and Skylar is too tired to get up and move around just yet. Honestly, he's not entirely sure he should. Maybe he should take a rest day or something. God knows he needs it.
"I'll pay for it." Ashton says after a moment. Skylar wonders if he knows how much money that would, because it's a lot. "You will never be homeless, stop being dramatic."
"Yes I will. They'll know who I am. He will kick me out before he loses his next campaign, and my bullshit hurts his image. Why don't you just mind your fucking business?"
"Why don't you listen to me?"
Skylar lets out a noise of frustration, anger bubbling up inside him. He's about to say some shit he doesn't mean, but whatever. Anything to get this guy off his back. The last thing Skylar wants right now is to be hassled about his bodily condition.
"Oh my god, why do you care?" Skylar snaps, his irritation obnoxiously apparent in his voice. "Huh? Because we had a one night stand? Stop acting like you give a fuck about me, it meant nothing to either of us. You're best friends with my brother. That's it."
"I never said I gave a fuck about you," Ashton says calmly, and Skylar rolls his eyes. "I'm telling you that you need a doctor."
"Move on," Skylar says, and then he begins to overcompensate. This ends up turning the conversation on its head. "Either way you're really fucking acting like it. It was one night, and you weren't even good. Leave it alone."
Skylar pauses when those words leave his mouth. Wow, he hasn't told a lie that bad in a while. He can't believe he's even capable of pretending that night wasn't amazing, that those weren't the best orgasms he's ever had and Ashton didn't know exactly where to touch him to have him seeing stars. Oh well, too late now.
The line goes dead silent, and Skylar starts to feel nervous. He's getting the sense he should not have said that.
"...I wasn't good." Ashton repeats, and Skylar purses his lips. Hopefully Ashton doesn't remember it that well, because if he does... yeah, Skylar has no shot of convincing him it wasn't absolutely amazing.
"Worst night of my life."
"Interesting," Ashton says, and it's hard to tell over the phone, but his tone is definitely dropping. Oh no, he better not start talking in that voice or Skylar will probably have to hang up. "'Cause I seem to remember you enjoying yourself quite a bit."
"Then you probably have amnesia."
The next time Ashton speaks, Skylar is positive. He is using the fucking voice, and along with the look he gets in his eyes, that is probably Skylar's biggest weakness. It really tries his self control.
"Fuck, Ash, you're so big," Ashton mocks Skylar from that night in that same low voice, over-annunciating certain vowels for sarcasm, and it causes an adrenaline rush. Oh no, he definitely misstepped with that one. If only there was an undo button for life. "I'm gonna cum, oh my god, you feel so good—"
"Shut up!" Skylar snaps, face beet red and really trying to fight any arousal this could cause. Why does Ashton Ashton of all people get these reactions from him? Why can't they just have a normal enemy relationship, why does it have to be so fucking complicated? Why can't Skylar hate him without the sexual attraction? This is so goddamn annoying. "Shut your fucking mouth, you have no idea what you're talking about. I never said that."
Skylar definitely said that.
"I think I do," Ashton replies easily. Skylar is just trying to calm his racing heart and keep his thoughts clean. He's also trying to get his body to chill out, but that's a lot easier said than done. "And I think you do, too. Unless you want a reminder."
"Reminder of what?" Skylar huffs, doing everything in his power to calm down his body's response to all this. He does not need to be thinking like this right now. He really, really fucking doesn't.
"How much you loved my cock."
"W-Whatever." Skylar snaps, blushing way too much, and he's so over this shit. He can't even argue. It's time to hang up before he says something he will regret. Seriously, they have treaded so far into flirting territory that it's actually taking a lot for Skylar not to order him to come over and- never mind. He's starting to think he may need to keep his distance from this guy. "Fuck you and your stupid hospital money, you... y-you're fucking gross and I'll die before I let that shit happen again. Bye."
Then, Skylar hangs up, cursing how lame his response was and the fact that there really was absolutely no conviction to what he just said. If Ashton has half a brain cell, which he clearly does, the guy won't believe a single word that just came out of his mouth.
Skylar goes back to sleep, and basically just stays passed out all day. He recovers from his injuries the best he can, pretty sure nothing got broken since if something did... he'd probably know by now. Hopefully he can make a semi-speedy recovery, so that he doesn't have to deal with any fallout from this.
Skylar wakes up at about 6 PM, and doesn't check his phone or anything. Instead, he does what he does best. Especially since he'd really like something to take this pain away. He takes some cyto and turns on his TV, before relaxing the rest of the night and trying to forget Ashton and Jessie moving and all the bullshit, generally.
He only mostly succeeds.
