Day 5
Adelmo took a look at the time, realized it was near 8 o’clock the next morning. They both sat up. Adelmo kept his hand on Lana’s lower back, enjoying her touch while they sat there for a moment.
He thought to himself, “As much as I want to stay home and spend more time with her. I knew I couldn’t. I need to go see my grandfather. I will really miss her.”
Lana looks back, “Would you like to head to the airport now?”
“Let me freshen up really quick, and then we can get going.”
“OK.”
Adelmo grabbed some clothes and went into the bathroom. Turned on the shower and washed up really quickly. Stepped out, dried off and put clothes on. He looked in the mirror and raked his fingers through his hair. Brushed his teeth and stepped out of the bathroom.
“Lana, I know you staying the night wasn’t planned, but do you want to use the bathroom to do anything before we head out?”
Lana smiled, “Yeah, let me freshen up really quick as well.”
She grabbed her purse and walked into the bathroom. She opened up her purse and pulled out a few items. A travel-sized spray bottle, a travel-sized toothbrush and toothpaste.
She thought to herself, “Good thing I keep these things on hand. You never know if you will need them.”
She filled the bottle and sprayed water over her hair. When she is done, she drags her fingers through her lengthy hair. Working out the tangles. Once she finished that. She hung her head in front of her with the head down. She fluffs it. Swinging her head back to an upright position. Looking into the mirror at her hair.
“Not bad.” She thought.
Brushed her teeth, put everything away and walked out the bathroom.
Adelmo had a shocked look on his face, “Wow, you look amazing.
She smiled, “Thanks, are you ready to go?”
“Yes, we should get going.”
They head out the door, get in the car to head over to the airport. Lana noticed the traffic seemed abnormally dead today. It felt similar to the dream she had. A feel of emptiness as they drove. She tried not to think too much about it.
They arrive at the airport and Adelmo suggests to Lana, “You should park the car, so you can see me off.”
Lana wasn’t about to argue with that idea. If she has a chance to see him longer, she will take it. So she pulled into the parking lot and looked around, “Adelmo?” with a confused look on her face.
“What, What’s wrong?”
Lana pointed out, “There is not even one car here.”
“Well, that is weird.”
Lana pulled into the front parking spot. They both got out of the car and made their way into the airport hoping people would be there.
They walked through the door, “No one is here, are we still dreaming?” They both thought.
They got to where Adelmo had his flight. No one around was behind the desk.
They sat on the bench, “Lana, what do you think is going on?” In a worried tone.
“I am not sure. Oddly enough, it almost feels like a dream.”
“No wonder it feels so familiar. Do you think perhaps we are still dreaming?”
Lana, with a confused look on her face, “I don’t think we are. I know this feels real, just like the dream. I guess anything is possible, right?”
They both start rubbing their eyes in confusion. While their eyes are covered.
Adelmo hears something, “LANA, DO YOU HEAR THAT? IT SOUNDS LIKE PEOPLE!”
“Yes, I hear it too.”
They both uncovered their eyes and saw people walking through the airport.
In shock at how busy the airport really was. Watching people pass by making their way to their flight. They saw the person behind the desk.
They both show signs of relief but are really confused about what just happened.
They announce, “We are now boarding flight 861 to Miami, Florida.”
"Well, Lana, I need to get going. Come walk me over, OK?"
Lana walked with Adelmo over to the entrance. They give each other a hug. “Lana, Thank you for everything.” Holding her tightly. Making her feel safe in his arms.
The surge rushed through each other, they looked into one another's eyes.
“Lana, I am really going to miss you.”
Then he suddenly moves in slowly for a kiss. Lana’s heart starts pounding with excitement, “He is finally going to do this! I have been dreaming about this moment for so long.”
Eagerly waiting, Lana couldn’t wait any longer. She went the rest of the way to lock lips with each other.
It had a strange feeling to it, almost like their energy within combined with each other turning into one. This feeling was amazing. Neither of them had ever felt this connection before in their lives.
They enjoyed every moment of it, trying to make it last as long as possible before Adelmo had to get on that plane.
They announced, “Final call for flight 861 to Miami.”
Adelmo and Lana released each other slowly, wishing it could last longer.
Lana's arms were wrapped around his neck and his arms were lightly wrapped around her waist, looking into her eyes. The words slipped from Adelmo’s mouth, “I love you.” His eyes got big.
He quickly changed the subject, “I will keep you informed on what is going on over there,” and quickly boarded the plane.
Lana shouted, “Alright, be safe and talk to you soon.” Lana felt a little down that he rushed off so quickly.
She thought about it, “Did he say those words by accident? Maybe he was caught up in the moment”, She wondered. She knew that this was going to bug her till she knew the truth.
She headed off to the book store to open it up for the day.
She had no idea making that connection would change her life in so many ways.
