Although I enjoyed literatures, this particular lecture seemed to draw on and on; during the break, I finished my assignment for the week, and went back to Mx. Rune talking about a certain author, how they were the first to write and publish a Queer story in their time. I did like learning about that, but it was quite draining on my social battery. Once it ended, I slinked away and walked back to my home.
As I fidgeted with the lock on the front door, something touched my shoulder. I struck them in the stomach with my knee, pushing them harshly. They stumbled, falling to the ground.
“Woah! I come in peace, kid!” Chester wheezed.
“Don’t you even sneak up on me like that again, Chester!” I sneered. Good thing I didn’t grab my knife...
“Gods- sorry...” he stood. “Didn’t know you were so jumpy.” he grinned.
“What do you want?” I crossed my arms.
“I came back a few hours ago to see you, but you weren’t here. I-” he dropped his gaze. “I wanted to make sure you were ok.” I looked him up and down. “Plus, wanna have dinner tonight?”
“Now’s not a good time.” I huffed.
“Why?” he stepped closer.
“I just got back- I'm not in the mood for people right now.” I noticed the door I pressed my back into. “Let’s schedule dinner for Friday, ok?” I smiled gently. “Mondays, Fridays, and the weekends are better for hanging out, ok?”
“Ah, ok.” he nodded slowly. “I’ll see you on Friday- that actually works well with my schedule-” he spoke to himself.
“Yeah- just- don’t bring anyone here. That bodyguard of yours is really rough.” I held my shoulder.
“You don’t question what my job is that I require a bodyguard?” he scoffed.
“Don’t all rich people have ‘em?” I shrugged.
“Uh, we’ll talk more later, right?” he smiled. “Can you text my number, so I know it’s you?”
“Fine.” I sighed, digging around in my bag from my phone. “Here.” I sent a simple text. “I’ve got to go now, so see you later.” I opened the door finally.
“Right- ok.” he nodded. “See ya.” he waved slightly.
