He's out cold... I walked past Chester from having a shower; I walked into my room, got dressed and opened my window. I was greeted with a long and broken meow, a black and orange cat leaping onto the wooden floor.
“Hey Mars,” I hummed as he rubbed against my leg. “I know, I entirely forgot about you...” I picked him up. “I’m sorry.”
Mars only nuzzled my neck, purring happily. I let him down on my bed, cuddling up with him as I pulled the covers over me.
The next morning, I was greeted with a note posted on my door; Chester had left sometime in the night as the rain eased, he left his number, and a promise that he’d come around again to properly say goodbye.
With a long yawn I walked into my kitchen, pouring Mars his food, backtracking to the bathroom to get ready for the day. Once dressed properly, I opened up the shop, greeting a few customers. By midday I was growing hungry; I served my last customer, flipping the sign on the door, saying I'd be back in less than a half hour.
I walked down the street, and to a small café. I quite liked getting sandwiches from here, as they let you customize it. I ordered my food, sitting and waiting to be called up; I was at the window, staring out at the people walking by. A face startled me, Chester, the guest I harboured walked in.
“Mr. Hys.” my name was called so I got up, I took my bag of food and walked past Chester and out the door.
“Hey- kid?” Chester locked eyes with me, following. “Wait up-!”
“Hm.” I grumbled, stopping.
“I was gonna buy you lunch, but I didn’t know what you’d like,” he caught up to me, smiling. “I’m glad I caught you~!”
“Is there a reason you need me, Mr. Chester?” I gripped my paper bag tightly.
“Ah...” he paused. “Is it so bad that I wanted to see you again? I didn’t give you a proper goodbye-”
“Debts are squared.” I stated. “You have no further need to stall your life. I'm sure you’re richly busy.”
“Can you stop with the rich thing?” he huffed. “I just-” he was cut off, his phone ringing. “Shit-” he sighed. “I’ll try to see you tomorrow, ok? I need to talk to you.”
“Whatever.” I started off. “Do as you want, Mr. Chester,”
“Ugh,” he put the phone to his ear. “What? I'm busy- I'm with someone important-!”
