Alistair
“Yeah, you’re pretty stupid.” Andy leaned back. “There’s a reason you can’t find a good omega to be by your side and always come back to me. You can’t talk to them.”
“Gee, thanks.” I rolled my eyes, pulling my cigarettes out of my pocket.
“Where do you think it went wrong?” He asked, taking one final drag of his own cigarette, and he leaned forward to stub it out in the ashtray.
“I guess when I asked him out in the first place.” I pulled one of my cigarettes out and put it between my lips, and I put the pack of them away and grabbed my custom lighter. I flicked the flint to it until a flame lit, and I held it to the end of the cigarette, lighting it. I inhaled the first bit of smoke, pulled it from my lips, and held it in.
Andy rubbed his face and shook his head. “How did you ask him out?”
“Well, I asked him if he wanted to go with me for dinner, then I might have said some stupid shit. He got really defensive and snarky when I did, though.” I closed my eyes, leaning my head back, and let out the smoke I had held in.
“This doesn’t shock me,” Andy rolled his eyes. “You’re an idiot.”
“I probably shouldn’t have accused him of sleeping with a lot of people.” I bit down on my bottom lip.
“You’re kidding me, right?”
“No. Then I tried saving myself by reminding him I was asking him to dinner as his roommate.” I wanted to smack myself in the face because of my ignorance. Andy closed his eyes for a second and shook his head in disapproval.
“You surely know how to do some stupid shit, don’t you?” He rolled his eyes.
“On paper, I’m great. In person, I may act irrational.” I shrugged my shoulders, tipping my head to the side.
“Yeah,” He said. “You really do. I’m sorry I played around with him, though. I don’t think he'll want me around when you actually succeed in gaining his trust again. ”
“I mean, you kinda did that to yourself.” I shrugged, chuckling. “Imagine being one of my long-time friends and fuck buddies just to fuck that up.”
“It’s not like I like you like that, anyways,” He looked toward his bodyguard, who stood at the entrance of the door. He was just a little older than the both of us, but he had the look of someone who had seen plenty of shit in his lifetime.
It was no secret he pined after his bodyguard. It was also no secret that he also wanted another fresh meat bodyguard for his fathers either. Knowing him, he’d end up with both in the end, probably long after his father passed, though, because no way would that old bastard want his son to be with someone of low status hence why he came to me to get his rocks, off.
His father liked me, mainly because I was a good businessman in the day and in the night. We’d work together frequently too, and it made it easier for both Andy and I to hook up. So, in that case, it was a win-win situation for me.
“How do you think I should make this up to him?” I asked. “Or should I let him cool down a bit?”
“I mean, I’d let him cool for a few days, but don’t let it go on too long, or else he won't be interested in you anymore. Then maybe you could make it up to him by doing something for him? Like, what is he interested in?” I looked away in thought.
Now that I thought of it, I didn’t know much about the omega other than him taking drugs that a secondary gender care specialist should have only prescribed. He was once homeless. He used to work at a coffee shop. He still worked at the bar.
I only knew that his scent drove me mad. He felt comfortable to be around. I wanted to learn everything about him. I wanted to kiss every part of him and learn all about his body, all of his flaws, and what made him the way he was.
“You don’t know anything about him, do you?” Andy sighed and rubbed his face with his hand. “Alpha’s are so stupid. They only think with their dicks and then learn shit afterward. Do you even know if he likes flowers? Chocolate? Anything?”
My silence answered his question quickly.
“Seriously, Ace?”
“I don’t know what you want me to say. Something draws me to him. Y’know that myth of fated pairings?” I asked. “That’s what I feel for him. I feel the instinct to protect him, to mark him as mine.” I rubbed my arm.
Andy rolled his eyes. “You’re lame. I guess you need to study the omega a bit more before you grovel.”

Almost a month passed, and it was like Alistair and I danced around each other's schedules. I hardly saw him, and when I did, he or I would be the one leaving. After that night, he didn’t bring another omega over. In a way, I was thankful. I didn’t realize how much it would affect me until it did.
I continued working, and saving the money I made felt relieving. To know how much I actually made versus knowing every single dime I made would go to every single bill I had, and I would still have hardly anything left over.
When it came time to pay Alistair his rent, I threw in a couple hundred extra for the food, electricity, and water I had used. Since I hadn’t seen him much, I sat my rent money down on his counter before I went to work as usual, hoping not to see the alpha before I left.
He’d probably shrug his shoulders and continue with his day if he even noticed it at all.
After my shift, on my way home, I felt eyes on me. I tried my best to ignore the feeling and shrugged it off as paranoia. That was until I felt something cool against the back of my neck, and I could hear the clicking of a gun, causing me to stop in my tracks.
I swallowed and put my hands up.
“Aw man,” A woman’s strong voice said behind me. “This is what Ace is into? A little ginger brat?” She huffed.
“I mean, you’ve seen some of the boy’s he’s been with. Does this honestly shock you? I think he’s only been with a few. Cute little feminine omega’s with a little spice to ‘em.” A guy with a thick Russian accent said to the side of me, slowly walking into my line of sight.
“If it’s money you want, I don’t have much, but it’s in my pocket,” I said, keeping my eyes peeled open. Afraid that if I would blink, I would get killed quicker.
“Oh, no-no-no.” The gun was taken from my neck. “We don’t want that.” I could hear the clicks of her heels. How I didn’t hear them before now amazed me. Though, again, it would be easy to lose track of any sound when you’re trying hard to find the eyes that loomed on you.
“Yeah, we just want you.” She said, putting her hand on my chest. The woman was obviously an alpha, a strong one at that. She slipped her hand inside my shirt, causing my eyes to widen. Her other hand held her gun down to her side. “We need a little help.” Her red-tinted lips turned into a smirk.
“Yeah, we need a little help catchin’ onto that alpha you live with.” The guy said. He was balding and had a large pot belly, giving it the typical old Russian uncle look.
“Alistair?” I looked in confusion. “What would you want with him?”
“‘S name is Ace.” The man said. “And he owes me a little something in compensation for shorting me.”
“I don’t know what you have with Ace, but leave me out of it. You can take my money as a little tip of compensation from him,” I replied. The lady alpha dragged her finger up to my chin, tilting it backward, and smirked.
“Now I see it.” She licked her lips, almost as if she were a predator and I were the prey. “He’s so cute.” She almost squealed.
“No can do, little buddy. We just need to take you for a little bit. It's not the money we need. We’re needing a little something like what the lady has in her hand.” He nodded to the pistol in her hand.
I wanted to flinch, “I don’t get why I’m being dragged into something I had nothing to do with. I don’t know what shitty thing Ace does in his free time, but I have no clue what in the fuck you’re even talking about.” I snapped at them.
“He’s so cute, daddy. Can we keep him as a pet? He’s almost as feisty as one of the kittens you gave me for Christmas.” I rolled my eyes and looked away for a second, letting out a huff of air.
“Hey, don’t act like that around my baby girl.” The man said. “Anyways, sweetie, we need to get the pictures first.”
The gun was put against my temple, and I closed my eyes. I could tell her finger was on the trigger, ready to pull it and end my stupid, miserable life. I heard the clicking sound of a phone camera. Then the world went black.
