Nadia's pov: I stood up, quickly changing into a modest dress before heading downstairs. Raya's words echoed in my mind: 'you are an elemental wielder, and you have a destiny beyond your wildest dreams.'
The whole twelve years of my life I waited to hear those words, I longed to prove everyone wrong, to show I could be something better.
But that time never came. This was my life, how it is, It will always be. I felt a tingling in my fingertips, I looked down, small sparks of purple vibrated.
Of course! How could I have been so arrogant? Tonight was a full moon, meaning anyone who was powerless might be gifted.
I couldn't help but wonder, had Raya had come purposely last night? As if somehow she knew.. But there was one question left unanswered;
Why was the aura purple? It should be white or blue, the sign of a tundra wielder. Purple meant.. star powers.. 'Thats impossible, my family only has tundra wielders..!
But I do remember mother saying she was from a family of Nebula wielders.. But still, the husband's family powers would appear in the children.'
Quickly I shook the magic away. I put on some modern shoes and headed downstairs. My mother turned to see me.
Her face was expressionless, but I was used to this. Most of my family's reaction was like this when they saw me, the bad reputation.
I had gotten used to it. "I'm going to.. Run some errands." Everyone ignored me as I walked out the door.
'I bet they wouldn't even notice if I was attacked..' I walked down the street. 'A stain in their reputation.. That's all I am to my family?'
I felt my palms tingling, like this morning. Quickly I cuffed then together politely, I lowered my head as I passed a group of nobles.
They turned away, as if it was their soul mission to ignore me, and if it was, they were succeeding.
'If it turns out I do have an elemental power.. Then it's not the right one.... Nothing will change.. Nothing!' I let my arms hang limb,
My first clenched, I stopped in my tracks. A single gaze now rested on me. I turned to see my older brother Rey.
"What are you doing out here..?" He sneered, crossing his arms. My bright blond hair swayed as I turned away.
"Answer me." He said firmly. "I'm meeting with someone.." "You can't go out alone, do you know how irresponsible that is??"
"I'll be fine." I began to walk away. When a shard of ice shot right past my head, then it swiveled around, blocking my path.
"What's your problem?? Why should you care if I got injured??" "You're more important than you realize." I hesitated, 'Rey too?'
"I'll take you home." "I told you, I have someone to meet." "Then let me come with you." For a moment, it seemed as if Rey was worried,
I shook away the thought and nodded in annoyance, I began to walk at a swift pace. Even I knew Rey was the slowest walker in the family.
I looked up, it was the Heroes of Magia statue. Six feet away I could see Raya, a cloak hid her face as I approached.
"You wanted me..?" I glanced nervously towards Rey, who was emotionless, except for the fact one of the his eyebrows was raised slightly.
Raya's pov:
I sensed instantly when Nadia arrived, because her older brother was with her. Naturally ice and water wielders share a special connection.
"As you might have discovered this morning.. You have a gift." I slide my hood off. Nadia was glancing at her hands.
I thought she would be better at concealing her emotions, but I guessed this was a sensitive topic.
"Yes.." "Focus your energy into your hands." The only sign of my astonishment was that my eyes widened when purple magic swiveled around her hands.
I noticed Rey's expression mirrored mine, it was if, for a moment, I could read his thoughts.
