Kim Sena took a step forward but she knew he was even further away than she could keep up. Her heart twisted in her chest, pleading silently but only saw the world blur. She felt the tears trace their way down her face but wiped them away with a desperate brush of a hand, the other still gripping the well worn photo.
“Please. Don’t do this.” Sena hated herself for begging but found she couldn’t do anything so noble as to let him go.
Her now ex-boyfriend Lee Minjoon shook his head, his eyes flashing sympathy. He took a step forward as if to reach out and wipe away the new tears that made their way down her cheeks again. His hand paused and eventually lowered to his side in defeat.
“I’m sorry.”
The murmur was barely heard over the thudding in her chest.
With a sob, Sena took a step back, covering her mouth before she could say anything else that would make him pull further away. She shook her head this time and run blindly in the opposite direction.
Sena couldn’t hear Minjoon running after her and didn’t expect him to. That moment would stain itself in her memories, leeching the colours of the bright memories Sena would hold closely to herself.
She managed to round the corner of the park where she thought the area was deserted when a stranger suddenly stepped forward to block her path. Sena nearly bumped into him but managed to stop and stand right in front of this stranger. Sena glanced up to find him assessing her, eyes unreadable. Sena hesitated, still gripping the torn photo, before she mumbled an excuse and tried to walk around him.
He stepped the same way, blocking her path once more. Slight irritation cut through her sorrows and Sena glanced up again at the stranger.
“Let me pass.” Sena mumbled, not quite meeting his eyes.
Sena felt long fingertips hold her chin to lift her gaze up at him.
They were swirls of blue and green, neither one or the other. Sena blinked and could see flecks of gold threaded throughout.
Beautiful.
Sena thought, momentarily frozen in that moment.
“You will come with me.” He murmured, breaking into her reverie.
Her eyes widened and Sena tried to pry his fingertips still holding her chin. “I think you’ve made a mistake.”
He chuckled slowly, the low masculine voice stirring something within her. “I don't think so.” He tightened his hold on her chin, the amusement replaced with a piercing expression.
Sena was speechless, wondering how to extricate herself out this mess Sena seemed to have stumbled on. Without warning, he let her go. Before Sena could sigh in relief and make her way through, he reached out to grab her waist, spoke foreign words and Sena last remembered the feeling of passing through time and space before there was nothing and Sena lost consciousness.
