“Layla, I’m sorry for putting you in this position, but I must know what that boy is to you,” His eyes staring deep into mine
I couldn’t say nothing or look away. It was like he put me under a spell and the way his eyes looked. The blueness of his iris has now faded away and now its a deep purple/maroon color while his slitted pupil is nonseeable now by the thinness of it.
“Layla, I don’t like to repeat myself so please answer me,”
I opened my mouth but closed it. I shook my head to get his eyes out of my mind and looked at my hands, “Mr. Neville, it’s not of your worry. Me and Alex are just close friends and we care about each others health,”
“I don’t like that answer,” I looked up at him and noticed he was hovering above me now. His hands on each of my chair arm. If looks could kill then I would be six feet in the ground.
“It’s the truth, Mr. Neville,”
He furrowed his eyesbrows, “He handed you something this morning and you’ve been occasinaolly fidgeting with your pocket. Now, that doesn’t seem like close friends, but of a romantic relationship,”
My eyes widened. Did he catch on? Or is this plan working? No, it seemed to soon for all of this to work. “Mr. Neville, I think it’s best we separate ourselves from this problem or there may be a downfall in our relationship,”
He look taken back when I said ‘our relationship.’ He slowly back away and excused himself. I sat there, confused. How could his emotions switch up this quickly? I faced my laptop and tried to distract myself with reading the cases, but it didn’t work. All of a sudden, my phone started to vibrate like crazy
Ysennia: I’m not going crazy am I, but I see two Nemesio Neville’s.
Ysennia sent a picture and it was Nemesio and his brother, Octavio. Octavio had his hand on Nemesio’s shoulder while Nemesio had his hands close to his face.
Alex: I think I’m dying today…
Sandra: Is the other one single?
Kelli: I’ve heard that’s his brother, who isn’t in the law enforcement field due to him giving it up and working in an orphanage where he spends his previous earnnings to
Ysennia: Damn, Kelli. You’ve really been investiagating
Alex: Can we get back to the main subject? Why are there two Neville’s and why do I spot Wesley behind one of them.
I looked back at the photo and noticed what Alex meant. The three of them were all together and it seemed there was more to the picture.
Sandra: Layla, what happened between you and Neville?
Layla: We had a brief chat after Alex left
Ysennia: Alex, please tell me, you didn’t go to his office
Alex: And what if I did…
Ysennia: You idiot! We are trying to bring them together, not apart. Now, it seems like his brother is comforting him
Sandra: Alex, you did a good thing, but it may have been too soon
Alex: Well, sorry. I just wanted this relationship to happen quickly and for them to realize they like each other
Ysennia: Guys, hold on
Sandra: That was quick, Ysennia, but anyways. Alex, if this harms them, I’m fighting you
Kelli: No need for violence. We just need to figure this out step by step
Ysennia: I sent a video and you have to see this. I don’t think they are ordinary creatures
I clicked on the video she sent and was stun on what was happening. It seemed the blue strands in his hair were moving on its own. They were levitating and glowing.
Sandra: Nevermind, I don’t want either of them
Kelli: I wonder what kind of creature they are
Ysennia: Imagine how I was when I noticed it. I was absoluetly shocked and I think I made eye contact with the brother. So, Alex, I’ll meet you in the afterlife
Layla: No one is going to die. We just have to keep this a secret between the five of us
Alex: Well, only the three of you since me and Ysennia are going to be gone
Sandra: haha, even though you are annoying. I think well be fine if Layla helps us
I got up from my chair and walked over to the window, looking through the blinds, not even seeing Nemesio or Octavio. The door opened and I turned around, noticing Octavio standing there. He closed the door behind him and made himself comfortable on the couch.
“I heard that you and my brother had a arguement. But, in reality, I wouldn’t call it a arguement but a demand from him. To which I apologize for him. He has been under the weather for a few days now and I guess this set him off,” He looked over, smiling, “So, please sit over here as I would like to talk to you,” He motioned to the couch in front of him
I slowly walked over to the couch and sat down, catiously, “Don’t worry, Miss Layla. I won’t harm you unless you harm my brother,” I stiffened at that, “Now, I heard from my brother that you and Alex may be courting each other,”
“Courting?” I choked on my saliva, “S-sorry, but we are just friends, close friends,”
He narrowed his eyes at me, clicking his tongue, “Now, I understand why he reacted that way. Firstly, water is a ominous and mysterious element,” He eyed the coffee cup on the desk, “It will hold memories regardless if it was two minutes ago or 100 years. So, let's see what this one held,” He got up and walked over to my coffee
He took off the lid and dipped his finger into the hot coffee, smirking as he looked over at me, “tsk tsk, I thought you knew better than to lie to my brother especially me,”
My eyes widened, “I-I didn't mean to but I had to,”
“You had to hide that you like my brother. No.no.no, this is a celebration. This is magnificent,”
“What, no. It's only a liking. I can always lose my feelings for him,”
He shook his head, walking towards me, “that's not possible, Miss Layla. Once you start liking one of us, it's for indefinite,”
“But the law-,”
“Hell with the law. We are above that law,”
“But-,”
“If they deem themselves godly than us, then they are asking for a reevaluation and a war,” He smirked, sitting right down on the coffee table, “I know you may be curious on who we are, but first, I have to know that your feelings for my brother is true,”
I looked down at my hands, not able to stand his staring. He may be nice first, but he seems very dangerous.
“Miss Layla, do you truly like my brother?”
“I have a crush on him, yes, but I'm afraid it'll go away due to that law as I don't want him to be hurt in the long run,”
Octavio burst out laughing, “Miss Layla, we are not the ones who will be hurt. We will be the one hurting them, so is that your final answer if that law didn't matter,”
I bit my lip, thinking carefully as thus could change my life. I looked at him, “If I said yes, what will happen to me? I know there's a special reason that your being this way to me, but I would like to know what's in it for me in the long run?”
Octavio smiled, “You are a overthinker which may conflict Nemesio, but it'll be enjoyable. But to answer your question, I can't give you specifics, but just that you'll know more about our heritage and more about Nemesio as that's always best,”
“Where is he now?” I asked
“You have to answer my question, Miss Layla. I can't tell you anything until you tell me,”
I scratched my cheek, thinking. If I say yes, I'm stuck with Nemesio but I don't think it'll be bad, but I don't know anything about him. If I say no, there's a possibility I won't see him ever again and just the thought of that, squeezes my heart. I sat up straighter in my chair and look him directly in his eyes, noticing I wasn't affect by him.
“I just have one question and then I'll give you my answer,”
He tilt his head, “Ask away,”
“Does Nemesio have feelings for me? I don't want to put him in a awkward situation,”
Octavio smiled, “Now, Layla, think about his response earlier today and if you don't understand, then I'm gonna need to teach you,” He bend a little with his elbow on his thigh as he rested his cheek in the palm of his hand
I blushed, embarrassed, “This is my first time dealing with this situation and I want to be sure, I'm not ruining anyone's life,”
“You're not. Now what's your answer, Miss Layla?”
“Yes, I have a crush on Nemesio,”
