Wait, what in the world did he mean by that?
Was I hallucinating, or was I high on drugs? Or was there something in my tea today?
Honestly, I don't even understand a single thing that's going on in my life, yet here I am, on a private island, saying hi to my new in-laws, which are just Reiss's father and some important business partners.
After signing our marriage certificate, I couldn't wait for this charade to be over so I could go to bed in peace. I mean, now that the deed is done, there'll be no more crying at night, thinking too much, or having overly emotional conversations.
I'm married now. So please address me as Mrs. Freya Park Sukuna, or is it Reiss?
Whatever, who cares?
"You look ravishing, darling," Mr. Sukuna said as I hugged him. He was dressed in a white turtleneck and a big suit coat. He looked amazing for his age, and I will keep on saying it till I die.
"Thank you, papa; you look amazing too. It's like you've aged 20 years since I last saw you," I smiled. Out of everyone here, he was the only one I could genuinely put on a smile for; he's been nothing but nice to me since day one. I'm looking back on the day I first met him and going, 'Gosh!" I would marry him if he were on the table.
"Your compliments are way too undeserving, but thank you. Do you like the scenery?"
"I love it, papa, the view, the colours, the music, the exquisite flowers, and that touch of vintage. I am so honoured. Who would have thought I would be getting married on an island?" I chuckled.
"Make her happy, son," he gestured to Reiss, who just gave a nod, and then Papa left to talk to someone else.
We were finally alone, and I wanted to say something when he suddenly left my side and went over to a man sitting in a far corner.
"Well, that settles that." I sighed. Even my maid of honour hasn't come to say her congrats; I don't know where Solomon has taken her because he's also missing.
I see my mom and dad discussing something important, and with the way their faces are so uptight, I should go say hi before people start thinking it's weird for the bride's family to not congratulate her.
My gaze is already fixed on them, and I start to advance when someone taps me from behind.
"Congratulations on your wedding, Miss Freya, or should I say Mrs. Reiss?" he says. "Oh, so it's Mrs. Reiss."
"Oh, thank you so much. I'm delighted you could be here on my special day." I smile as usual. Now leave me alone, bro.
"I thought you had a sister; where is she?" He asked, and my mind just...
Okay, hold up, hold up. Who the fuck are you again? I've talked to about 15 guests today, and no one has talked to me for more than a minute. What is all this? An interrogation?
"She went on a trip, and since the engagement came so quickly, she couldn't make it, but it's so kind of you to think about my family, sir."
"Call me Han."
"Okay, Mr. Han."
"So about this supposed wedding, you wouldn't mind telling me how you and Reiss met?" For him to be keeping such a damsel like you off the radar is rather challenging for people like me." He chuckled
"Then I think you should improve on your research." Reiss immediately shows up from nowhere and clings to my side.
"Reiss," Han says, offering a handshake.
"Han," he replies coldly, ignoring his outstretched arm.
"It's my wedding, for crying out loud. Could you keep the questions for another day?" he says authoritatively.
Han chuckled before redrawing his hand. "It's my job, Reiss, but I'll try to refrain for now. "Congratulations once again." He smiles before walking away.
"I leave you for five minutes, and you're with the press." Reiss frowns at me.
"Heyy now, don't act like it's my fault." I didn't even know he was a news guy. I didn't see any microphone or recorder with him." I huffed. We just got married, and he's being a total Dutch bag.
"That's because it's hidden, silly. What did you say?"
"Nothing much, just that Selena was on a trip, so she couldn't make it."
"Did he ask anything else?"
"How did we meet?" But you interrupted, so I ended up saying nothing."
"Good. " Let's hope he buys that; we'll have to come up with something for people; we can't say my father paid a huge debt so he could lock you up with me," he sighed.
I want to say something, or at least have a comeback, but he's right.
"When is reception starting? I can feel my tummy crying." I pout
He gives me a stern look before walking away. I swear, I wasn't joking when I said I'd seen those eyes somewhere else before. It's coming together, but slowly. I just know I need to be cautious around him.
I follow swiftly behind him as he leaves the garden, probably to where all the food is. And I hear someone announce that everyone should move in for the reception.
"Would you wait up?" I call from behind; it's like he's a fucking speedster.
That's when I see that big glass house I was talking about, but it's more like a castle neatly hidden by trees and flowers.
I would love to go into details, but the rumbling in my stomach just doesn't make anything in my head sound right when I say it out loud.
I guess this is where I'll be living. But it's far from town, and I have a life there; how are we supposed to go about this?
"Congratulations on your wedding, sir," the two maids standing right at the door say when Reiss walks past them into the building.
"Well, he's going to be a hassle." I frown as I stop chasing after him and just act normal. It's not like he's the only one who didn't want this, but it's my wedding day, so even the groom can't upset me.
Now where is Bernice?
