After the events from the night before, Dima foresaw he would be in an awful mood, and that in turn would ruin his entire day. Surprisingly, he woke up to breakfast in bed. The plate was filled with his favorites - a platter of fruits, mostly strawberries, waffles and pineapple juice. Unexpected. His grouchy form sat up straight before grinning at the two men leaning at the door frame of his room.
“You are welcome,” Raine and Maven drawled lazily. They were his closest and only friends, making them a tight-knit group of three.
Raine was 5'10" and had a slim build. He had an oval face with beautiful hazel eyes, black hair that was cut short, and a perfect nose. What else? He was a gay man's and a straight girl's cute-boy fantasy.
Maven, on the other hand, was a man with an athletic build; although if we go by how he acted, he was a man-child. He was 6'2" and his towering height made him more noticeable along with his good-looking face. He had light brown hair and blue eyes with some tattoos decorating his body. Overall, he was a cross between cute and handsome; it mostly depended on what he was wearing. Not that all these traits mattered to Dima; best friends don't care about trivial things like outer beauty.
One should not be going on their childlike traits though, because they both were fairly smart. Raine was an analytical thinker and Maven was capable of highly creative insight and practical solutions to problems. Dima did not know what he would do without these two. The best thing about their friendship was those two bring out the child inside him. It showed easily too. After all, it did not take much for them to convince Dimitri to play video games.
They spent half of the day in Dima's room playing games and talking. The other half was spent outside – having late lunch, going for laser tag, and then clubbing.
The trio was exhausted by the end of the night and they decided on crashing at Dimitri's place.
The next day was spent similarly. They started with playing board games. Further in the day, they grew bored with the boards and cheaters and decided to head to a cafe nearby. Raine was the one to suggest the place; it was inaugurated a week prior and the reviews were assuring so far.
With all three friends bantering with each other and enjoying small talk, the day was going great. As Dima looked ahead while entering the doors of the cafe, he cursed himself for jinxing his good luck. I spoke too soon.
The mute guy from the club was standing blocking the door to the cafe, making it impossible to ignore him and pass. He glared at Dima and then unexpectedly his face softened. He graced the vampire with a brilliant smile. Lifting his index finger upwards, he glimpsed at Dima with hopeful eyes.
"One minute?" Dima asked hesitantly.
The mute guy who in comparison to Dima was the size of an ant – the mute-ant – nodded his head and dashed inside the cafe.
"Woah! Is he bipolar? I mean he did a one-eighty degree from angry kitty to sunshine Tweety," Maven whispered in astonishment. "Anyway, who is he?"
Before Dima could answer, the mute-ant came back holding a drink. He was still beaming brightly and frankly, his smile was terrifying Dima. Glares never frightened Dima as smiles did. They were deceptive.
"Scary," Maven mumbled from beside Dima at the same time Raine mumbled - "Creepy."
A splash of cold startled Dimitri before he gained his composure. That is it? He wanted to throw a drink at me? What a child!
Dima's t-shirt soaked at the front, light purple changing into a dark purple. It had started giving out the smell of...garlic? Maven and Raine had gotten the whiff of the drink too and they all fell into uncontrollable bouts of laughter. Amidst the laughter, Dima asked the mute-ant whether he really thought that garlic kills vampires or burns them to fumes.
The werewolf's smile changed into a smirk.
Dima's retort died on his lips as his hands and chest started to burn like someone poured hot molten lava on him."What the fuck did you do, you asshole?" Dima screeched at the little shit in front of him.
"Oh, my Devil! He mixed glass shards in that garlic shit," Raine stated panicked when his eyes zoomed in on his friend's tee.
Another sniff and he sneezed violently. His body went into full alert mode It was another disaster – chili powder.
The werewolf simply tossed a paper at Dima and ran away cackling maliciously. Dima requested Maven to read the note, but his friend looked out of it. The idiot was looking enthralled and enamored with the running male despite being straight.
"MAVEN!" Dima shouted to gain his notice. "Read it."
"That is for calling me mute,” Maven read the slip aloud. As their mood had turned sour, they took the mutual decision to retreat to Dima's home.
At the mansion, Raine helped Dima peel off the shards and Maven assisted by chattering to his friend to deflect him from the discomfort.
The day turned out to be quite a shit show.
"Don't brood Dima. OK, there must be something good about the day. Tell us about your favorite part," Maven probed.
"I didn't anticipate being awoken by kisses showering down my neck," Dima stated, looking at Raine. In turn, Raine winked at him.
Raine's kisses were the highlight of his day.
