I really want to like this... But it just lets so much info be assumed or the information is just there when needed and it's hard to buy in.
Ex the comment about the families fighting for decades and he's going to put an end to it one Lan at a time or w/e. It's an acknowledgement that he knows some of the original souls history/memories... But sometimes he knows nothing and sometimes it's super vague. Just tell us how it is instead of letting it crutch the plot.
