Preston's POV
After our little fun in the bedroom, we laid around in bed for a couple of hours before Adrien urged that we start unpacking.
We spent most of the day unpacking, starting with our bedroom. All of our furniture was already pre-arranged, thanks to Luka and Elijah's help, so all we had to do was unpack and put our stuff away.
While I got to work unpacking our clothes, folding and putting them away in our closet and dresser, Adrien decorated the place. He hung up artwork all over our bedroom walls, made the bed, hung up some fairy lights, set up little knickknacks and picture frames on our dresser and bookcase. I had given him full reign on decorating our apartment how he wanted, just because he had much better taste than I did in that department, and also I just didn't care how the place looked. All that mattered to me was that we were living together.
Plus, I knew how excited Adrien was to decorate the place. It was one of the things he had been looking forward to the most—He had been talking about it and creating vision boards nonstop for months, and nothing made me happier than seeing that cute, animated smile on his face.
By the time evening hit, our bedroom and kitchen were nearly completely unpacked and decorated. Thanks to Adrien, our place began to look all warm and cozy and eclectic and full of colour. It was already starting to feel like home.
Our home.
"I'm exhausted." I flopped down on the couch with a groan, slouching back against the pillows. Latte jumped up seconds later, meowing at me while he crawled onto my lap and laid down. I brushed my hand over his head and through his soft fur, purrs vibrating from him. "I could just close my eyes right now and fall asleep.
"Want me to order in some food?" Adrien called out from behind me in the kitchen. I hummed softly.
"Hmm...you could," I replied, glancing at him over the back of the couch, watching as he put away mugs into the top cupboards. "But I also kind of want to head into town. We could grab some food and walk around, take a little tour."
"Yeah? We could do that too." Adrien glanced over his shoulder, smiling softly. He closed the cupboard and wandered over, standing behind the couch. "I noticed that there was a restaurant called The Pancake House while we were driving over here. Wanna go check it out?"
"Pancakes, you say? Uh, fuck yes," I blurted out. "I'm an absolute slut for pancakes."
Adrien rolled his eyes and laughed. He gently combed his fingers through my hair, brushing strands out of my face. "Then get your slutty butt off the couch and let's go."
"Hold on, we can't go right now. Can't you see I have a cat on my lap?" I gestured to Latte, curled up in a ball and purring.
He shook his head and bent over the couch, pressing a kiss against my cheek. "You're an idiot."
"You'd be saying the same thing if he was curled up in your lap."
"...Yeah, you're right," Adrien admitted. A heavy sigh left his lips. "Fine, we'll go whenever you're ready to part with his snuggles."
I smiled softly at him. "I love you."
"Mhmm...I love you too," Adrien smiled back crookedly.
I admired the soft features of his face and his sparkling bright eyes. I cupped his face in my hand, brushing my thumb over his cheek, leaning forward to press a kiss against his lips. Adrien's smile widened. He climbed over the back of the couch and took a seat next to me, leaning his head against my shoulder as he curled up against me.
Eventually, after Latte decided that he had enough cuddles and went to watch the birds from the windowsill, Adrien and I headed out. The restaurant was only a ten-minute walk from our apartment complex, so instead of taking my car, we decided to head over on foot.
When we reached the restaurant, glowing fairy lights and tables decorated the outside. The building itself was made up of dark bricks, with dark brown double doors and tall windows. Flower bushes and vines crawled up the walls of the restaurant and wrapped over the door's overhang.
A bell chimed as I pulled the door open, gesturing Adrien inside. He smiled at me and walked into the restaurant, and I followed close behind.
As I stepped inside, the heavenly aroma of warm coffee and pastries laced around me, making my stomach growl. The interior was just as cute as the exterior, aesthetically vintage with earthy tones. Adrien glanced around the restaurant, the place bustling with people and chatter, his eyes sparkling with delight at the gorgeous scenery.
"This place is gorgeous," Adrien said, breathless. I took his hand in mine, lacing our fingers, and led him over to an empty booth against one of the tall windows.
"The food looks delicious too," He commented once we were sat down and flipping through the menu, excitement sparkling around him.
I smiled, amused, and glanced down at my menu, taking note of the many, many pancake and waffle options. While there were other breakfast and lunch options, I didn't bother to look at those.
"I feel like I already know what you're going to get..." I said, not failing to notice blueberry pancakes listed on the menu. Adrien flashed me an innocent smile.
"Whatever do you mean?"
"They have blueberry pancakes, babe." I laughed. Adrien burst out laughing, a light blush coating his cheeks.
"Fine, you caught me red-handed," He raised his hands in surrender. I smirked.
"Want me to handcuff you to the bed later?"
"Do not do that."
"Why not? You enjoyed it the last time I did." I teased, resting my chin against my hand, smiling flirtatiously. Adrien's cheeks burned hotter. He rolled his eyes and shook his head, turning his gaze away from me.
"What are you thinking of getting?" He asked, changing the subject. My smile widened, amused by his cute blushing face. "Let me guess, the chocolate pancakes?"
I chuckled softly, "What gave it away, the promise of chocolate chips or the chocolate syrup on top?"
"Both," Adrien's eyes briefly flickered back to me. "You're a slut for both pancakes and chocolate."
"Mmmm, yes I am, baby. Yes I am."
"Maybe you're the one who needs to be handcuffed," He mentioned. I raised a brow.
"If you want to handcuff me, sweetheart, I wouldn't resist to it." I sat up straighter and leaned over the table, softly whispering, "You can have your way with me anytime you want. Just say the word."
I pressed a quick peck against his lips and sat back down in my seat, my back against the booth and arms crossed over my chest. I dragged my teeth over my bottom lip, smirking, admiring how speechless Adrien looked, his face a vibrant wildfire.
A waitress came and took our orders a few minutes later. Adrien was still a blushing mess as she wrote down our orders, and whether or not the waitress noticed, she didn't comment on it. When she left, I reached over the table and gently took Adrien's left hand in mine, gently brushing my thumb over his knuckles, and the green sapphire ring on his finger.
Adrien smiled, eyes drawn to our interlocked hands. My heart skipped a beat at the sight.
Dinner at The Pancake House was phenomenal. The chocolate pancakes were absolutely mouthwatering when they arrived, and they tasted even better than I thought they would. Adrien easily agreed with me—he had fallen in love with his blueberry pancakes from the first bite.
After we finished eating and I paid for our check, Adrien and I left the restaurant, our hands laced together. The sun was asleep and the stars were out, illuminating the dark sky.
We walked around downtown, past different shops and cafes, admiring all the dated, vintage architecture. It looked gorgeous at night too, with all the fairy lights and lanterns glittering around, lighting up the town. We had chosen this town in particular to move to because for one, it was small and tight-knit, which is what Adrien wanted, and two, it was only a half-hour drive to Leighton and a twenty-minute drive to Faith.
It was the perfect middle ground for us both. And with the way Adrien's eyes lit up just like the warm lanterns as we toured through town, I knew that we made a good choice in moving here.
I could already see it—the memories that we would make. The laughter, the smiles, the warmth. This town, this new place that we could call our home, was only the beginning of our lives together, and I couldn't wait to cherish every moment.
