“Attention, students! You all may be wondering on what's happening, but I have very exciting news for you all,” Headmaster Rudolph smiled, “We have an new opportunity for selected students. To be selected, we have listed out the rules and requirements as you can see on the paper being handed out to you,”
I grabbed the paper from the teacher and skimmed over it before looking back up at the headmaster, “Itosan council has granted us the opportunity of letting us enter their country and teaching the selected students on becoming lawyers or working in the law enforcement. So, I ask you, my students to not let this opportunity go to waste, take this chance to improve yourself and learn of new tricks. If any of you wish to not participate, please notify one of the teachers at the west end doors as we want the ones who truly want this opportunity to get it,” He watched as multiple students walked to the west end doors, “I wish you all luck and if you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask,” With that, he walked off the stage
“Layla!” I turned my head to the yell and noticed it was Ysennia running towards me
“Ysennia, you shouldn't be running,” I said as I backed away slowly
She reached for my hands and pulled me towards her, “Are you going to enter?”
“I'm deciding on it,” I smiled at her, “I know you're entering this competition,”
“Of course I am,” She let go of my hands and got into her confident pose which was just her hands on her hips as she smiled brightly, “This is everything that I needed. So many new techniques I can learn and can try out in court. It's so exciting,”
I rubbed my eye before looking at the paper then back at Ysennia, “Then I'll join as well. I don't want to be alone here,”
“Well you already say, you want a break away from me, so think of this as your chance,” Ysennia hip bump me
“Yes, I've said that, but I guess this will help me understand if I truly want to become a lawyer,” I told her as I interwine our arms together, “So, we have to make sure we both win this competition,”
Ysennia patted my hand, “Of course we will, miss first place,”
I laughed, “Well this first place is tiring me out. You have to take over for me, Ysennia,”
“No, I like my fifth place,”
We walked out of the auditorium and handed to our current class as the headmaster had called for us. This opportunity is a good one but for me, it seemed like another burden for me, but on the other hand, it feels like it'll help me to understand on what I want to do with life. I sighed but continued to keep up with Ysennia as she jogged to class. Once we got there, we sat in our assign seats and our teacher continued our lesson.

I twirled my pen as I stared at the form in front of me. Ysennia handed me a form for the competition during lunch and I hid it away until now. I grabbed the rules and requirement paper and read through it completely
‘To enter for the opportunity to study at Itosan, you must have the minimum requirements
You must complete the form with your legal name, date of birth, student id
You must be a junior or senior as you'll be shadowing a lawyer in their daily work life
You need at need 36 hours of credit to enter
You need to have at least 3 court appearances/experiences
There were more requirements that needed to be complete and I made sure to write them down as incomplete, complete or in progress as its important to have a list to do. I set my pen down as I read the rules.
‘You will be staying at a hotel for a period of two months. During those two months, you will be teached Itosan's culture, learn of their legal system and be shadowing a lawyer or any law enforcement professional. During the time you have off, you may do whatever you like but you must send a completed form of were your going to the professor and you must return back to the hotel before 10pm. You'll be split into group of 5 since there'll be 30 of you. You must stay in those groups when out in the court but during your time off, you won't have to.’
I rub my eye as I could feel the tiredness trying to take over. I slapped my cheeks to keep myself awake as I needed to complete this since so many are going to enter and I want to be one of them. I looked in my bag, pulling out a small crystal ball that was engraved with snowflakes. I was given this crystal ball from my grandparents after I was sent away to boarding school which is where I'm at. My parents were the reason I'm here due to me lacking magic power. In this world, people are either born with magic or gifted it. To be gifted magic, you must do something so worthy, but I would never achieve something like that. Or to be born with magical powers, both your parents or just one of them will pass it on to you. For me, I was bestow with none even though I had two parents with magical powers. My parents waited until I was 16 which my results would come out and state if I had any magical powers. When it came back less than 1%, they decided to see me off to boarding school. Any school that would accept me and my low magical powers. My grandparents were willing to take me in, but my parents refused as I needed to learn and become something else besides a failure. So, that led to now. Constantly sleep deprived, studying day and night, sleepwalking without knowing, and trying to stay at the number 1 spot. I shook my head to stop thinking of the memories and tap the crystal ball.
“You are the only thing I find happiness in,” I smiled, “O stars of the late night sky, heed my thoughts and bless me with your shining, dazzling light to show me my path in this world you watch,” I watched as the crystal ball lit and faded into words
‘Dim yourself as empty space and be doom. Brighten yourself to shine as a star and accomplish your goals. To the worth of your mind, seek the opportunity that is upon you to which you'll shine like a star.’
“Thank you, my friend,” I covered it with the silk cloth and placed it back in my bag
I can do this. All those sleepless nights weren't for nothing. This may be a eye opening event for me to which I can make something out of me.

“You stayed up late again, didn't you?” Ysennia said as I sluggishly made my way to my seat
I rummaged through my bag and took out a folder that was filled with paper for the application process for the opportunity. “I had to get this done before,”
Her eyes widened, “Does that mean you're going?”
“Yes, I can't let you have all the fun,” I slumped in my seat, just wanting to sleep
Ysennia hugged me, squeezing me to her chest, “You're the best, Layla! Just know it's going to be so fun. We'll learn so much but also explore,”
“Explore? I'll probably use that time to sleep,”
“Really?” I looked up at her, “Layla, you know that won't happen so that means we have to explore to see if we can find any medications or remedies go help you, so don't back out on exploring,”
“You won't let me say no, will you?”
“You know me so well,” She smiled brightly, letting go of me, “Now, try to nap. I'll wake you up once the professor comes,”
“I don't know if I can,” I rub my eye, “I can feel the exhaustion hitting me, but it's impossible to keep my eyes close since I'm wide awake,”
“Well try to,” She took out a pillow from her bag and handed it to me, “Rest and I'll wake you up,”
I took the pillow from her and laid it on the desk. I tried to get myself comfortable and closed my eyes, but it was useless since I was still awake and the professor came in less than 10 minutes.
I raised my head up and placed the pillow in my bag. I got all my supplied and journal out and took notes.
My first place can easily be taken away, so I have to stay on guard.

“Layla, where are you going?” Ysennia intertwined her arm in mine as we walked
“I'm heading to the headmaster office,”
She stopped me, making me face her, “Did you get in trouble?”
“No, why would I?”
“Then why are you going?”
“To hand him my form for the competition,” I raised the folder up
Her eyes widened, “Then I'm for sure coming with you. I can probably submit mine with yours and he'll immediately take us into consideration,” She started to walk, pulling me along
I chuckled at her and off we went to the headmaster office to hand him our completed forms.
