“Don’t be silly.” Dana lightly punched the taller woman on her arm. “Witches aren’t real. Our little Jilly here must have cast the love spell on herself, all by her lonesome.”

“Then Jillian is the witch.” Sylvie laughed out louder, almost spilling the lemonade she was stirring.

“You guys are such a barrel of laughs.” Jillian shook her head ruefully. “But damn, sometimes I do wish I could do magic… and make my shitty life worth living, at least for a while.”

“Or better yet, find a guy who might be into you as much as you’re into Jackson.” Sylvie gave her a tight smile and ran her slender fingers through her long silky dark hair.

“Yeah, there might be one or two losers hanging around somewhere hoping for a hapless woman to walk their way.” Dana had a sneer on her round face.
