You thumb through the book, coming across a portrait of Jack and a young elven man with long black hair with red highlights and silver eyes, they match Jack's black and silver hair and red eyes, this elf looks familiar, it's you. You in a past life... As you stare at the portrait, memories flood back to you. You remember being that elf, serving as Jack's closest advisor and confidante. You remember the bond you shared, the trust and understanding that existed between you two. You also remember the events that led to your death, the betrayal of a trusted ally, and the pain that followed.
The realization hits you like a ton of bricks, and you can't believe that you were once so close to Jack. You wonder if he remembers you, if he's been waiting all this time for you to return to him. The thought both excites and terrifies you.
You don't know how to handle this information regardless, as the sound of shuffling in the hall alerts you to another's presence. You quickly close the journal and place it back on the table, turning to face the door. A figure enters, and you can see that it's a dog demon butler.
