RAINBOW
Tiredness filled my body. Being a Groomsman for Mikaela was not an easy job, but at least I was not alone, Julien was also one. As best friends, we had to keep Mikaela sane while going around town picking and looking for things for his wedding. Julien already had expertise in the area since he already went through that, and me? Well, my creative self allowed me to know what would look good and as the main photographer at the wedding, I also had a say in the visual arrangement Mikaela was going for. And don’t get me wrong, spending time with my friends was the best but I also had other things to deal with, the thing being Kang Dae.
We hadn’t seen each other since the day of the shoot. We just texted each other saying greetings in the morning and at night. It felt like something had changed in him, he no longer asked to meet and that made me sad. Maybe he got bored of me and found someone else. Kang Dae is a handsome young alpha, he must have a lot of people chasing him and asking him out.
I sighed, picking out the last grocery from my list. I was so tired that even cooking was not an option so walking back home I made a stop at the mini-market to buy some instant foods. Walking to the counter, I bumped into someone’s shoulder, he was wearing all black, and half of his face was covered by a mask, it was weird.
“Sorry about that,” I said with a soft smile feeling a little nervous.
“It’s okay.” The man said and kept walking down the aisle.
I got to the counter and after paying for all my items, I left the store, walking to my house. It was late and not many people were around. I took out an onigiri and started opening it but then an uneasy feeling took over my body, I felt like I was being watched and stopped in my tracks to look around but no one was in sight. I got goosebumps and dumped the onigiri back in the bag, walking faster to my home. My senses all over the place, I heard footsteps that were not mine behind me and I panicked, walking faster but then I was stopped, something grabbed me by the arm. When I turned around to see who grabbed me it was him…
The guy I bumped into at the store.
I tried to get rid of his grip but he was stronger than me, an alpha.
“Why are you in such a hurry? Don’t you recognize me? It’s me, your fated mate Rainbow.” The man said, taking my other arm and looking me in the eyes. I trembled upon his touch scared, I didn’t know what to do.
“F-Fated mate? W-what do you mean? Y-you are not him.” I said stuttering, tears starting to form in my eyes.
“Don’t you feel it? I feel it, since the first time I saw you in your modeling debut I knew you were mine.” The strange alpha said taking me to him. “Come on, let’s go to my house to form our bond.”
“No! N-no! Let me go!” I screamed trying to fight him while crying but his grip was not budging.
I tightly closed my eyes, screaming my lungs out and suddenly I felt that I was free, I heard a loud thud, a sweet scent hit my nostrils, and the sound of cuffs caught my ears. I opened my eyes to see what was happening and there he was, Kang Dae, holding that man against the wall, putting handcuffs around the stranger’s wrists.
“Sir, you are arrested for assaulting a person on the street and attempted kidnapping.”
“What?! No, this is a misunderstanding, officer. This is my fated mate.” The man said in a hurried voice. Kang Dae placed his eyes on me.
“Sir. Is what he saying true?” He asked me and I shook my head denying it.
“I-I’ve never seen that m-man in my life, he is not my f-fated mate,” I said stuttering and hugging myself, still trembling from the shock.
“What? You fucking bitch! You are lying, I know you feel it too.” The man screamed at me, releasing his unpleasant pheromones, I coughed and covered my nose and mouth with my hand.
Kang Dae pushed the alpha harder onto the wall and leaned in whispering something to him but I didn’t pay attention to what he said, the alpha stopped releasing his pheromones. From there it all happened so fast, one minute I was standing there and the other I was in the police patrol car on our way to the station.

KANG DAE
“So you are telling me that he is your fated mate and that’s why you talked to him?” Loui asked the stranger that I arrested. I asked him to take charge of the case because I was not in my right mind to do paperwork. The image of Rainbow shaking and crying was still in my mind. All I wanted was to hurt that perverted asshole for hurting my omega.
“Yes, I’ve been telling you a hundred times. Rainbow and I are made for each other. The God/dess wants us together.” I frowned at his ridiculous words, I was holding back hard to not walk toward him and punch him. I had to be professional.
“And you are one hundred percent sure that you feel the bond?” Loui said, not believing a word the guy said either.
“Yes, I do.” The stranger stated, sure of himself.
“Rainbow, you told us that you don’t know this person, right?” Loui asked the omega with kind eyes.
“Yes, I don’t know him. I’ve never seen him before and I know he is not my fated mate.”
“Well, yeah that’s true, you don’t feel it because…” Loui started saying and then gave me a short look, I knew what he wanted to say and I shook my head. “Because he is not your fated mate.”
“But I’m telling you that I am!” The pervert refuted again and at this point, I just wanted to beat his ass.
“Sir, fated bonds are not one-sided. Rainbow doesn’t feel it so you don’t feel it either.” Loui sighed, stressed at how delusional that alpha was being. I took a better look at the guy and something clicked inside me.
“He is a stalker. That’s what he is.” I said out loud, and all their glances turned to me.
“What?! A stalker? How dare you call me that?!” The stranger screamed, offended by my statement.
“How do you know this, Kang Dae?” Loui asked confused.
“When we were patrolling yesterday, we saw Rainbow walking in the streets with his friends and I noticed someone following them. He had a camera and he was wearing all black just like him.”
“Is this true, Sir?” Loui asked, his eyebrows frowning.
“No! I’m tell—” The man started saying but got interrupted by Lorenzo.
“Loui, Kang Dae. I think you want to see this.” Lorenzo said walking up to us with the belongings of the stranger, he took out some of the items inside. Mostly pictures and magazine cuts with Rainbow in it. I frowned looking at them. The last thing he showed us was a camera, he turned it on and it was full of more photos of the omega. ‘I knew it was him.’
“Huh, fated mate my ass. What a stalker.” Loui said, giving a sign to Lorenzo, and then looked back at the Rainbow’s stalker. “Sir, my partner here will take you to your cell and you better get comfy in there because you won’t be getting out any time soon.”
“N-no! No! I’m innocent! No!” Lorenzo took the guy away to one of the cells in the back. I sighed and looked at Rainbow. Tilly had come up to him and offered some tea to calm down his nerves.
“I’m so sorry you had to go through that. I’m glad Officer Kim was around when it happened. He truly is a hero.” Tilly said with a smile and Rainbow took the tea cup from the tray giving her a soft ‘thanks’.
“So I assume you will take charges, Rainbow,” Loui said and the omega nodded. “Okay, and don’t worry we won’t allow him to get close to you again. I can do all the paperwork, I just need you to sign this here.”
“Thanks, Loui,” Rainbow said and put the cup away to sign some of the papers my partner handed him. Once he was done he gave them back with a smile.
“Oh, you don’t have to thank me. Thank Kang Dae, he was the one who saved you.” Loui said with a chuckle and then pointed at me.
“Thank you, Kang Dae,” Rainbow said giving me a soft smile and I felt how my sanity was calming down. It was unbelievable how a smile from him could have that effect on me.
“So Rainbow, do you want me to call Layton to pick you up?” Loui asked. Layton? Who is Layton?
“No, I don’t want to worry them. I’ll just go back on my own.” Rainbow said awkwardly waving his hand at Loui. Was this ‘ Layton’ so important that he didn’t want to worry him? Jealousy started to crawl through my body.
“Are you sure you want to go alone?” Loui asked in a serious tone looking into the eyes of the omega.
“Yes, I don’t think anything else will happen and I’m calm now,” Rainbow said, he did seem calm but going back alone after almost getting kidnapped wasn’t a good idea.
“But still…” Loui said, unsure of letting him go alone so I stepped in.
“I can take you,” I said, Rainbow turned to look at me. “My shift is done and we are neighbors anyway.”
“Yes, yes! Great idea, Kang Dae.” Loui said overexcited, I gave him a look and he whispered a ‘sorry’.
“So? What do you say?” I asked Rainbow with a soft gentle smile.
“Okay, we can go together.” He nodded, smiling back at me.

Our walk back home was quiet. Rainbow said he was feeling better and calmer so we decided to walk instead of taking the car. I stole glances at him, his eyes were puffy from all the crying but to me, he still looked beautiful. The name that Loui mentioned earlier came to my mind again and I decided to break the silence.
“So who is Layton?” I asked my gaze fixed on him. Rainbow flinched and then turned to look at me. Our eyes met and he blushed.
“Layton is my dad,” Rainbow said with a soft smile.
“Oh! Your dad, I see.” All the tension left my shoulders in the face of this new knowledge.
“Wait, were you jealous?” Rainbow asked, holding back a giggle.
“Jealous? Me? No, of course not.” I said, embarrassed. One of my cheeks felt warm; I was probably blushing.
“Well, what about Tilly? She is really cute, I think she likes you.” Rainbow said and by the way he said it, he was also jealous.
“I know she does, but I’m not interested in her,” I confessed and just to see his reaction I decided to confess something else. “I have feelings for someone else.”
“Oh? Really? What are they like?” Rainbow asked, looking at me, his eyes filled with jealousy but also curiosity. I tried to hold back from laughing.
“Well, he is really cute, adorable even, but can also be sexy. His personality is very cheerful, he is also very creative, and his smile, his smile is so beautiful that it makes me feel full and calm each time I see it.” I described him, giving him hints that the person I was interested in was him.
“Oh, he sounds like a great person. I wish you luck with him.” Rainbow said in a somewhat serious tone, it seemed like he didn't get the hint or was acting like he didn't know.
“What about you? Do you like someone?” I curiously asked.
“I do, but I don’t know if I want to take the next step with him yet,” Rainbow answered. Who did he like? Maybe he was referring to me. Bonds are not one-sided so he probably meant me. No. He for sure meant me.
“Well, you should because I’ll also take the next step,” I said, I was done with this yes or no game. If he was my fated mate like Loui said then I wanted to bond with him. I had made my choice, I’m not rejecting him.
And just like that without noticing we had arrived at Rainbow’s doorstep. We stood there, looking at each other. Silence ruled over both of us until he decided to break it.
“Would you like to go on a date with me tomorrow?” Rainbow said with a shy smile.
“Sure, what time?” I asked.
“I have some things to do in the morning but we can hang out in the afternoon, if you have time of course.” He said with a smile. “I’ll text you when I’m free.”
“Okay, it's a date then,” I responded with a soft smile.
“It’s a date,” Rainbow repeated and then he stood on his tiptoes, leaving a soft kiss on my lips, taking me by surprise. “Thank you for saving me. See you tomorrow.” He said and then hurriedly walked inside his apartment, before he closed the door I noticed the blush on his cheeks and I smiled.
‘I really am in love with you, Victor Lowell.’
